Nestled in the heart of the city, The Westin Perth earns high marks for its prime location, with guests frequently mentioning the easy access to restaurants, shops, and waterfront vistas. The rooms receive acclaim for their spaciousness and modern comforts, although a few guests have pointed out occasional service lapses. While the hotel's ambiance is celebrated for its modern elegance, opinions on the executive lounge and value for money are mixed, with some dissatisfaction noted. Despite some housekeeping inconsistencies, the hotel's cleanliness and amenities, including the praised breakfast, contribute to a generally well-regarded guest experience.

We had a 4 night stay in a Deluxe Room on 20th floor. The Hotel is modern, airy, spacious and has a great location close to everything in the CBD. Rooms are superb, large, with plenty of storage space, comfortable bed, and floor to ceiling windows with superb City views. All 5 star.
The Pool, Spa and gym are excellent.
We didn’t use the bar or restaurants but they look great, if expensive.
So all great, but there are some negatives which detract from a 5 star rating, and judging by other reviews, other guests have also experienced :
On arrival at midnight the doors were locked, and the automated opening system from reception didn’t open the door no matter how many times she told us it did. No one came to actually open the door ( we could see the reception and other staff inside) and we had to wait outside until a guest came back who could open the door with his room card. Not a great welcome after a 9 hour journey.
The pillow selection in room is very poor.
The provision of shower gel is very limited and insufficient for two people. Also coffee pods.
The Pool area has no staff anywhere near, so guests are often seen trying to drag and open /close umbrellas and sun beds around the pool. There really should be someone available to do this, they are heavy and it could be dangerous..
Having requested and been granted a Midday check out when we checked in, we had a phone call at 11.30 asking why we hadn’t checked out yet.

So the Westin is almost there, it has the location and facilities, but the attitude and service isn’t quite up to scratch yet. Hence 4 star review

Staying at the The Westin Perth for our 14 day quarantine stay, we’re so lucky this is the hotel selected for us because everything has been fantastic.

The rooms are large, modern & clean, very comfortable, quiet, wonderful views of Perth city, great bathroom & shower, comfy bed, lovely linens, awesome wifi & a large selection of free movies.

Staff have been sensational, extremely attentive & always courteous, even though they are very busy they always made time for you & your enquires, any request handled immediately, wonderful staff all round.

Food has also been great, plentiful, delicious, lots of variety, plenty of fruit & water, lots of snacks, treats, definitely not going hungry, meals are always delivered promptly, we’ve had everything from filled ravioli with cheese sauce, home style Shepard’s pie, Indian cuisine, honey soy chicken stir fry with rice, pies, muffins, pastries, chicken parmigiana, juices, salads, wraps, so many different options & the kitchen staff are happy to work with any dietary needs you have (I’m allergic to seafood).

Would not hesitate for a second to recommend or stay again in the future.

First up, the hotel looks fanastic!! Very modern and spacious, greeted at the door and escorted to the reception area. Check-in was simple and got keys to room without much fuss.

Lifts are quick and overall hotel qas very clean.

Rooms were very spacious including the bathroom, cupboard space and bedroom area.

I particularly like the curtain and blinds being able to open and close with a simple click of a button.

Room was cleaned and amenities replaced daily.
Staff were always helpful when required.

The only concern I have is the location, there are alot of homeless people who ask for money or sitting on street curbs or even laying across the footpath, it definitely does not feel safe in the evenings. However, it's a great location as its very close to the CBD and plenty of food and shops within walking distance. Bare in mind that coles and woolies close 5pm on weekends and 9pm weekdays. There is an IGA nearby that stays open until 10pm daily. As these are external issues outside of the hotels control i have not disadvantaged them with less stars, but it is important for travellers to know.

Will definitely recommend staying here next time im up in Perth.

This is my second stay at The Westin Perth, this time for 2 nights about a year after our first stay.

Check in was smooth and easy. Initial acknowledgement of Bonvoy Gold and whether I would like to use late check out (we didn't on this occasion).
I had previously been in email contact with the hotel about a reservation for the restaurant, I had noted that we were celebrating our engagement.
Not that we expect much, but this went completely unacknowledged in email and at the hotel; not even a note in the room. I think these are the areas where this scale of hotel could easily provide a slightly more special experience to its guests.
This hotel feels more like a spacious and comfortable business hotel. Not really a 'special occasions' hotel. They will lose this business to a few other more premium hotels.
Water pressure remains below average (you can't just have a quick shower in the morning) and lack of a bath in most rooms takes away from any luxurious down time opportunities.
Bonvoy Gold status nor a special occasion will grant you much of a room improvement. Generally the majority of rooms are the same layout. We were on the 15th floor (25+ floors in total) with a reasonable outlook.

