While the Metro Hotel Perth City is commended for its central location, offering guests convenient access to city attractions and events, reviewers frequently find the rooms to be in need of maintenance, noting noise and dated decor. The hotel's atmosphere is often described as unwelcoming, with some guests likening it to a chaotic emergency room. Opinions on value are divided; some consider it a budget-friendly option, while others are put off by the quality and unexpected costs. The staff's friendliness is a highlight for many, despite occasional reports of neglect. Amenities and cleanliness receive mixed reviews, with free parking being a notable plus.

We stayed at this hotel twice last December, and again at two occasions this year. This is a good, no frills budget place, but good and central location. It's especially good if you rent a car from the excellent Bayswater which is located very nearby. The hotel is also convieniently located near Swan River.

It's quite clean, spacioius and staff are friendly. Wifi can be a hit or miss depending on where in the hotel you get a room. One time it was terrible, second time excellent.

This hotel was my hotel for one night when I was staying in Perth. The combination of cheap prices and location to the centre of Perth made it ideal for going into Perth for dinner and lunch. The rooms are very clean and tidy. As well, the rooms are also very spacious, which made for a very pleasant stay. The staff are very helpful and willing to help with any problems. Overall, I would highly recommend the Comfort Hotel Perth City. !

Stayed for 1 week in Oct 2024 on the 5th floor. I booked directly on the hotel's website as it has the best rates. The room is spacious (I was able to open up my luggage and lay it on the floor without it blocking the walkway), is clean, has no smell. All the staffs are friendly and helpful. The location is very good, being near to bus-stops (free CAT buses to explore Perth), various restaurants (Western and Eastern food), supermarkets (fresh local fruits and vegetables), various gardens (ponds, fowl). I like that there are shelves next to the clothing cupboard, it allows me to layout my items (on the shelves, instead of on the floor) for easy access.
There are laundry and dryer machines on the 5th floor (pay per use), very useful.
The bath has shampoo, conditioner, body-wash dispenser. The basin has soap, shaving cream dispenser, so you need not bring any person hygiene supplies. Overall I feel it is value for money.
Some very minor issues (just my own bias preference)
- some pillows are a-bit flat
- no hotel slippers
- coffee mug has no saucers
- plastic kettle (microplastics issue. metal or glass kettle is preferred)
- good to have a shared microwave in some central area/ floor.
My main issue
- the electric heater seems to only output very hot or very cold water. Much water is wasted while attempting to adjust it to warm water, without any success. Only towards the end of the week did I saw the supermarket selling buckets. I bought one (AUD 2.10), I think it's a 9 liter bucket and finally have warm water shower (and it saves water also).

We arrived in Perth at 2.30am and got a taxi straight from the airport. As it was in the middle of the night we had to press a buzzer and wait for someone to speak to us through the speaker, however they were either asleep or could not be bothered, so pressed the buzzer for a long time, finally someone came over the speaker which was distorted and they were telling me off for leaving my finger on the buzzer, they let us in and again he started telling us off about the buzzer, we totally ignored him stating our name and how many nights we were stating, i think he finally got the idea gave us a key and vouchers to get our breakfast.
We just went to bed and viewed the room in the morning.
Definitely needs redecorating, bed seem to go go slightly downhill head as we felt our feet were higher than our heads, pillows were flat, we had a sheet then a duvet which was had seen better days and needs a new one and then a top sheet.
Bathroom was basic, did have a shower although it made some strange nosies and the temperature was up and down, no plug in the hand basin, there were toiletries which we never used.
Breakfast was very basic, just some cold meats, cold hard boiled egg, salad and toast. If you wanted cook you had to pay along with Croissants, pain au raisin etc.
Reception staff during the day were pleasant and very helpful, always had a smile.

Getting around it was in a good position to get around the city, it was close to the Freebus service called the cat service which you can hop on and off at any time.

Would we stay again - No - there's plenty of hotels in Perth .

this is lengthy but please read before staying!!! WARNING!!
the foyer doors have to be opened by a staff member inside and the windows are mirrored- on arrival you're wondering if you are in the right place. press a button to talk to someone inside and they will let you in....
I go in and just get asked the name of the booking and then handed the eftpos machine to pay with a quick verbal wifi password in passing, i asked where i can park my car and was told "yes we have parking" this went back and forth 3 times for me to get a simple answer of where i can park.
then i was told i had to pay a further $50 security bond for the room that was never mentioned in the booking and given the eftpos machine again?
trial and error we figured out how to navigate the closed off street to park, circling the block 3 times and then travelling through the fire escape stairwell maze across another car park and back to the foyer.
the next day we went out and on return none of our access keys were working, we had room 303, i took them to the counter was told sorry and given back keys that had 306 on them and these worked to let us in our room.
we were woken up at 4am by the fire alarm Sunday morning.
NO ONE! knew what was going on or directed in any way to safety, guests were standing in room door ways asking each other what is happening because the fire alarm does not sound like a fire alarm? once we smelt smoke we understood and headed down the fire stairs from the 3rd floor. out the front the fire department was there and the staff were just standing over to the side by themselves with no idea what to do, i over heard the fireman say a faulty isolator (but just read a previous review this happened a month back too!)
no one was told to go back in and we were all standing out side, barely in clothes, in 4'C. once the fire truck left people started assuming we could go back inside.
we decided that's enough and time to check out, we went back up to our room to grab our things, i lifted up the bed to make sure nothing was dropped and lost under there before leaving and that's when we saw a used dirty baby nappy, food scraps and waste.
i advised the 2 staff members at the counter on checking out and they just smiled and said thank you, i reiterated did you just hear what i said? and they replied it's ok you can go now..
the atmosphere of this hotel is likened to out the front of hospital emergencies 2am on a Saturday morning if you've ever had the experience, this is not somewhere i will ever recommend or ever come back to- someone else previously wrote spend the extra $50 and stay at the ibis and i can completely understand why! i just wish i read the reviews first this is no where near a 2 star hotel
i will be passing on to health and safety authorities, the emergency procedure is not practiced or non existent and the cleaning does not happen and from the review responses is just blamed on the staff rather than the management of the business.
the only positive i can give is the location, being in the city it was close to the events we were going to coming from regional WA.

I picked this hotel because parking costs a lot in Perth. There are about 20 parking spots that's first come first served. Only 2 or 4 might fit a longer car. I had no issues finding a spot although I go in and out at odd times. There free overnight street parking too that ends at 8am infront of the hotel. There might be more free parking further away, I didn't look.

I had no problems with the wifi. I think it dropped once for a few minutes along with mobile signal so it seems like a bigger outtage that's not about the hotel.

The room itself is very basic. It's not new or pretty but it served its purpose. The chairs were worn and needed replacing. I had to put a towel over it to sit on. I think the carpet was clean but it didn't look clean so I think it was just old and tired looking. The size of the room was quite large. I think it could have fit two queen beds.

I had a basic economy room that came with a kettle and fridge but no microwave. Both appliances worked.

My room was made whenever I didn't have the do not disturb sign on. No complaints.

Great location, lovely staff and so close to everything. Walking distance to shopping, Swan River and other attractions. The airport is only 15 minutes away and I would recommend this place to stay as it is great value for money. Also the air-conditioning is really good after a hot day outside..

Really good location - close to everything.
Room was standard - had everything you needed. Quite spacious for what you pay.
Cleaners came everyday which was a blessing when you have a toddler.
Only thing I really disliked was the parking - barely any and that stressed me out. I would happily pay addition for a parking spot to be saved for me.
