Hotel and staff and location great My only criticism is the pools as nice as they look are way to cold For all the money invested why didnt they just put some solar panels on the roof area and heat them a bit Lots of guests visited that area only to be bitterly dissapointed that the water is so cold and not at all enjoyable. Would have loved to have a swim every morning I went to the lagoon everyday water was beautiful The only other thing ditch the coffee maker and put in a microwave just for heating up some food . Loved cairns but wont be back to the flynn sorry Unless they do something with the pools
We stayed here for 3 nights on a Luxury escapes deal for a long weekend. We upgraded to the sea view room and received $150 dining credit and 2 complimentary cocktails of the day. The hotel is new and very stylish throughout. Our room had a king bed, exceptionally comfy. An in room iPad and light control touch pad by the bed were modern touches. The balcony looking out over cairns lagoon and the esplanade was spectacular both morning and night. The only downside in our room was the noisy fan of the aircon even when on low setting. We tried to turn off the fan which resulted in turning off the whole system and making the room hot. Also the full length mirror and circle mirror in the alcove had no direct Down lights over them making useless. The only mirror with a light for applying makeup was in the ensuite and having to lean over the basin. The pools were spectacular to look at and swim in. The upstairs undercover one was freezing. We also didn’t like anyone could walk up off the street ( esplanade) and access the pool areas without a security tag system in place. We encountered 3 young boys with backpacks run up and jump in the pools. When challenged by guests they ran off. We did not feel very confident leaving our phones and belongings in the cabanas and chairs by the pool. We ate breakfast one morning at Flynn’s restaurant at the hotel. There were only a dozen guests in there at 8 Am and they had run out of mini croissants. Several requests to ask for more by guests resulted in a 15 minute or so wait. We were not aware the bars were closed on Mondays which was part of our long weekend stay. We also didn’t like being charged 15% surcharge for a public holiday out of our room credit. This felt like a rip off. All in all a great central location to stay in Cairns and would most likely return in the future. …
Decor was fashionably nice, swimming pools and reception area were pleasant and well appointed. Room size was most adequate However breakfast service needs improvement. We stayed 6 nights with 6 breakfasts in the morning. The service was slow and it was only the last day they got the breakfast order completely correct. All other days egg orders were mixed up (eg scrambled instead of fried) sausages arrived with the full breakfast when these were asked to be excluded and coffee machine run out of water it took a long time for refills Minor matters for improvement but for a 5 star hotel it is not-acceptable
Beginning with a warm and obliging greeting at Reception to our beautifully appointed suite in the 7th floor overlooking to sea, we have enjoyed a great experience at the Flynn. Thanks to Chantel for going the extra mile to assist us on arrival in a tropical deluge, much appreciated. Despite roadworks occurring along the esplanade, rooms were completely soundproof, bedding exceptionally comfortable and spotless. Love the Crystalbrook philosophy of protecting our planet with their use of green or recycled products. Excellent buffet breakfast and allowing guests to use the facilities in other Crystalbrook hotels nearby was a bonus. Thanks Flynn fir a great stay.
Lovely clean, spacious modern hotel , excellent location, great sea views. My only complaint, from a women’s point of view, the lighting over the bathroom mirror needs to be a lot brighter eg: for applying makeup etc. It was very poor. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars unfortunately
