We have stayed at a number of Ibis hotels and this was one of our favourites.

The rooms are very modern, clean and reasonably sized. The shower was always hot and had good water pressure too. We also had a large screen TV and an iPad which enabled us to communicate with the hotel staff and co-ordinate cleaning times which was really useful especially with jet lag! The rooms come equipped with a fridge, safe, kettle, and a decent selection of toiletries.

The location is central and it is in the free tram zone which made it cheap and easy to get around the city. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and a supermarket in walking distance of the hotel.

All of the staff were really kind and friendly, and they were happy to help with anything which was lovely. The concierge Andy was really nice and made us feel very welcome.

Just to note, the reception is in an odd place on the second floor; we did not realise at first and hung around the concierge desk until someone notified us that it was on the second floor!

Overall, this is a really great hotel and the price is very reasonable; great value for money, I would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed here for a few days at the end of our holiday after just getting married in Gippsland and had an amazing experience. The check-in was super efficient and friendly by the manager I think. I had asked for a quiet room on an upper floor which I got with an upgrade. Also we were presented with a voucher giving us several glasses of sparkling wine to use in the bar which was a very nice gesture. On arrival to the room there was complimentary chocolate almonds and a fruit plate as an added gift so it looks like they really went out their way to make our Honeymoon special. The room was great very new and very clean and had everything amenity you would expect and was very well presented. The buffet breakfast was amazing with so much choice and one of the best we have had and the staff were very professional and kept a very busy restaurant clean and the buffet stocked up. We spent both evenings in the bar before going out and coming back from dinner and found it super friendly and the drinks were great and there was a bar snack menu to compliment the drinks. We found the whole hotel, it's staff and location amazing and it made for a very happy end to our trip before we flew back to our home in Bali. Once again thanks for your hospitality and we would love to go back sometime. Greetings from us both, Ian & Wan.

This hotel has a great location, excellent staff, comfortable and firm-enough beds and is basically quiet. I didn’t give it five stars for two reasons. There was a building under construction near the hotel but I honestly could not hear anything.

1. The door is “loose.” So it doesn’t line up perfectly with the wall, letting in noise. As the doors of other rooms close quite heavily and with a bit of a bang, the door would rattle quite a bit when other doors on the floor opened and shut. I solved the issue by placing one of the night tables against the door at night.

2. The bathroom is open plan as other reviewers have noted. This in and of itself isn’t the issue, the issue is that there is not separate light for the toilet. You have to turn on the room lights if you want to use the toilet at night. It wasn’t an issue this trip as I was alone, but I can see how this might be an issue when traveling with family or friends. It’s too bad, as there is a discreet bed light that provides just enough light at night to make it to the bathroom but not enough to wake anyone up.

A contemporary well presented hotel in the heart of the city. It is well located for different modes of public transport for ease of travel around the city, and has a great range of restaurants around. The staff are welcoming and made my stay very enjoyable. Rooms are warm and fitted out suitably, and I personally enjoy the chromecast feature of the TVs so i can watch my netflix or youtube while I'm getting ready for bed. I've stayed here a number of times and intend on coming back in the future. Great hotel with a decent price point for rooms.

This hotel is definitely a hidden gem! My family of 3 stayed here for 3 nights during our stay in Melbourne. I was initially debating on staying at the adjacent Novotel but I'm so glad I chose Ibis. This hotel definitely exceeds a 3-star standard! Hotel is located right in the center of everything. Nearest Skybus shuttle stop is just 2 blocks away. Very conveniently located.

Upon check-in, we were greeted by Tahlia, an extremely friendly and helpful agent. We mentioned to her that it was our first time in Melbourne. Right away, she started to introduce tourist spots and restaurants to us. She even went over and above in providing us a printout with her recommendations of places to visit and diners. Really impressed with her professionalism and courtesy. Tahlia definitely deserves a promotion!

