Allegra House, our spacious, modern home with an apartment and 3 bed and breakfast rooms located just up the hill from central Paihia. All rooms have spectacular views out across the bay. The house has gardens, balconies and native bush for guests to enjoy during their time in this peaceful but convenient location - less than 10 minutes walk down to restaurants, cafes and boat departures and maybe just a bit longer for the walk uphill on the bush track. Brita and Heinz have lived in the area since early 1990s and love to help you enjoy your time here. French and German spoken. Breakfast included in B & B rooms and an optional extra in the apartment.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed 3 nights in this beautifully presented lodge house with stunning ocean views from all 4 bedrooms. Our room was spacious, well provisioned and spotlessly clean. Breakfast on the terrace was a real treat with a choice of meats, cheeses, eggs, cereals, various berries and fruits finishing with beautiful homemade sour dough bread with Manuca honey and other preserves. Copeous fresh coffee and various teas. Spectacular. THANK YOU to our hosts.

Top quality accommodation with a variety of room options. Originally booked 3 nights then added an extra 2 because we were enjoying our stay so much. Because of that we got to experience 2 different room options (the apartment -very spacious, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, separate bedroom, good storage, large bathroom, front deck, back garden setting off bedroom; and an Island View room -the bed had an unimpeded view right out to sea, tea/coffee-making facilities and good sized bathroom). All rooms are modern and clean and have close sea views across the top of Paihia's city centre, out to the open ocean and islands and over to Russell, glimpses towards Opua as well depending on which room you have. There are several decks/chairs to use to enjoy the view from and relax, all surrounded by lovely, peaceful gardens. There is also a path through the gardens down to Paihia. An inviting and spacious lounge is available for guests to use, not that we had that need. The breakfasts are fantastic and include a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, homemade bread and preserves, croissants, cold meats, cheeses, eggs cooked to your choosing, fresh coffee, tea and juice. The hosts are awesome! They are welcoming, friendly, relaxed, have a sense of humour, generous, experienced and knowledgeable about the area. Overall, a wonderful alternative to busy and crowded hotels and motels. We would definitely go back anytime of the year! A great place to relax, recharge and enjoy the view!

Brita & Heinz are perfect hosts.
The first morning we could smell the fresh bread cooking. Breakfast was delicious and kept us going for most of the day.
As hard as it was to leave the beautiful view
Brita recommended a day island trip and even helped us book the morning of.
Heinz dropped my husband and I along with another couple at the waterfalls so that we could walk the track through to Waitangi and back to Paihia.
The rooms are set up with privacy in mind, whilst our hosts were never far away if we needed something we felt like we were in our own little patch of paradise.
Can’t wait to go back !

Stayed at Allegra House for 4 days and had a wonderful time. This B&B is a gem located at the top of the hill overlooking the Bay. Short 10-minute walk down to the bay. Breakfast was served with the unobstructed view of the Bay of Islands. The owners knew the area well and gave great recommendations. I love the sourdough bread she bakes everyday! The bedrooms are separated well so you don't hear any guests at all during the night. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

This was a first-time experience in a B n B and we loved it! The hosts are wonderful people who really put in the extra mile for their guests. Our room was located on the bottom floor, it had a very luxurious feel with everything you need. The location was good with a little hike through the bush track to town. Our favorite was the views nothing compares, Wow just wow! Overall excellent stay we will be back :-)

We spent the first 3 nights of our New Zealand holiday in this wonderful location. We had the Top Suite and it was a very nicely appointed room with our own balcony overlooking the Bay of Islands. It was a fantastic view. The hosts, Heinz and Brita, could not be more welcoming - we had a lovely piece of home made cake on our arrival. The breakfast was very good - choice of several cereals , fruit ,cheese and meats. Also lovely home made bread and cooked eggs if you want them. You are a few minutes drive from town or a 10 minute walk down a path through the garden ( bit longer on the way back up as it is on a hill). Room was well appointed and comfortable. It had a good shower with plenty of hot water and very environmentally friendly packaging of the toiletries. There are facilities to do some washing or have some done. Would highly recommend Allegra House.

Britta and Heinz are the best hosts: a warm welcome and then a very beautiful suite with stunning views over the entire bay which was mine for 2 lovely nights. The bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and full facilities for tea and coffee. But the best part is the little enclosed balcony with easy chairs to read or just watch the view and the bay boat traffic. I was travelling by myself which is still a novelty and Britta and Heinz went out of their way to ensure I had all I wanted including juggling restaurant bookings.
The breakfast was substantial if you wanted it - I had fresh fruit and muesli but made up for that with Britta's home made bread and plum jam served with fresh coffee on the sunny terrace.
Warmly recommended

Our stay of 3 nights in an action packed 6 week touring holiday of New Zealand turned out to be one of our most treasured and memorable highlights. What an amazing place with fantastic hosts Brita and Heinz who helped make our stay so unforgettable. There was a genuine friendly welcome, rooms very well prepared to a high standard (views from our top floor room with large balcony) could not be easily beaten and nothing appeared too much trouble. Specially and freshly prepared Breakfasts were a highlight and felt like an extended family affair and were available on the lower balcony with Bay views or inside the large kitchen area dependent upon personal taste and weather - both would be fantastic. Additional local interest locations were freely and helpfully provided from swimming points across the bay by Ferry or local Vineyards to visit as an example or local Restaurants to visit. Should we return to New Zealand in the future then the Bay of Islands and Allegra House would be a definite inclusion for us.

My partner and I had a lovely stay at Allegra House over labour weekend. Brita is a warm and friendly host and the self contained apartment we stayed in was spotless, beautifully furnished and comfortable. Situated in lush bush we had a beautiful view of the bay from our private deck which had a dining table and bbq. We cooked one evening but when you want to sample Paihia's restaurants you can follow the track that starts at your deck down through the bush and you'll be in town in a matter of minutes. A wonderful place run by lovey people. We'd highly recommend staying

We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay on our trip to Paihia and The Bay of Islands. Allegra House was just perfect, our room on the top floor was simply amazing with a large outside balcony to sit and soak up the magnificent views across to Russell. The first night we slept with the curtains open so we could awake to the sun rising...amazing!! Heinz & Brita are wonderful hosts, we enjoyed great conversations whilst eating a superb hearty breakfast, the best B&B breakfast we've ever had. The bed, pillows, linen, shower & kitchen facilities were top class, you won't find any fault with your stay here, I highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!

We certainly to have hair dryers in all our rooms. We live here too so are happy for guests to ask for any extras bits and pieces they need to help them feel comfortable and relaxed. Best wishes to all our future and previous guests. Brita & Heinz
Sorry that I didn't spot this question on Trip Advisor but the future guest did email us and I was able to confirm what all our other wonderful previous guests have said - Yes we do provide hair dryers in the rooms. We look forward to seeing Julie R
