Duxton Hotel Perth garners appreciation for its comfortable rooms, equipped with appreciated extras like complimentary water, though some visitors point out the walls can be on the thin side and the decor a tad outdated. Guests have called out the hotel's exemplary cleanliness and the central location that's close to Perth's key attractions.
However, opinions are split on value, as overpriced amenities and inconsistent services have been a concern. The hotel's atmosphere and modern furnishings, especially the cozy beds and pillows, are frequently praised, but the club lounge offerings may not meet everyone's expectations.

Having stayed at the Duxton in October 2019,Club King Room, we were keen to get back for 3 days of time out and relaxation, this time in a Club King Suite.
Very grateful for Groupon value deal, we walked into our suite, room 601, to find lounge and dining, tv, desk and fridge etc on entering suite. Great for entertaining or separate space from the bedroom for those who get up early, like my husband, while I stay asleep in bed until 0830.
The separate marble bathroom with large bath and stand alone shower another bonus as we love big baths.
The king bedroom at one end very private from rest of suite is quite and spacious. Another tv also there.
What I like about the Duxton, is the quality of facilities and the service.
With Club rooms comes the exclusive access to the Executive Lounge... forget about the restaurant.. this access comes with complimentary canapes and drinks from 5 to 7pm each night with a variety of food each night such as crab claws, spring rolls, indian curry pastries, curry pies, octopus or prawn or beef canapes, sushi, cold larder, etc as well as complimentary breakfast each morning from 6 to 11am summertime (6 to 10.30am winter).
I must compliment Angela at the Executive Lounge. Angela is the hostess and is amazing at her job. With a great attitude she moves around helping you with your request, order or query whilst making you feel important and cared for. She is professional, efficient and friendly with a beautiful smile!
Complimentary water and soft drinks in your room also restocked daily. Bed turned down each night with a yummy chocolate on each pillow.
Swimming pool, sauna and gym also available.
The Duxton is situated 5 to 10mins walk from Elizabeth Quay train station, ferry and Perth City, and lovely walks along the Swan River and South Perth closeby.
Excellent accommodation facilities in a very good location.

I stayed here on my own for a couple of nights before onward travel. Hotel staff were friendly and also helpful when asking for tips on what to do in the area. The facilities were clean and well presented and the rain shower head was bliss when the temperature got close to 40°, room was also very quiet with no street noise to be heard. The pool was nice and quiet and in the late afternoon heat it was shady which was perfect to avoid the extreme of the sun. I would certainly book here again if I need an inner city Perth stay.

My husband and I went here for our birthday treat and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were so helpful and lovely. We had a club king room and it was huge. The access to the club room was a nice touch and from 5-7pm we sat and drank which made up for the extra we paid. The Firewater Restaurant was excellent too. Breakfast was basic but had enough for us to eat and everything was fresh. Would definitely recommend it and would go back.

