Quiet motel with plenty of space and an amazing view to boot. Perfect for a budget conscious family with teens who need a reasonably sized space with separate bedrooms and living area. As a bonus we were able to bring our fur baby (medium sized dog) with us for no additional charge and he was allowed inside with us - much cheaper than an Air B&B or Bachcare. Shelagh and Norm were so accommodating, friendly and kind. The weather was a bit miserable unfortunately, so we made plenty of use of the free DVD library and the heated pool. The motel is a little dated in its decor perhaps (if you care about that kind of thing) but it is spotlessly clean with lovely hosts. Very handy to the Phat House Brewery that has yummy pizza and is also dog friendly.

Amazing place , while we initially thought it was out of the way was only 3 mins to Paihia town.

Being with a young child was perfect as you don't get all the noise of people partying or after leaving the clubs or any traffic noise.

While definitely an older style of Motel everything needed was there was spotlessly clean and rooms get attended daily.

Me being 6ft4 and 115kg the beds were surprisingly comfortable.

The beautiful Haruru falls only 10min walk each way.

Good size heated pool and BBQ area that is able to be used.

Thanks Norm and Shelagh definitely see you again.

Thanks Andrew and whanau.

Thanks for the lovely review Andrew. It was nice to meet you and your family, we look forward to seeing you all again next time you can get away for a break. It's good to hear you found the beds comfortable, they are all Sleepyhead Hotelier beds and designed to be comfortable for most of the people most of the time which is as much as accommodation providers can do given the wide range of shapes and sizes of guests. We are glad you enjoyed the pool and our quiet location, well worth the short drive from the busy town centre.

We stayed at this accommodation with our 4 children aged 10-15 years and we were so sad that we only booked 2 nights of our trip here. Norm and Shelagh are the most helpful accommodating hosts you could ask for, all our needs were met with a friendly genuine smile and nothing was too much trouble. The kids loved the pool area and our unit was spotlessly clean and well laid out giving us all enough space. The free DVD library and books were a lovely option for our family. The view from this property is just simply ‘food for the soul’. If we are ever lucky enough to visit Paihia again we will not consider staying anywhere else. Thank you Norm and Shelagh for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

From the moment we set foot on the property we instantly felt welcomed by Norm and Shelagh and we felt like we had been transported to a motel from our childhood.... we loved a jug of milk provided upon arrival. There isn't anything flashy about this motel, but they aren't trying to be. In Reception there is a plethora of DVDs to borrow, which was a highlight for the kids! Our 2 bedroom unit was spacious and provided everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The pool was absolutely amazing and the kids loved jumping on the trampoline and then playing in the water. It was family friendly, and our hosts entertained our childrens' curiousities and questions. We loved using the BBQ and the kitchen was great for cooking our own meals. If you're looking for a quaint, quiet spot with incredible views of Paihia and Russell, then this is the place for you!

My partner and our three kids stayed here for 2 nights for the six 60 concert in Waitangi. Location and views were amazing, nice and quiet away from the madness of town but only a 5min drive away from it all so best of both worlds! The sunrise from the pool was well worth setting the alarm for too - stunning! We had a 2 bedroom apartment and it was roomy enough for 5 of us, with everything you could need in the kitchen. The pool and pool area was great - kids lived in it! But I think what made it extra special was the owners Norm and Shelagh - they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and kindly dropped us off and picked us up from the concert at 11.30pm at night! Such amazing people!

Clean and tidy motel units with an amazing view. Located a short drive from Paihia these motel units are very quiet and peaceful. The view is nothing short of spectacular and can be enjoyed from inside the rooms or outside from the deck. Norm & Shelagh are fantastic hosts as well. Due to circumstances beyond our control we arrived at 11:30pm. Norm and Shelagh stayed up late to welcome us and were great hosts throughout the duration of our stay.

If you are looking for a peacful motel unit with great hosts and an amazing view then Cooks Lookout Motels would be our recommendation.

We really enjoyed our February 2020’s three night’s stay at Cook’s Lookout Motel. Norm and Shelagh were so welcoming and friendly, with their very British sense of humor and good advice on all the great sights and good restaurants, both in nearby Paihia (5 minutes drive) and charming Russell across the bay (by ferry and not to be missed). The room provided all we needed, including a well-furnished kitchenette. The motel is also equipped with a swimming pool that we did not get to enjoy, being too busy sightseeing. Be advised that this is a motel, not the Ritz Carlton. What you are assured to find here isn’t luxury, but clean, simple and well-maintained accommodation with unsurpassed views of the Bay of Islands. In fact, we were fortunate to be given room number 3, on the property’s highest point, with its sunny terrace and 270° views of the countryside and ocean, all in absolutely perfect weather. Adjacent rooms number 1 and 2 seemed to be also very pleasant, but be aware that room number one’s terrace is less sunny and has more limited views. As for room number two, it sits directly behind number three, therefore offering more obstructed views of the bay through smaller windows.
All in all, what a pleasant stay we had in this wonderful part of New Zealand!

Myself, husband and 3 children stayed for 4 nights and had a lovely relaxing break. We often struggle with accomodation for a family of 5 and this was really spaciious. We have stayed in the area on numerous occasions, but this Motel is just the right spot with the view, just beautiful. Pool was great really safe for my youngest but also great size for the rest of the family. The kids loved the tramp to. Owners really helpful, got anything we needed, but just left us to it otherwise. Really good spot, short drive to Paihia, handy to the supermarket but also a little dairy really close if you need. Will come again!

My husband and I had a lovely relaxing 3 nights stay here, in a lovely quiet room overlooking the amazing view of Waitangi and Russell, we really enjoyed ourselves.
Norm and Shelagh are great hosts, we loved talking to them, we have stayed here before, so it was nice to escape the hustle and bustle of town.

Every day the view was different.

The BEST view. Warm and dry. Spacious! And a Pool ! More like a bach than a motel room. Everything we needed, comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen. Hosts Norm and Sheila are so welcoming and have all the Local knowledge: Paihia fish and chips - next to the Post Office- the best in town: succulent fish, crispy batter, generous portions! And childhood memories come flooding back with homemade Eccles cakes from Breeze cafe.
