More 3 star hotel, rooms are very tired especially the bathrooms. No hand towel holders, old chipped tiles and cheap laminate floors. The handle on tap sink also fell off. There was lukewarm water in shower at 9pm at night (we stayed 2/8/24).

You can hear everyone walking and talking down the hallway at night. Doors are paper thin.

They need to upgrade to USB connections in rooms (yes, every 4 star hotel I have been to has this). Also get rid of the iphone clocks in rooms - it is for old models (think iphone 1) which is no longer in use by apple so useless for charging in rooms.

Good - service from staff, comfortable beds, great location in city and free parking on street after 6pm.

It’s a budget hotel and next time would just spend an extra $50 on another hotel chain that is more in line with 4 star.

I was also offered online checkin prior to arrival, filled out details as Accor member and was told I just collect my card on arrival. I arrived at desk and the Front Office Manager made me fill out my registration all over again? Wasted 5 minutes with the process including fill out registration form and preauth - what is the point of offering online checkin?

What we liked
· It is a large hotel, quite modern in the common areas and rooms (not in the bathrooms though); spacious rooms with comfortable beds. In the bathroom there is a hairdryer and shower products. From the point of view of the location it is a ten minute walk maximum from the pedestrian area in the center of Perth and then from there all the convenience of public transport such as bus (the CAT line is free) or train to reach the city's surroundings such as Fremantle for example; or at the same time you can easily reach the area of the boat brands (Elizabeth Quay / Barrack Jetty). The surroundings of the hotel are lively and full of bars and restaurants, small markets and more. We would definitely recommend these accommodations to visit PERTH without having the car with you.

What did not like
 · The bathroom would have to be redone by putting new sanitary ware and new shower, perhaps with glass instead of with the curtain.
During the 3/4 days we stayed there only one elevator out of two worked and on the morning of our departure it was almost impossible to grab a descent with it for the too up is down (there are several floors).
Unfortunately then we were a little disappointed by the hotel staff; our suitcases were lost and arrived three days later, imagine the discomfort we found ourselves in having two girls with us. We had to ask a couple of times at least to call the phone number of the airport to ask at what point was the delivery and we asked every morning and every evening to notify us if they came to deliver them to the hotel so as to organize ourselves even with the purchase or not of basic necessities but both times (we were delivered a suitcase out of 4 after two days and the other 3 on the third day) they did not tell us anything. In short, I believe that Customer Care also passes from small attentions such as making a phone call in place of your foreign customer who perhaps does not speak the language well and warn of the arrival of what awaits with great anxiety.

This is an older hotel, room fittings/furnishings show this. However it is clean well serviced and room was larger than what I have stayed in at more expensive hotels.
Breakfast is tasty with good selection of foods available.
Onsite bar and cafe provide convenience and options. The location unfortunately is not right in the middle of the CBD and little surrounding it. But it is only a short walk to Hay St and Murray St malls where wide range shopping is found. In addition parks etc are also a short walk.

Well below average.
Poorly maintained building, 1970 style bathtub that was rusting, smelly and poorly cleaned room.
Bed promotes togetherness (because it sags in the middle so you’re always rolling together).
Nothing in the bar fridge, not even bottled water (though a small sign encourages you to enjoy Perths fresh tap water!)
Breakfast in the morning is also sub par - coffee machine with powdered milk, scrambled eggs made from powder, very limited selection of fruit and cereal.
Backpacker standards but hotel prices.

Arrived at the hotel and was met with two staff members one either in training or something as they were doing a lot of discussion about what room I was in with no explanation to me and the senior of the two couldn't leave fast enough to walk back to his side of the counter and pick up and scroll his phone
Hotel is perfunctory but old feeling or potentially that's just where i was put on level 1
Room was largeish but weirdly setup 1 lamp no charging or power next to the bed without rearranging the furniture but smelled quite musky
External door out to what i assume was a balcony or terrace area was closed and locked with an A4 sheet of paper saying closed for maintenance
Bathroom was perfunctory and fine but far from what i expect from an accor property especially at the price point we paid to stay there also had a dripping tap which I inevitably turned off
Ate at the inhouse café/Restaurant (Cucina) and food was good staff were great would highly recommend
On checkout wasn't asked about my stay or how anything was couldn't get rid of me fast enough
If i need to go back to the city again for business and even as an Accor member and Accor snob I wouldn't stay in this hotel again at half the price

I wish I had booked somewhere else, the negative reviews are a true reflection of this hotel. Please if you are considering this hotel don’t there are far better hotels in Perth. The photos used to promote this hotel do not reflect how tired this hotel is. We had a privilege room, the bathroom was so outdated, the carpet was rippled up the desk/dresser had a hole in it, bed uncomfortable. Outside of hotel was not well kept also dirty, the area at night did not feel safe. As you walk in hotel all you smelt was cooking/kitchen and not in a good way, you also smelt cooking when you got in the lift even at floor level 10. Never experienced cooking smell in a hotel lobby before. We were booked for 8 nights, never used the pool, when we wanted to use it was closed due to unforeseen circumstances! We asked when it would be available, initially told a few hours, so we went out sight seeing. Returned to hotel, still not available, expected to reopen shortly, waiting for chemicals and were told our healthy and safety came first. Pool was closed all day.. we booked this hotel as it was close to city in the height of summer and had a pool. In our 8 days we did not use it once, we actually booked into another hotel so we could use the pool safely. And if we were not sight seeing we went to the beach to cool down. We won’t return to this hotel but will be returning to Perth, it is a beautiful city.

