We liked the location, manager was friendly and we were told the motel had new owners and there were going to be renovations in the near future which the place needed. However, the cleaning staff were not good. When we first arrived,we had to rewash all the dishes as they were grubby. Our rooms were not cleaned and we were there for five days. Our towels were changed daily but we couldnt do our breakfast dishes one morning because there was no dishwashing liquid. It was annoying to come home to find the dishwashing liquid replaced but they couldnt be bothered to do the dishes. Also,we didnt worry they didnt make beds tidy up etc. but we did expect them to clean the toilet.Six people in the unit.....come on.The shower was grubby as well. I think the problem was inexperienced staff. Saying this,we did enjoy our stay there.

Stayed for 3x nights - alot of pros and cons but still an all right place to stay for cost. I would wake up to dead mosquitoes on the kitchen bench - maybe from the curtain blinds or been sitting on the window sill (I had no kitchen windows open). Ceiling could do with a little wipe, must get quiet hot in the rooms bringing in the flies. Otherwise - the owner and helpers were really awesome, friendly and helpful people. Always asked if you need anything for your rooms or were available of you needed something for your room. Shower pressure was good. It was real muggy, so was good having a fan in the room. Bed was comfy, couch not so comfy. TV was fuzzy, but free wifi. They have kitchen set up so can cook or microwave food and put groceries in fridge if trying to save money on food spending. Only walking distance to the beach either left or right side. Nice and quiet from all the beach and road noise. Good location as well.

Aloha resort could do with a refresh, kitchens did not have sufficient utensils or kitchenware that we expected for self contained accom. The units could do with a good clean and water pressure not satisfactory in the shower. WiFi was intermittent and password required daily. The tv reception in the studio unit was terrible we never bothered with it. A bit more attention to detail is required especially in the peak of summer with a lot of guests. Pool doesn't show depth, as it is a family friendly motel this should be noted for safety reasons.

The photos are definitely not a true reflection of the property today. The pool was dirty, and the steps to get out of the pool are broken. There is also a broken pool cleaning machine on the grass next to the pool. The gardens were overgrown, and you cannot reach the washing lines to hang up washing as it's in an area completely overgrown. The laundry room is dirty and definitely can do with a wipe down/clean. There was no cold water in any of the taps (except the shower) and both the bathroom basin and kitchen only had hot water. There is no plug points in the bedroom. The 'sofa' in the lounge area was unstable and covered with what looked like an old duvet cover. The place is very dated and could do with a good pool clean/garden clean and thorough unit clean. It was really disappointing experience - the only upside was that the older gentleman (i presume the owner) was friendly.

This was the worst motel we have ever stayed in. We googled pet friendly motels Paihia and this was the first to come up then searched them in Expedia also came up pet friendly (that was beginning of September) so booked and mentioned under special conditions that we had two small dogs. Once checking in and unloading the manager came rushing out said we don’t take dogs we changed the policy. After he spoke to owner they agreed to let the dogs stay but charged us a cleaning fee for them. This was before we saw the room which was extremely unclean, mould in bedrooms, bathroom was discussing, could not use the kitchen. Cockroaches in the kitchen. Pool was dirty

The unit clearly needs maintenance and basic cleaning of dust, grime and stains on furnishings. There is no air conditioning, the door is not very secure, the barrel of the lock faulty. I raised concerns about the lack of cleanliness of the pool and the pool ladder only had a top rung then nothing??? Very dangerous. The manager on site advised that the pool was closed, that there was a sign in the reception. I suggested he place the sign on the pool gate because there have been people swimming in the pool the entire time we were there, including doing bombs in the pool after 10 p.m while partying in the room below us. He stated that although he lives on site he didn't see anyone in the 'closed'pool. He also said someone was coming to fix the pool, however I believe they have an obligation to point out the pool is closed when booking as that is one of the attractions in summer for a family vacation. He also said the manager has returned to Auckland and basically his attitude was to make excuses. As we were leaving another guest was approaching him to make a complaint on similar conditions. I would not recommend staying here, they are exploiting people by charging unjustified rates during Waitangi weekend when accomodation is scarce.

Very disappointing service, we went here 3yrs ago facilities before is really good & the pool, spa& gaming room is really good, well cleaned and well functional that's why i booked again for me and my partner but i was so disappointed when i enter the hotel, the pool is dirty to the point u can't see the ground because it's all chlorine, and the oven is so dirty like it hasn't been cleaned there's white stinky stained. The spa is dirty, you can smell the water it hasn't been changed, it has a stinky smell when you opened it. And the stove is dirty, all the utensils you have to rinse it again and pour hot water in it. going up to the game room once u opened the door you can smell something in there we eneded up closing it again and just stay in our room. About the wifi, guys please just use your data haha bo you have no hope to their wifi. And the room? What you see in the photo, it's not it.

I wish I had read the reviews before booking this place. My partner and I paid $188 for a twin room with a “sea view” and the picture explains how much of a “sea view” it was. There was no fresh air circulating, the room was so dusty I couldnt even lie down and enjoy a nap as I could feel the dust hitting my nostrils. the fans were just circulating dust, I told my partner we had to leave as I couldnt even stay any longer. He took the keys back and there was no one at the reception so we just left. I will never go back here and I advise everyone to never ever book this place unless you love dust and fans that circulate dust and a crap sea view and a dirty room.

This is the first review I’ve ever written but people need to know not to stay here! We walked into the room and after 10 mins left and insisted on a refund as our sons asthma flared up and my dust mite allergy kicked in. I was covered in a red rash and our son had difficult breathing. The room was dirty and covered in dust, mould and stains. There was a dirty cup on the table that wasn’t ours, there were cigarette butts and dirt on the balcony, the layer of dust on the ceiling fan was ridiculous. The shower was cracked, had soap scum and mould. The lino in the floor was bubbling. The sink tap had broken off. The pool was green… everything was terrible! I received a refund immediately from the booking company, went around the corner to Marsden Road and booked other accomodation that was a 10/10 for us and ended up being cheaper as well. We had stayed at Aloha a few times years ago and enjoyed our stay so I didn’t look at the reviews before I booked again, lesson learned. It’s obviously owned by different people and the standard has dropped massively. Do yourself a favour and avoid it at all costs.

Not difficult. The hotel is about 1 km from the wharf so you should be able to easily make the 9am cruise, either by walking or taking the hotel transport. If you have your own transport, there is also long-term parking available close by, in the centre of the shopping district.
There are more places to choose from in the Paihia area.
