Friendly, helpful staff who seem to care about their roles in making our stay enjoyable. Rooms are a little tight for space but completely adequate, and nice and clean. Tiled floors in the bedrooms add to the 'clean' feeling and are a great response to Darwin's heat and humidity. Original artworks in the rooms also add to the ambience. The location is not too far from town by Uber (approx $9) or it's a manageable stroll (about 15 mins). The Guest Laundry was a welcome bonus. Breakfast offered basic options that were fresh and covered most tastes. Overall, I'd recommend the Argus for clean, simple accommodation.

Here for two weeks, nothing has been a problem. I cannot fault this hotel. The staff have helped us in every way and made me feel welcome. Cleaning, breakfast and attention to detail is first class. More than a reasonable price has made my introduction to Darwin wonderful. I don’t need much, but their enthusiasm and attention to customer service is perfect. Close to town, yet far enough away from noise etc.... well done .

The Argus has lovely staff that greet you at reception and the facilities are small and basic. We had a 2 bedroom room but they were were tiny with no space for amenities in the bathroom. There was a kettle and what used to be a kitchen that would have been fantastic if it had a sink and a microwave. Plenty of room to do so but not there. All night you could hear the lift going up and down. The pool now has a cover and is dark and gloomy situated outside the window of the restaurant… so unless you want to be watched swimming whilst people at eating, not the best place to be. Only a $9 Uber ride to the harbour and there was usually a scooter to hire out the front. Your stay comes with complimentary continental Brekky and which was fresh toast, cereal, yogurt and muesli. Pot coffee was available with no option to upgrade to a proper coffee. Accomodation is suitable if you are after something not too expensive and pretty simple.

We flew in to Darwin at 1am, reaching the hotel about 1.30. Had an easy checkin process and comfortable sleep. Room was tidy, clean and relatively compact. Breakfast was in a room reminiscent of a cafe, somewhat utilitarian in style, and smaller than it appears in hotel photos. The breakfast menu, however, was varied and fresh. Staff in the hotel were pleasant and helpful. The hotel pool is quite literally a plunge pool of very small dimensions. The main advantage for us was proximity to the downtown area which wasn't far to walk.

We spent three nights here. It was comfortable although we found the “two bedroom” unit to be pretty tight for space (and that was just 2 of us). Reception staff were helpful and cheerful and housekeeping was excellent. Given the temperature and humidity I would book closer to the bars and restaurants next time - it’s not a really long way out but you can be pretty uncomfortable here within 5 minutes walking …

Smallish hotel. Newish and clean. Pool is just a plunge pool. Restaurant cramped and very average qualty. On eastern edge of Darwin cbd, so no view, no waterfront. But walkable distance. Mattress had collapsed on one side. Bathroom door didn't open properly. Bathroom very cramped. Can hear neighbours thru walls. Ok if you are just sleeping there, but not a place to relax. Must be better hotels around. Staff very helpful.

This was priced 4-star for a 2-star type of hotel. The rooms are like backpacker dorms - very basic and plastic-fantastic. The blinds provide no blockout and the rooms are not soundproof so you hear every other door opening and closing throughout the night. The breakfast is abysmal with toast and cereal and a couple of apples. Nothing else. If this was priced at half the price, it would be deemed acceptable, but not at $400 per night.

Dear Stephanie C, Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay wasn’t to your satisfaction. Star ratings are provided by the Tourism Accreditation; therefore, we are guided by them. Our rooms are certainly not in any way like backpacker dorms. Our light continental breakfast is a complimentary service provided to all our guests, consisting of fresh fruits, yoghurts, juices, teas, coffee, as well as cereal and bread. We apologies for this not catering to your needs at this time. During Darwins’ dry (peak) season, you will find that most accommodation providers will have higher rates, due to supply and demand, which is common in this industry. However, we believe that we are still very competitively priced compared to our counterparts. Best wishes for the future!

A comfortable hotel within walking distance of lots of things. We walked to the waterfront, botanic gardens, museum and Mindel beach. Woolworths supermarket not far away. The swimming pool is rather small for real swimming. Continental breakfast was good and plentiful. We could eat outside.

Twin share room quite small for two people. No real place to store belongings for 5 night stay. Room and pool nothing like the photos shown. The room was clean but not of a high standard. Our booking was messy. Four nights for a conference and then the fifth was booked but we were told we would have to move rooms for the last night. Fortunately that wasn’t the case but there was a lot of back and forth and unnecessary contact to sort out a five night stay. Breakfast consists of cereal and toast. We could hear our neighbours above and beside us throughout the night. Wouldn’t rush to stay there again

Dear 12345Als, Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay wasn’t to your satisfaction. Our advertising photos are less than a year old, and we feel they still reflect our current standard. We certainly do our best to keep our property maintained as best possible. Due to the constant changes in your booking, during peak season, it was difficult to guarantee at the time, the same room for your entire stay. But we are pleased to see that we were able to accommodate this in the end, and minimising any disruptions to your stay. Our light continental breakfast is a complimentary service provided to all our guests, consisting of fresh fruits, yoghurts, variety of juices, teas, as well as a variety of cereal and bread. We apologies for this not catering to your needs at this time. Best wishes for the future!

We enjoyed a five night stay at the Argus. I booked well in advance and got a very reasonable bed and breakfast tariff for the last week of June. Breakfast is continental and is plentiful and excellent and is serve yourself. Coffee is very good. We ate twice at the Green Chilli their inhouse restaurant which is casual Thai/Asian and we found the food excellent. The bar is licensed and well stocked. Front of hotel staff were very approachable and gave good advice on anything Darwin. We were lucky to be at Mindal Beach markets for the annual Territory Day fireworks and rock band show. also viewed lots of locals sending up their rockets skywards in front of our hotel. Spectacular! Excellent walking location to Darwin buses and city sights. I highly recommend this hotel.

Dear burnsbeach2018, Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We are thrilled that you enjoyed our complimentary breakfast service, as well as the inhouse restaurant run by Green Chillies Darwin. Our team are naturally inclined to being helpful and friendly, and enjoy assisting our guests with any queries that they may have, so we are happy to see that you found their advice helpful.
