We picked the hotel based on price / location as well as the laundry / kitchen facilities. Location is great and the best thing about the hotel. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful, as noted elsewhere not 24 hour reception. Laundry room is only open when reception is open and we appreciated being able to wash / dry clothes on our long trip. Room was basic and clean, couch was in a weird position - under the TV! A few things would make the rooms much better eg better soundproofing, fixing gaps between windows and frame. We were woken up most mornings by the traffic / noise of restaurant below around 7am. Kitchen was sufficient to cook in, we made 4 meals in it over 7 days. Also useful to be able to keep breakfast / lunch stuff in fridge. There was some evidence that the hotel is trying to be sustainable e.g soap, recycled toilet paper. Again a few improvements here eg offer recycling bins would be great. Overall, a good stay.

Stayed at the Riverview on Mount Street for a week as a couples trip. Do note that this is not a conventional hotel, its a boutique hotel so check-in/out times, amenities provided etc are different.

The reception is only open until 7pm, so if its check out day you can only leave ur bags till 7pm. I had a late 2am flight back home and thought i could leave my baggage till night but i couldnt.

Pros :
1. They have a kitchen, small but useful. However my utensils were super dirty when i came as if someone just rinsed it. Had tons of food residue.
2. Middle of the city, kings park is a less than 10 minute walk (uphill though) and theres a bridge that directly connects you to the CBD. The Elizabeth Quay bus station is also a less than 10 mins walk so u can get anywhere from there. The free CAT bus stop on Mount Street is super close by too.
3. Very quiet at night. It's in a high end neighbourhood so no homeless people around at night.
4. The room is quite spacious for 2, very worth ur money

Cons :
1. They only provide the most basic amenities. No toothpaste or body wash just bar soap.
2. The toilet is quite small and poor ventilation, we came during winter-spring so we took hot showers and the steam would take forever to go away and would wet the walls.
3. Reception time is very short so if u have any problems with ur room u should take it up with them before 5pm
4. They don't do room service. Only change ur sheets once if u stay for a week. They give u new towels every 2 days.
5. NO INTERNAL LOCKS ON THE DOOR! this worried me the most as theres no real lock it just automatically locks from the outside but its a twisted handle. Had to put a chair in-front of my door every night cause I was scared.

All in all, i would recommend this for couples or single travellers at most. A no for families. The place is perfect in the middle of the city but its definitely a boutique hotel/motel at most

By booking without the free cancellation or housekeeping, it was $90aud per night for a 7 night stay.
Fresh towels and rubbish pick up were offered every second day.

The location is a short easy walk into the CBD (<10 minutes).
The building is quite old, but it is in a quiet location, and has been well refurbished.
The front desk is manned from 7.00am to 7.00pm. After hours check in was no problem and well handled. Staff were friendly.
The in house cafe is open until 1.00pm.

Room 314 was looking onto other buildings, so it wasn't a great view, but it had a large sunny balcony area (about 5m x 2.5m). And while the room was no smoking, the balcony is approved for smoking (for those that smoke).
The split air con did a good job.
The flat screen TV was about 96cm with plenty of channels, and there is a usb port on the back that will charge your phone (only charges when the TV is on, and make sure the TV is on first, before plugging in the charger cable).
The shower (no bath) was well sized, and the hot and cold water was plentiful.
The queensize bed was comfortable. There is an extra blanket in the top of the wardrobe if you want it.
The blackout curtains work very well.

The kitchen area had a 2 seat table, a 120L fridge, a 4 burner cooktop, a microwave, kettle and toaster. There was a selection of utensils and crockery.
I found everything I needed to cook light meals.

This was a really good value stay for me,and I would be very happy to stay in room 314 again.

I would avoid this hotel at all costs. The owner is incredibly rude to paying customers. My partner booked a week at this hotel for work and upon check in was told by the reception he could park his small landscape truck in the parking area. All was fine for a few days until my partner heard loud banging at his door, when he opened the door the owner yelled at him ‘get your f*cking truck out of my car park’ over and over again. If parking the truck in the car park was an issue he could’ve said it nicely but to scream and swear at a paying customer is absolutely disgusting. My partner ended up getting a refund for the rest of the week and checked out immediately. The staff acknowledged the owner flys off the handle at times and apologised.

Loved our time here, the central location made it so easy to see all Perth has to offer holidaymakers. We used the free bus lines and inexpensive public transport. The kitchen facility in our room was very handy and had everything we needed to cook an evening meal. Room was very clean and quiet and the staff were friendly. Only 4 minute walk to bus stop, we caught the 380 bus from the airport and changed to the 935 bus all up $2.10 for seniors, to the hotel, the stop for the hotel is Malcolm and Harvest Terrace. Be sure to catch the train to Fremantle and ferry to Rottnest Is, a great day out. The visitor centre has really good free walking tours. The overpass up to St George Terrace is a quick walk to the CBD and Woolworths. The free blue CAT bus to Kings Park saves a steep climb, the views are beautiful. The red CAT bus goes to the Perth Station and fares are capped at $4.90, can catch it up Milligan and Hay St, the WA Art Gallery is near the rear of the station.

Not what I expected. Best thing was the location and the breakfast venue downstairs (although we didn’t use the menu looked good). The place is tired and I. Need of repair, which Looked like they were beginning. The room was clean and comfy enough but not what the photos sold! The toilet was really low(weird) and they had a kitchen but no cheese or bread knife!
If they spent a bit of money on this heritage type place it could be very good

The venue was great! When we arrived in the morning, the restaurant downstairs was packed (Sunday morning). The room was comfortable and quiet and it was within walking distance to King’s Park and the CBD and the train station. Buses downtown were free and Perth is a beautiful, clean city. The restaurant was very popular with the locals and the food was good.

Stayed here for a week while visiting family. I really enjoyed my stay. Amazing location and easy access to the freeway. I also had to work during the daytime from my room so I also appreciated the stable and fast WiFi connection. The room was perfect for me with a fully equipped kitchen. I would stay here again.

Stay here when I can as really like how central it is. Has parking on site & reception are extremely friendly & helpful. Rooms are good size with own kitchen. Nice & clean & very comfy bed. You can get a really great brekky in the restaurant that is not outrageously expensive with good choices available. Plenty of good walking right from out front.

What a joy to find this delightful spot. Tucked in about 100m below Kings Park, overpass into the City about 100m, you won't find a more comfortable, cosy and homely place. The cafe is an enticing snd offers modern and exciting options. Due to the coronavirus, the restaurant and bar were not open at night but from a mouthwatering breakfast to an afternoon tea, you will be satisfied.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.

The price is the only difference. I've stayed there long and short stay trips. For reference they consider 3 nights to be a long stay and if you book direct you get free wifi.
