I called into this establishment late at night as a solo and was given a large room for a small room price. I stayed for 3 nights . The room was clean, spacious, well priced for area. The only negative was a threat of a $50 cost if one didn't do their dishes on leaving. I thought this threat was unnecessary especially as the room had limited service during the stay

We booked this as it looked to be good value for money and close to town. We also really liked how honest the room advertisement was, as we booked the 'petite studio' so we knew to expect a small room and not to take lots of luggage (thanks to the honest advertising). When we arrived we were blown away by the friendly and warm welcoming. Everyone that worked here was SO LOVELY and kind to us, it really made for an awesome experience. We even got upgraded to a much larger room for our 3 night stay which was incredibly generous! Our room felt very clean, the bed was comfortable and it was really well equipped. Every part of this motel demonstrates the passion the wonderful owners have for their region and trade. We have stayed a lot of places this summer and because of the wonderful humans here, Edelweiss was definitely our favourite :)

This motel is located very close to the beach and great access to the highway. We booked into a 2 bedroom unit. It is adequate, clean and very tidy. The owners were also very friendly and nice.

The only critic from me is the not so great WiFi connection. I understand there is still a lack of ultra fast broadband in Paihia, so just something other visitors to be mindful of and be prepared for.

We booked 6 rooms and i asked the owner if they were providing long term accommodation for social housing as we had been warned that motels were doing this in Paihia. I explained that i had a bad experience in Tauranga and would not be placed in a similar situation again. The owner said that she definitely didnt provide social housing. We duly arrived and immediately noticed old cars in the courtyard so asked owner again if she was providing social housing. Again she plausibly denied it so we registered. For four nights we put up with parties, revving cars, blown engines with used oil over entrance and on it went. The place was a nightmare. Other guests arrived and left in early hours because of the loud music and parties. We have stayed at this motel on two other occasions with the previous owner and the stay was fantastic. The new owner was a liar and the stay disgusting. We will never stay at Edelweiss again nor will we recommend it to other tour groups we are associated with.

When we arrived at the Motel, the computer system was down, so had to tell them who we were and how long we had booked for. They asked if we booked online, as they didn't know anything. In the unit the toilet wasnt bolted to floor properly, felt unsafe sitting on it. No wifi at all, no milk on arrival. Microwave was growing mould. Under the oven elements was disgusting , opened the oven and that looked disgusting as well. Only had two pudding plates for 4 people. Didn't get fresh towels for the second day of our stay. The kitchen brush for washing the dishes looked like it had been used to clean the toilet, it was so gross. The TV didn't work when it rained, I was told that the tvs in the othe units didn't work. So we didn't watch much TV.

Our room was booked at an information centre. We were very disappointed with the room as allicated. It is the smallest studio we have seen. We found it was called a ‘petite studio’ and they were correct. Maybe there are other units that are larger but we moved on after one night deciding not to stay the second booked night. There was no room to move. A tiny bench space. No hob A microwave. No sink area so cups etc had to be washed in the handbasin. Hardly heigenic. Very disappointed. Good location as has been said. Also it was clean which was great. Overall a disappointing experience.

We used to really enjoy staying here, until our last trip when we were told they had cancelled our room.
It seems someone with a similar name cancelled their room which they thought was us, so why we couldn't have the uncancelled room I don't understand!
They didnt apologise, and merely told us to go stay someone else...
Luckily the motel next door had a room, which was cheaper and nicer, so they have gained a new customer.

My friend and I stayed here for one night on a girl’s trip away, the room was clean and ready for us when we arrived and we received very prompt and friendly service from Jo and her husband. She was nice to talk to and very helpful with our requests. Nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting to stay close to the main Centre of Paihia with great service!

This is the worst motel we have ever experienced. It smelt terrible. Carpets and floors felt dirty. There were less than minimal amenities in the kitchen.
We were downstairs from manager and the noise from upstairs was unacceptable.
On the positive side sheets on bed looked and felt clean and beds were comfortable. Internet was reliable.

Sunnyvale, California
do you have a hot tub? Is that what you mean by spa pool?
Answer from Alyayde
Northland Region, New Zealand78 contributions24 helpful votes
They have a large spa pool beside the pool. Im pretty sure in NZ our Spas are what you call hot tubs. It heats its own water, has chlorine in it and bubbles up and can seat a few people, try googling spa pool nz and see what images come up. Their swimming pool is also heated. Hope this helps.