Yikes

Stayed here 3 nights on business

A disappointing start when front desk only had me booked for 2 nights, wouldn’t extend my stay for extra night “unless authorised by your booking company”…but also tried to charge me when the room was already prepaid by the same “booking company”

Only one lift working out of two

Room service took over 90 minutes on two nights (of 3) as “took wrong room number”

Got charged full fee in bar one night despite being in “half price happy hour”. They’d charged half price the previous night and was in the advertised Wed-Sat happy hour 4-6pm slot.

Had a late checkout and breakfast on third morning and couldn’t believe the state of the breakfast bar at 830-9am slot. Over half of tables left uncleared, no fresh setting for incoming diners, three staff standing around doing not much

I get feeling staff need more training in bar, breakfast buffet and front desk

It was a 3 star experience and I would not recommend

At the outset, I would like to mention that we just needed accommodation overnight while we attended a family function that was held nearby, in this regard the Mercure served our basic needs. Importantly, the bedding and the room itself was clean but that's about it.
The Mercure is rated as a 4 Star establishment, I think this is highly over rated and a 2 Star or at best 3 Star would be more accurate.
Booking the room was easy, the hotel advertises a valet car parking service, yet, despite the fact that I put in the request for parking to be reserved for me, well in advance of our arrival, they could not guarantee that there would be a space for my car. I only found out that they could assist me with the valet parking when I was checking in. I really can't understand why they could not have confirmed the service for me as I am positive that the car was parked in a nearby public parking garage and not on site. We are an elderly couple and it would not have been a pleasant experience for us to have to carry our bags etc. from a parking garage some distance away, especially as it was raining on the day we arrived.
I checked in on line but still had to call at the reception desk for the key- card and enquire about the parking, the receptionist was reasonably efficient but not very friendly. The key-cards also activated the lift but this was not told to us and it was quite frustrating while we tried to work out how the lift was operated.
The room itself was a disappointment and in no way resembled the photo on their website, apart from the TV the room was bare, no instruction pamphlet, or promotional material etc. and as we found out the next morning, no kettle so a morning cup of coffee was out of the question. In the promotional photo there is a kettle, a bowl of fruit and some coffee mugs in a service space, in reality our space was empty. I suppose I could have asked reception to send us a kettle but at this stage we just wanted to check out...
There was an almost empty mini bar fridge which only had a few small capsules of milk in it, nothing else. The safe was a standard hotel combination type but if you were under six feet it would have been impossible for anyone shorter to use it without standing on a chair as it is situated on the top shelf of the hanging cupboard. I am 6 foot one and I could not reach the back of the safe.
The bathroom is very dated and looked shabby, the floor is covered in a dark wood patterned vinyl sheet and the lights kept on flickering on and off, most irritating. The shower nozzle is set quite low so tallish people would have to duck down if they wanted to wash their hair.
We normally stay at the Westin when in Perth CBD but I was swayed by the Mercure's close proximity to our function venue and the bright well presented rooms in the promotional photos, in our experience, our room in no way resembled the one in the photo which was a disappointment. In retrospect, maybe we should have stuck with the Westin.
We did not use the dining facilities so cannot comment on the food. As mentioned, we just needed overnight accommodation but anyone wanting a mid week or weekend "Stay- cation" will be very disappointed if they choose the Mercure.

Dear John & Liz Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Sincerely,

Booked 2 rooms for my family at Mercure Perth. Upon check-in, Assistant Manager told me that I was given a complimentary room upgrade but turns out, it's the same room that I booked. Would be good if the assistant manager could be more truthful about it.

The bed and pillow is not very comfortable and doesn't have much support. The toilet needs to be renovated especially the shower head which sprays water everywhere. Air con is centrally controlled and sometimes too hot or too cold. Carpet needs a refresh as well.

Location is good for walking to CDB. Only good for a couple of days stay if you want an affordable stay in Perth. Will be back this Saturday, hope to have better experience for my 2nd stay.

We needed 3 things, somewhere with a car park, room service and clean for 1 night. I chose this place for those reasons.

When I arrived I was informed there were no parks available even though I requested them in my booking. The advertisement needs to reflect this as it looks as though parking is available. They eventually found me a park as I had requested it because I have a disabled permit. My partner found a carpark a block over.

When I got to the room I was surprised with how dated the place was, but for the price it was okay. There was no hotel information in the room and the tv didn't have signal so no hotel orientation or info at all. I tried to use the phone for over 20mins to call reception and operator etc and it rang out each time. I eventually got a paper menu delivered and the man couldn't fix the tv so no hotel information, just the map on the door.

I was in a rush to get ready for an event and tried to order room service but the phone again wasn't answered and kept ringing out for over 20mins. I eventually got through by calling from my mobile and when the food came part of the order was missinv which was another round of unanswerd calls to the kitchen.

The towels were stained and I even discovered someone's sock next to the floor lamp. The air conditioner was set at 16 degrees but it was so hot innthe room and I couldn't adjust it but wasn't attempting to contact reception again.
The bed was comfortable and I am fussy about mattresses and the shower was nice but the bathroom was tiny, you had to manoeuvre around the door.

I paid extra for breakfast the next morning and when I arrived at the restaurant it was very noisy and had the usual buffet fare. Unfortunately I couldn't eat any of it, it was soggy bacon and cold pikelets. The coffee was revolting and I asked if I could order a la carte and get something fresh and a decent coffee and was informed that they had a separate restaurant for that, which is what I thought I was paying extra for. I couldn't wait to leave and get breakfast.

I asked for my car and was told the valet was a bit busy but to wait in the foyer. After 30mins a man came and told me my car had been waiting for a while, but for some reason he had neglected to bring me my key once he had parked it. I found it in a No Stopping zone up the street. Luckily no fine.

The place served it's purpose but was noisy with kids running up and down the corridors and screaming in their rooms. Next time I'll pay more and go somewhere nicer. Also, it turns out I paid for breakfast when it was already included.