Last time I stayed, when dining multiple times at Garum, I was told at check out that any Bonvoy dining discounts needed to be applied by the restaurant and I had to push for the advertised discount at checkout.
This trip, we invited 3 external guests to join us for breakfast at Garum.
I added their breakfasts to my room, but requested the Bonvoy discount be added to that bill before I finalised it. They told me this was done at check out. So I just left it.

At check out I was told firstly that the discount needs to be applied by the restaurant. Then I was told that the discount was not applicable on weekends.
There were digital adverts near the lifts showing the Bonvoy discounts (15% for Gold), though-out our stay (including the weekend). I couldn't see any terms stating it wasn't applicable for the weekend. I didn't push further and was not given the discount.
At this point it isn't really about the small discount, it's about the fact that there is obviously a communication issue amongst staff that nobody is interested in correcting, which left us with a bit of a negative experience on departure - for the second time.

For the second time again at this hotel, we have had to lodge a 'missing points' request with Marriott Bonvoy as these weren't credited more than 2 weeks after our stay (these points usually seem to appear within a few days after most stays).

We will probably only return to the hotel when we need to be in Perth for a quick stay, where the hotel experience is not a focal point of the trip. Rates are generally quite reasonable.

Hi Austmat, Thank you for choosing to stay at The Westin Perth and for sharing your experience. Please accept my apologies we did not meet your expectations on a special occasion. We certainly do note these and disappointing this was not executed on this stay. The Marriott Bonvoy discount is not applicable for breakfast, however we will refresh these benefits with our team to ensure there is a consistency with how this is communicated. I do hope to welcome you back to The Westin Perth in the future. Kind regards,

Five stars for staff/service levels. Five stars for stylishness of rooms. Probably 3 stars for functionality of shower, lack of optional light switches, and only one rubbish bin.

Rooms are spacious however, the shower drain is at the door of the shower and is flush with the rest of the bathroom floor. This caused the floor outside the shower to flood and that then rushed over to the toilet room.

One master light switch when you come in and I believe beside the bed but no option to turn on/off lights specific to bathroom.

And only one rubbish bin for the size of the room seems a little silly.

Pool hours, 0600-1800

We've been lucky enough to be staying at The Westin for our 14 days quarantine. The rooms are big, bright, modern and spacious and the beds are really comfortable. Our two children are in another interconnected room but unfortunately this room keeps getting a strong cigarette smell intermittently throughout our stay. We've complained several times to management but the issue remains unresolved.

Having said that the staff here are very good at responding to requests and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We've asked for a coffee machine and metal cutlery to reduce the amount of plastic cutlery sent in the food bags.

We've also asked for our children's meals to be changed (requested in advance) and the kitchen staff are happy to accommodate requests and call me daily to check on meal preferences which is really appreciated.

Food is great, plentiful and varied. There's no shortage of fresh fruit and water (just a shame it's in plastic bottles). We have a room overlooking the lovely pool, just a shame we can't leave the room to use it?!

I'm in doubt that staying at the Westin has made quarantine with kids so much easier all round.

This room transported me, to spring on it's best day. how the airy colors and textures made this room come alive. We'll call this room, The Great Gatsby just for purpose sakes? bare with me? and Carrie Bradshaw has welcome us back."HELLO". If your still here i"ll give you the lowdown. this room was terrific, the bed was exceptional so comfortable. we payed $287.00 for a package deal which included buffet breakfast for two, welcome drink, valet parking. However i would pay double for my stay here as this hotel room oozes such richness within executing elegant grandeur.

We spent just one night in this elegant hotel, but wished it had been more. The downtown location provided an excellent base for walking around Western Australia’s Government House, the Old Courthouse and the lovely Supreme Court Gardens.

The hotel itself towers above the surrounding older and historic buildings, dwarfing them and looking somewhat out of place with no redeeming aesthetically pleasing architectural features. But we didn’t come here to look at its exterior. Inside, the bright, airy lobby and reception desk, run by extremely polite and helpful staff, opens up to a cosy lounge area where one can just sit or order something to eat or drink.

Our room on a high floor was large with a sense of spaciousness, partly due to the large picture window overlooking the city. Both hard and soft materials exuded style and quality, and the room was properly equipped with accessible electrical outlets and charging points.

The large bathroom was sleek, modern and highly functional with its large walk-in shower, abundant vanity top space, mirrors, hooks and towel rails.

