Returned here after 7 years with high expectations given the renovations. Unfortunately the experience was an overall disaster. The front desk were pleasant, although you have to ask for information it's not readily offered. The room (with a tiny spa bath) appeared superficially pleasant. The balcony is a lovely feature along with a chaise lounge. The wall sockets and fittings however are inadequately situated requiring extension chords for lap top at the desk to run. The light fittings on the head board are ill placed meaning your head gets whacked frequently. The power blew out 3 times? requiring staff to re boot it. There weren't an unusual amount of appliances plugged in at the time. Obviously a wiring issue. The carpet was clearly grubby and stained in several places. Unacceptable by any standard. Particularly for a "superior" type room. The switches are upside down. There were no in room instructions for the whereabouts of the aircon or other controls. I had to ring downstairs several times to be told where to find things.
The General Manager was the rudest person I've ever encountered. He rushed over from behind the counter like a maniac to tell my guest and I who had returned with some grocery items and Gin and Tonic that we couldn't drink the in bar. We were simply taking a look at it on the way back to the room. There appears to be a problem with the culture in this hotel. We stopped to look at the dining room to be told at the door the kitchen was closed. This is the first thing that came out of the young womens mouth! It seems the hotel doesn't want people checking out its facilities and would prefer we all just stay away, or in our grubby rooms. Shocking unprofessional unwelcoming behaviour. I don't usually review to this length but it's an indication of the long list of unacceptable issues and behaviours from a hotel that's in desperate need of a manager and staff who understand the meaning of hospitality. Don't waste your money. Go somewhere else.
Thank WairuaS

Dear WairuaS Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your stay with us. We are sorry to read that not all expectations were met. We are in the middle of some extensive renovations and we are hoping to keep improving all of the facilities. In regards to the meeting with the Management the intentions were not to come across rude, but there are strict rules with liquor licensing and by law we are to follow those rules. We hope that you will consider staying with us again after all the renovations are completed. Warm regards

No real sign of the promised renovations.
Why do you need a copy of my photo ID?
Took $100 bond and then made me wait in reception while my room was checked for damage.... ??rooms ok but only just 3 stars
Won’t be back

Dear JohnyW1 Thank you for your stay and review. We are sorry to read that the hotel policies were not convenient. Unfortunately check-in policies must be consistent across all to guarantee the best service and best stay. Pre-authorisation on credit card is an easy alternative to "bonds" to provide guarantee for extras and incidentals. We are available should you wish to discuss further. Sincerely NC

Stayed last night. Booked and paid extra for a Superior Queen room with a Jetted Tub.
The room certainly didn’t look superior, and if it was then we would have hated to stay in a standard room.
The queen bed was two double beds and mattresses pushed together, resulting in a raised hard ridge down the centre of the bed. This meant that we each had to sleep on “our” half of the bed.

The “jetted tub” was a small standard single person bath, although it did have jets. It was certainly no tub, although it would have fitted myself (under 70Kg) with my knees bent.

The room itself was large, basic fittings, and as others on TA have said, run down. The curtains were light weight and let through the light both overnight and in the morning. Traffic noises loud.
Suggest you don’t have a room on 1st floor, even numbers face the street. Other rooms (odd numbers) and floors not assessed.

Breakfast looked basic and after our room experience we ate breakfast out. Wish we’d read TA before booking.

Dear Doc_au We are sorry to read that your experience at Hotel Armitage did not meet your expectations. We welcome your feedback and will review each point accordingly to take appropriate actions. We are sorry that the new large king split beds was not as comfortable as you would have liked. We have upgraded the beds recently online with the serval requests from our valued clientele asking for larger beds. And we will likely replace the "spa bath" in the future. We appreciate the feedback about the curtains and will address this as part of the renovations. We hope that you will give the hotel another chance and that you will try our breakfast and restaurant offer next time. Sincerely NC

My family and I stayed here over the weekend. The rooms are definitely dated and this place would really benefit from a make over. We also had my step mothers 50th Birthday here and the staff were great, so was the food. I would stay here again!
