My boyfriend and I stayed at Chalet Romantica for 2 nights and Nadine our host was just amazing. We arrived mid morning and the room was already made up for us with lots of extra friendly welcoming touches - choccies, biscuits, welcome card. The room was equipped with everything we needed - hair straightners, water bottles, towels, dressing gowns, hairdryer, GREAT toiletries, sunscreen, bug spray, nail varnish remover, tea bags - you name it, they had it! Car park space right next to the rooms private entrance was ideal, and this entrance meant that you didn't have to come through the main house too which was an added bonus. Nadine was super helpful in helping to plan our days in Paihia and gave us recommendations for places to eat, things to see. The glass of bubbles left for each of us in the fridge when we returned from our long walk on day 1 was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. Bed was super comfy, and the room was perfect size. Breakfast was to die for! Amazing selection of croissants and fruit, yoghurts, cereals, tea coffee and juice. And the option for something cooked such as eggs benedict was above and beyond what we were expecting. Also awesome views of the Bay of Islands from the breakfast table. 100% would recommend this b&b to anyone and if we ever return to Bay of Islands would not hesitate to book a stay at Chalet Romantica again. Every cloud has a silver lining and Chalet Romantica was definitely ours. We had been let down by a much anticipated stay at one of Paihia’s premier hotels (which was anything but) so we were incredibly lucky that the beautiful Retreat room was available at very short notice. The room is on the ground floor and has a lovely terrace with views over the hills and a private parking space. Inge is the most delightful host, she made us very welcome and we felt so blessed that we could enjoy her hospitality and home for 3 nights. She provides a breakfast tower on the first night which lasted us for 2 breakfasts and several snacks. Everything about Chalet Romantica is very carefully thought through from the gorgeous organic toiletries to the homemade biscuits, thank you Inge, if we ever come back to NZ I can’t think of a nicer place to stay.

When visiting the extraordinary Bay of Islands, this is the place to stay. Quiet, elevated location in a residential neighbourhood. Very nice welcome from the Austrian/Swiss owner couple who run a spotless B&B. Lovely room with wonderful artistic detailing. Comfortable bed and practical bathroom with walk-in shower. Had the weather been more on our side, we could also have enjoyed the very inviting balcony and lovely view a bit more. A delicious breakfast hamper is provided on the first day. Easy 5 minute walk to the bus station and ferry dock. Our host Inge suggested we have dinner at the Duke of Marlborough on the other side of the bay and made the reservation for us. Delightful 15 minute evening ferry ride to a good meal waiting on the other side. Not to be missed. In the end, we were sorry we hadn't planned to stay longer at the Chalet Romantica.

We stayed for almost a week in the Bellevue suite. It was spotless, with a big balcony with comfy outdoor furniture and gorgeous views over the bay toward Russell. The unit also had two air-conditioners (one in lounge and one in the bedroom) in case it got warm.
Inge totally spoiled us. Chocolates and flowers on the bed when we arrived. And a relaxing dip in the hot tub every evening. We loved getting to know her and Ed too. They’ve lived in Paihia for a long time, and they were generous and lovely hosts.
We can’t wait to go back! Dance sehr, Inge!

A truly beautiful property all round! It is certainly a feast for the eyes when you first walk into your suite and see the stunning views and how absolutely gorgeous the suite is and how beautifully it has been set up for your stay - a real WOW! Quality items throughout and exquisite touches everywhere - we just loved it.
Scrumptious breakfast provisions are also provided in the room and it was lovely just relaxing on the deck in the morning enjoying the views with our brekkie and cuppas.
The hosts, Inge and Eddie, are super friendly and helpful and leave you in peace to relax and enjoy but they are on call if you need anything at all during your stay.
We absolutely loved our stay - thank you so very much.

My husband, adult daughter and I spent a couple of nights at Chalet Romantica just before Christmas 2019, and cannot speak highly enough of the beautiful accommodation, wonderful food and friendly approach that awaited us with Nadine and Inge. Our suite had a wonderful view over the Bay of Islands, and the bedroom/bathroom and living/kitchen area had everything we could possibly need including homemade cookies and a wide variety of teabags and coffee. Breakfast is served in a bright, airy dining area with spectacular views over the lush garden and water beyond. The offerings on the table were also luscious and beautifully presented. Nothing was too much trouble, including advice and help with booking local excursions. Chalet Romantica is a very special place, and you are made to feel special as a guest at this classy place.

Chalet Romantica was recommended to us from a couple who had stayed there around 10 years ago and boy were we not disappointed. The quality of this B&B is exceptional with its great view over the Bay of Islands. Leanne and I were able to sit out on our veranda and watch the passing parade of ferries and fishing boats. The room & facilities were excellent & Nadine was very friendly, helpful & made us feel at home. The breakfast spread was excellent and nothing was a problem. Nadine was able to change our booking for our cruise to the Hole in the Rock due to changing weather conditions. I will surely be recommended to stay at Chalet Romantica to our family and friends who visit the area.

Have just spent 4 nights staying at this wonderful accommodation which is perfectly located in Paihia and the views from the rooms are just wow. We were warmly welcomed by Inge who couldn't have been more helpful from the beginning to the end of our stay. We stayed in the Romantica Suite at the very top of the house and the climb up all the stairs was certainly worth it. Lovely breakfast provisions and the best room to shelter from the rain on our last day. Would recommend without hesitation and would love to return someday even though its a long way from home

What a beautiful, relaxing, and special visit to Paihia mainly because of the stay at Chalet Romantica and Nadine. We were greeted by Nadine and immediately had a beautiful overview of the area including logistics, restaurants, and very helpful visitor’s information. Our room had a beautiful view with a kitchenette. We had an early morning tour and Nadine offered a bountiful breakfast to be delivered to our room since we would miss the group meal (very impressive). We were very appreciative of laundry facilities. Group breakfasts were superb and served on the beautiful patio. Location was very nice being walking distance to town but located in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood. Thank you again Nadine for making our trip to the Bay of Islands a very special experience. P. S.