The restaurant provides quite a surprise if entered through the hotel, because it is in fact housed in an adjoining historic building. It is an Italian restaurant named Garum, run by the hotel in partnership with an external operator. Its appearance and ambiance are a far cry from the usual corporate blandness of hotel chain restaurants. Indeed, it seemed to be the place to be, with the locals out for a fun night outnumbering the hotel guests on this occasion.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the Westin and it would be our first choice if we ever return to Perth again. It checked all the boxes for staff quality, bedroom and bathroom size, style and amenities, welcoming public spaces and restaurant.

Spent 4N in this hotel. Did not managed to snag a suite as a Plat, but was given a high floor (21st) instead looking out towards the stadium and the hills beyond, and with partial views of the Swan River. The room was large and could easily swallow a rollaway bed. The king bed was a tad soft. Strong *free* wifi throughout the property. High level of cleanliness. We ate breakfast and enjoyed evening cocktails at the Club Lounge on the 3rd floor. Low crowds during breakfast time, with the spread remaining unchanged for all days (a few hot dishes, bread, cereal, salad and cold cuts). Human traffic was very high during evening cocktail hour, which comprised 2 hot dishes, cold cuts, salad, wine, beer and sangria. Access the lounge was by card key. In my numerous visits to the lounge, I was asked for my room number only once. Most of the staff we met were very polite. The hotel is located next to the Perth Hospital and diagonally from the criminal courts. Saw a few poor/homeless people sleeping on the pavement. Parking very expensive onsite. There is a 24 hour large open-air car park next to the hotel offering lower rates. Street Parking after 6pm is free.

Lovely hotel let down by some poor customer service.

This hotel is beautifully designed and our suite was very well lit and with lots of windows and gorgeous.

The only problem with it was that every time the door opened the blinds and curtains would do the exact opposite of what you wanted!

So if they were already down to protect you from the sun they would all go up and all the lights would come on!! Even in the middle of the day!

If they were all up, the curtains and blinds would then all come down and all the lights would go on even if it was the middle of the day and you were enjoying the light!

Very bizarre waster of energy.

At the same time our room only got cleaned 2 out of 3 nights and there seemed to be an aversion to giving us more than one towel each even though we take more than one shower a day! Some on one hand they’re trying to save energy and on the other hand their automated system is doing the exact opposite!

The breakfast restaurant was also very limited. No Asian food at all, only basics of eggs and bacon/sausages and pastries, no imagination.

However it was the customer service that needs to be improved both in the lounge and at reception:

I only went to the lounge twice but despite needing to use my key card to gain access I was asked my room number THREE times by the staff there! This of course had nothing to do with the fact that I have a mohawk, tattoos and wear Slipknot cut off t-shirts!

I asked my wife if she ever got asked. Nope. Not once!

I asked a couple of other people if they got asked. Nope. Just me.

Why do you discriminate against those of us who like to express our personal branding in different ways to the ones that they perceive can afford to have club lounge access?

It would surely have then surprised these people to find out that I am an Ambassador Elite, the top tier of Marriott Bonvoy rewards!

The other weird thing about the lounge is they only have ONE hot meal each evening and they alternate between meat and vegetarian! So the days that they have one I guess half their guests starve!

As Ambassador I know I am entitled to check out late. So imagine my surprise when I rang reception and asked for a late check out and was told that I could only have one to midday!

I said are you sure? I am Ambassador Elite, that’s your top tier.

The lady on reception said yes you have to check out by midday but you can BUY late check out for $50 to 2pm, $100 to 4pm and $150 by 6pm…..

I did some research and this was not correct.

So I then went downstairs and spoke to a lovely lady, not the same one, who apologised and said of course you’re entitled to 4pm check out automatically by being Ambassador and whoever told you anything else was wrong!

I said can I have it to 6pm given that under your 24 hour Ambassador benefit if I check in at 6pm I can check out at 6pm and she said yes no problem.

I said why didn’t the previous woman whom I talked to agree to this even after I had told her I was Ambassador and she had checked out my profile several times?

She said she didn’t know but that I was totally right and she could see that the moment she looked at my booking!

Sounds like the Westin needs to train their staff better to listen to customers and not assume that everyone is the same when the whole point of a loyalty program is that we’re not!

Overall though we very much enjoyed our time here, they just need to improve on their customer service.

When I arrived in Perth on an early morning flight, I took an airport taxi to Westin Perth which cost about aud 45. You can check at the airport for public transportation. Guess it’s not much help.