Firstly the staff in reception where friendly and polite.
The room was large and clean with a nice view of Swan however the bath which was advertised as large was in face a tiny bath which was disappointing as we where looking forward to using it after a day walking around Perth.
The Club Room “experience “ was a total let down the drinks where Wine ,beer or selected spirts.
I had advised the hotel well in advance that I was Gluten Free and was advised by the restaurant manager that I would be served Gluten Free Canapés.
When I arrived in the Club Room I was told my canapés where been brought up from chef.
My husband went to get some Canapés and arrived with a plate containing sliced deli items? I asked where the canapés where he said that’s it ( see pictures)
Clearly the chef had no idea what Canapés are! See picture showing discription.
My Canapés arrived in a bowl and was I was advised these are all Gluten Free Canapés, the bowl contained party pies and other items that looked where dry and burnt. ( see picture)
I asked for the manager to be brought up when he arrived I asked him what he thought of the Canapés he didn’t answer, I asked him if he would eat them? again he wouldn’t answer. He did however say we all ways serve them to Gluten Free guests and have never had a complaint.
I advised him I was complaining and expected Canapés that where edible. He then asked “ well tell me what you want and I will get it” I advised him Gluten Free Canapés and your chef should know what is Gluten Free and suitable. He then asked me to be more specific about what I expected again I said the chef should know what was suitable.
At this point he told me he was “to busy to deal with me” .
He walked away saying he would sort something out.
We where totally disgusted with his approach we where paying guests who expected to get service and enjoy the experience.
A while later I was brought a plate containing Gluten Free bread two small bowls of salmon and two of scollops with a few olives. ( See picture) not Canapés but edible at least.
About 20 minutes later the same “ to busy manager “ came back into the Club Room and joined some guests in conversation, !!! It seemed he wasn’t so busy after all!
The following morning we arrived at 8.45 for breakfast my husband asked if it was possible to have two poached eggs, 30 minutes later he received the eggs.
When we went to check out the same manager was in the lobby. We spoke to the receptionist and advised of our experience the previous night and also at breakfast, and asked if a discount was going to given to compensate for this? The manager was called over and advised no this was not going to done he again advised he was far to busy to deal with it and also the long wait for eggs was because he was very busy! next he said “we should just pay the bill and leave the hotel“.
Never have we treated in this manner by someone who is calling himself the Manager. This experience cost us $325.00 it was a birthday treat for my husband and myself we an experience I never want to repeat .

Unfortunately we arrived in Perth on the evening that COVID Lockdown was introduced. No advice on check in that services would be limited to the extent they were. Four nights/five days - almost no consideration for wellbeing of hotel guests. the people on reception were more interested in taking our $$ than ensuring our comfort and well being. Had to repeatedly ask for clean towels, toilet paper and other necessities during our stay and were confronted by an exceptionally argumentative woman upon checkout. Thankfully her male workmate pulled her up. Duxton - we paid full price but did not enjoy our stay at all.

For a 5 star hotel I expected a lot more, the ambiance of the hotel is certainly 5 star however the little things stood out, the hotel is starting to look a bit tired in places, no automatic front doors, swipe access cards were hit and miss especially in the lifts.
Tbe biggest dissapoontment was the rooms, we had a delux king, for a luxury hotel as its advertised as one would expect a bit of luxury but no, we were greeted by a very basic room, nothing was automated, attention to detail was lacking but the bed was comfortable.
The bathroom had the usual facilities, bath vanity and shower however the shower head holes were mostly blocked by calcium and the pressure was very poor, the hand held shower mixer tap was broken so couldnt be switched from main shower to hand held.
Once again the little things were noticed, no soft close toilet seat, hand basin tap was to close to the edge of the basin so the simple task of washing hands ended with water all over the vanity top.
Soap dispencers were fixed to the wall in the shower and over the vanity but nothing for the bath so if a bath was needed you would have to pump soap into a cup from the vanity to have a bath.
To be honest for the price of $205 for the night I have stayed in $80 a night motels with equally as good rooms.
The upside was the restaurant in the loby, the Firewater Grille was definitely 5 star from service to food, the staff were awesome and the food when it arrived was worth the $170 price tag (that was just 2 mains and 2 glasses of wine) the steak was cooked to perfection, mine medium with the expected pink strip in the middle and my wifes medium well done with less pink in the middle, mash potatoes with truffle butter was delicious.
The decor, service and food I would recommend to anyone.

