Excellent for a budget stay close to the waterfront area. Plenty of shops and restaurants very close. Some parts of the motel are older. Everything you need is there. As a group of two couples we took two studio rooms overlooking the road. There was a deck area with a large table and umbrella which was perfect for meals. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

This cosy place is right in the heart of everything, shops, bars, ferry terminal & the Swordfish club! We walked to everything & left the car. Great kitchen & veranda for our afternoon drinks. Lovely staff, room was cleaned daily. Highly recommended !

We spent 2 nights here at the end of January, We'd never stayed in a motel before and this gem of a find surpassed our expectations by a mile. The accommodation was well presented and spotless with everything provided that you would need for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable too!

The location is perfect, on a quiet side street yet only a short stroll to the seafront, shops and restaurants. The well stocked supermarket is also very near for all your essentials.

The staff were very friendly and helpful - we just called in on spec after walking by and liking the look of the place from the outside. The motel is just next to the small Police station so I think a quiet night is guaranteed!

Rooms were reasonably clean although we found items under the bed left from previous occupants. Room with double bed and single bed was adequate; double bed filled width of the room so nowhere to move and no ventilation. We were there just as cyclone gabrielle was coming so for safety reasons had to leave two nights earlier than planned. Motel were absolutely unhelpful or friendly when asked to meet us halfway as we had already paid four 4 nights and only stayed 2. We thus ended up unexpectedly having to pay for another 2 nights in the middle of the north island. There was no compassion shown, they weren't even willing to refund one of the 2 nights not used.

My wife and I have stayed at the Outrigger around five times over several years and it is now looking very tired and in need of a makeover. The item that needs to be replaced first is the double bed, which was well past its use by date. Having said that, the Outrigger enjoys prime position in Paihia.

Warm welcome from the owner who also left a welcome bottle of milk in the fridge and coffees and teas for me. Very clean and tidy with everything you would want for a simple motel. I would definitely stay here again - free parking and local supermarket and shops, cash machine and beach close-by.

Suzi and Greg were most accommodating when we arrived early from our long flight from USA. They let us store our luggage and recommended somewhere to go until the room was ready. The Outrigger Hotel is in the center of town, but quiet and we could walk everywhere. The room was very clean with everything you would need. Bathroom is good sized and the landscaping is great. We would stay there again.

We highly recommend this centrally located motel in Paihia.
Facilities - everything that you need. Easy walking to shops and restaurants, just minutes from the Bay. Plenty of parking at the motel.
Hosts - Suzi and Gregg are welcoming and helpful, with good knowledge of the area and plenty of suggestions for places to visit, local restaurants etc.
Spotlessly clean, spacious enough, good shower, plenty of towels etc
Would give it 5/5 if the bed was a bit more comfortable - but no complaints

Very clean establishment, the owners were very friendly. Location to town was excellent, the Motel is in one of the main streets but still quiet. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Be aware that if you struggle with stairs you need to ask for a ground floor apartment.

This is a lovely little motel, always clean and tidy, and the owners are very friendly. I only go once a year, but they remember me, a nice touch. The rooms are more than big enough, and they are always spotless. I ordered breakfast which arrived at the appointed time, and it was very large and tasty, I didn't need morning tea. The other benefit about this motel is its position, right by the shops, restaurants and only a few metres from the waterfront, off the main road, so its nice a quiet. Whats not to like. I will be back next year and maybe earlier.