We booked a Superior room with 2 double beds and got an end room with a huge foyer space for our luggages. Room was very clean. Our arrival was a 43C extreme hot day. By night time, our room temperature went up to 25C. We called the reception and learned there was an issue with the main generator which caused problems to the entire building's aircon. After following up for few times, we realized our room was one of the rooms that still had aircon issues. Daniel, the Assistant Manager, personally came up to our room to apologize for the inconvenience and within 20 mins, he offered to move us to 2 separate queen rooms. He also offered complimentary breakfast and we received fruit platters in our rooms the next day. Despite the slight hiccup (things do happen.....), we really appreciate the courtesy and quick resolution from Daniel :) Overall, we had a very pleasant stay!

Highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Melbourne!

We are on a 5 week tour of Australia and our itinerary was planned by Trailfinders. They booked our hotels. They have made a mistake with this one.
It's described as a compact room. It would be compact for a single traveller but for two adults it is ridiculous. The "double bed" is no more than 4'6'' wide. One side has a small bedside table, the other is up against the curtains. It's impossible to get out of bed that side without drawing the curtains.
There us hardly any room to hand clothes. The available drawers are largely filled with a hairdryer and a safe. We were forced to live out of our two suitcases and they took up most of the remaining floor space.
The shower was powerful but ran hot and cold. The sink is part of the room and is the main feature of the room. It's not easy to shave at right angles to the mirror or from about 3 feet away.
They provide tea and coffee facilities but did not always replenish the milk. This resulted in a 16 floor descent in the lift to request more. In the end we gave up waiting and went out to eat. The milk did arrive but we found the fridge door open when we returned.
The room was cleaned well and was fairly quiet. It would be OK for a single guest for a couple of nights stay but for two grown adults it was the pits. Location wise great.

Ibis is centrally located with lots of eateries around the area. Rooms are small and compact but good enough for two people. I like the wash basin which is located outside the bathroom as I can do my facial washing and stuff outside while my travel companion is using the bathroom. The only disappointment is that there wasn’t any soup or hand wash located at the wash basin,. However, overall I had a good stay.

Staying by myself in a compact double bedroom that had everything including a very reasonable price. Towels were soft, the room was impeccably clean and even though the hotel is as central as anything, it was peaceful and quiet.

Staff were super helpful, check in and out was quick and smooth, and walking to the shops on Bourke St was less than 10min. Will definitely stay here next time I come to Melbourne.

I stayed for 3 nights with my daughter. The room was small but that was expected with the Ibis brand. But it was very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. Pillows good.
It was so nice to have mugs provided for tea / coffee and the fridge was different with the clear front. We turned it down colder for our drinks.
The air con worked well. The Tv was amazing! Good quality.
There were USB ports in the power points to charge phones which was handy and the the free wifi worked really well.
The reception and concierge staff were all friendly and helpful. We ate at the bar one night which was good value for in-house dining.
Over all we had a great stay and would stay again, esp since it is close to my company’s Melbourne office.
Thank you ibis.

Nice place, in between Southern Cross and Chinatown. Very close to Victoria Market.
It shares the building with Novotel.
Reception is at level 2.
In room was comfortable. Basic amenities were provided including ironing. Room was cleaned punctually every morning. Hot shower was great. However that was pretty much what i liked.

Aircon was adjustable, but... it has a system where it readjusts back. I was quite irritated. Adjusted the heater temperature, then it went back down to a cold temperature. Imagine the repeated adjustments in the middle of the night.
The shower door needed a rubber or silicone layer at the bottom. Water leaked through the space and flowed into the room.
TV channels were pretty boring. Nothing to cater to international travellers. No movie or variety channels.
What disappointed me more was the fact that, additional charge of $10 per day to use the gym. This was not told at check-in, but in email ans notification in one of the tv channels. Not sure how this was monitored. I had stayed in other Ibis/Novotel and using the in-house facilities were part of the stay package. For the room rate they charge, this does not make any sense.