I booked a room for myself and my young daughters as a treat during school holidays. Shopping & a sleepover!
Our idea was for a nice swim, bit of luxury and some room service.
The hotel is very outdated. Some levels are being refurbed, however the refurbished rooms are a big let down. They have gone in a modern look that just cheapens the Duxton brand. The updates have been done very cheaply - the rooms compare to Mercure standard.
When booking a 5 star hotel you expect 5 star service and 5 star luxuries. Such as mini bar, room service, robe, slippers, toiletries perhaps even a turn down service.
I phoned up at one point to ask where the ice dispenser was located. I was informed that they didn't have them and that I would need to request it from room service and that it would be a $5 charge.
In fact anything that involves room service will cost you a $5 charge! Which is absolutely crazy considering the room service prices are very high to begin with.
We ended up ordering uber eats!!
Then that takes us to the pool area. The pool is down a lift and then up a flight of stairs. The size of the pool is ridiculous and it is not heated. The pool area is tiny and has approx 6 sun lounges. It is a massive let down and not an area you would think to see at a 5 star hotel.
I will admit the staff here are lovely and to be honest they are the only positive for the hotel.
I understand that the hotel is 25 years old, I also know that back in its day - this hotel was something amazing. The amount of celebrities this hotel has hosted is huge. (If only these walls could talk) however it had been let go and it is so sad that no upgrades have been done in 25 years. (Other than that ones they are attempting now). The hotel is missing so many opportunities to capture revenue with its poor offering of in house dining.
Kids meals being $25 plus a $5 tray service fee is absolutely laughable.
$16 for a piece of cake plus $5 tray service fee. I normally spend $100 - $200 on breakfasts, dinners, late night desserts. But I spent zero as the pricing was actually completely unreasonable. Looking at the other reviews its a common let down of the hotel. The food and beverage manager needs to really understand how much money he is losing for the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the Duxton and was pleasantly surprised to have a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival as it was my husbands birthday. Valet parking excellent service, reception staff very friendly and king deluxe room was comfortable and reasonably clean hence the 4 out of 5 star rating. I had one towel which looked like there was mascara on it and the windows were filthy. Also for a 5 star hotel and newly renovated rooms I was somewhat surprised to have such cheap bathroom fittings, flimsy plastic toilet seat which wasn’t soft close, the tap over the sink was so small that it just reached over but when you washed your hands the water went everywhere! A huge plus were the free recently released movies, I detest hotels charging for movies. The breakfast was fantastic, a huge selection, service was a bit slow with the tea and coffee, sometimes waiting up to 15 mins for a refill and it wasn’t that busy. All in all, it’s a well located hotel, well presented but I don’t think it’s a 5*hotel, maybe 4*.

On arrival we were greeted by the friendly and welcoming valet. We were walked inside to check in. All staff we encountered with polite, friendly and very welcoming. Everything was clearly explained to us. We were even walked to the elevator. Our river view club room was on level C1. The room was huge. There was a pillow menu with 4 selections. A complementary soft drink mini bar, with bottled water, coffee maker, and tea and coffee. The river views were amazing with 3 floor to ceiling windows. The bathroom was well set up with a large bath and shower and all the required toiletries. We were surprised to receive a bottle of bubbly and a personalised welcome note to our door. The club lounge is on level c2 and has a coffee machine. We went for the 6.15 canapes session. The session includes breads, cheese, crackers, salad and samosas with complimentary alcoholic drinks. We also were given a selection of hot meats direct to our table. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast the next morning was incredible with a large selection of hot and cold food including an egg station, pancakes, bacon, sausages, noodles, hash browns, fruits, yogurts, breads, pastries and muesli. Barista made coffee was $6 or free tea and instant coffee is available. All service was impeccable. The hotel was at full capacity but no stress was shown. We would definitely return. We had such a lovely stay.

Another revisit to this hotel which is well appointed, has a convenient location and generous room space.
The Duxton gives a feel of spaciousness from the time of entry to the foyer.
Our room on the 5th floor was clean, with all amenities, although they don’t stock the mini bar, which is a little inconvenient. The king size bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect.
Storage space was more than adequate for our two night stay.
The en-suite is relatively large but the water pressure in the shower was poor and the arrival of hot water for an early departure is quite a wait, which was surprising for the 5th floor. The bath towel sheets were a good size.
We enjoyed two dinners and a breakfast at Firewater Grille, which is reviewed separately.
We found all staff to be helpful and courteous, with little treats of the door being opened for you upon arrival and departure.
The stay was very pleasant and we have already booked a return two night stay. Recommended.
The Duxton gives a feel of spaciousness from the time of entry to the foyer.
Our room on the 5th floor was clean, with all amenities, although they don’t stock the mini bar, which is a little inconvenient. The king size bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect.
