We recently spent a lovely night in one of the well appointed rooms Some lovely heritage aspects with modern hotel facilities A great room, quiet and comfortable with all the amenity of a 5 star hotel
Terrible, noisy. I got no sleep, complained. Friday and Saturday nights definitely not recommended. Saturday mornings there is noise from the set up of the market from about 4am. couldn't stay the second night and a refund was agreed on but they did not pay it. Stayed in 2018 but as I said - no refund forthcoming.
This historic building has been modernised to keep the warmth and beauty of its history visible. The beautiful sandstone walls are just so aesthetic and full of character. There is a small kitchenette (always a bonus) and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is super modern but the lighting is woeful for makeup or other things you need good lighting for. There is a quirky design twist where you can see the person in the shower from the bedroom. This would be really fine if you were a couple but we were a couple of friends so we had to promise we wouldn't look up!! Haha. There's no wifi in the room - so make sure you've got data on hand. This is just sort of a given now in a hotel so I was perplexed as to why it isn't included (especially given the price). Unfortunately the room isn't air conditioned and we had 40 degree heat on the days we were there. We had to open the windows and then you have such problems with ambient and other noise that it isn't pleasant. If you don't do stairs, there's no lift. But having said that, we were assisted with our baggage by the manager on the day. That was really nice. He was very accommodating as we needed a couple of things and he was helpful. The coffee machine is an added cool touch. NB: there is NO parking at the hotel. Also, the Car Parks nearby have a strange system whereby they're for locals only and monthly bookings. It was quite bizarre. I think it's just that there's a shortage of parking in the whole area. Salamanca isn't expensive to park in but you need to move your car outside of the metered areas if you don't want to keep paying for parking during the day. There is no parking cost overnight. But you must remove your car out of the market precinct on a Friday night to avoid being locked in. The bar downstairs is great - a good vibe on a Saturday night. Overall a nice place but they just need to get some things right for the money being charged.…
The location is wonderful, just above Salamanca Place and the markets on a Saturday. So many nice bars and restaurants around plus the ferry to Mona and waterfront area. The hotel is above a pub which is nice. This is an old warehouse with sandstone walls and was some years ago renovated. Some aspects are cool and funky like the shower but other aspects are poor like no air conditioning and we could only open the window a little bit. The noise all night - party goers, street sweepers and all the sounds echo right up into your room so it is noisy - needs soundproofing and air conditioning. The facilities in the room were good and the cleaners came each day. The bed was comfy and the staff nice. No lift so prepare for stairs. Unfortunately I would not stay here again due to the stuffiness in the room and the noise.…
