The hotel is good- central- good breakfast- internet- comfortable. Downside- no draws or storage space in room at all. There is hanging space but no shelves. So have to live out of suitcase or spread over furniture.
The staff here were exceptional, we had one issue being the air-conditioning in our room was not cooling effectively, we queried it with staff to see if there was anything we were doing wrong and the manager immediately changed our room, and very generously gave us a free buffet breakfast which was delicious. Rooms were very clean and refurbished. The Hotel is in a pretty good location too.
I chose the Voco hotel due to the affordable room rate with the inclusion of breakfast. I saw varied reviews so really wasn’t sure what to expect. The location was great. It’s in between Southbank and cbd so easy walking distance for all the key areas. There was construction and road closures while I was there, but this should be temporary. The room itself was nice, decent size l, comfortable beds, modern design and good sized bathroom. There were some issues I had with the cleanliness of the room, particular areas of the toilet that hadn’t been cleaned from past guests which I raised but never was attended too even with the daily clean of the room.. (unacceptable for a four star hotel) Reception staff were friendly and the vibe and ambience of the lobby was nice with free lemon water and a cool bar for a pre - dinner drink. The breakfast was ok. The selection of items was good and taste was nice. However service was slow, whether it be to have eggs cooked, a coffee made or plates cleared from the table (none of my plates were cleared once while dining there on any given day) I always love going for a swim if a pool is included and unfortunately this was one of the few times I didn’t use the pool. It was way too cold and needs some definite TLC to bring it back to life. I understand Voco has recently taken over this hotel, with time and improvements in service and refurbishment of older and tired areas, this hotel has potential. I just won’t be rushing back in the next few months..…
Great facility, close to everything(prime spot), clean, good views. However, some of the staff could put a smile on their face and doesn’t cost a lot to greet someone good morning or say how are you? The gym facility could also use some basic dumbbells and encourage people to wipe down after using the machines and other gym equipment.
Much better deals and accommodation in Brisbane. Terribly unorganised. Small room, and so badly set out and so was bathroom. It was the hardest bed in the world and so tiny. If your car taller than 1.8 do not bother. Staff seem to have pick of parks out the front. Breakfast is average buffet style. Not worth the price. For the price per night this was so underwhelming and disappointing. So many customers were complaining at front counter. Management did not handle it well. And I even questioned my account being overcharged and got a random response. So I understand people complaining at front counter now. Definitely NOT going back here. Save your money for much better stay in Brisbane.
One of IHG's new hotels in Brisbane, located on North Quay over looking the Brisbane River. This hotel has had a previous life but the rooms have had a makeover and look great. Spacious with comfortable seating and a great king size bed. Breakfast was included and the level 2 restaurant was clean and fresh with views to the river. All of your breakie favourites available. Staff are super friendly. On sites parking is available got $36 a day. A bargain in the city! The car is a little tight and has a height restriction, so best to call ahead if you are unsure. Easy walk to the Queen Street Mall. Well priced with Staff that want to make sure you enjoy your stay.
This used to be the Mecure City Centre. It's been rebranded as Voco and is part of IHG. The rooms are largely unchanged, but refreshed. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly. My only gripe as a top tier IHG rewards member is that I wasn't offered a complimentary drink on arrival, but rather a dry biscuit that reminded me of stays in the Flag Inn in the 1980s! Minor quibbles and for a good rate this is a good hotlel a good location. Just don't expect too many frills.
