I recently stayed for a week in a "Premium Hotel Room with Waterview", each unit is individually owned so the units may vary somewhat. My review is of Room 807. I really enjoyed the room, it was nicely furnished, the bed was comfy, it had new blockout curtains, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, the bathroom was fitted with a glass shower screen and new vanity. It has a private balcony with a fantastic view over the Cullen Bay Marina from the 8th floor. A nice touch was the staff had the air-conditioning turned on prior to my arrival. The only downside is the room has an interconnecting door with the adjacent 1 bedroom apartment, which is positioned near that units kitchen, the door affords no soundproofing at all, you can hear every conversation, microwave button pressing, kitchen bench clunking, etc. It was a bit creepy at times, felt like they were in my room. Cullen Bay resort is in a beaut spot, Cullen Bay is the upmarket end of Darwin, the marina is a short stroll with nice restaurants/cafe, and a parkland on the beach to watch the sunset. There is a bus stop out front with a public bus running directly into Darwin, about 10 minutes away. The Casino and Mindil Beach Markets are a short 15 minute walk along a waterside concrete pathway. The staff I met were all great, very friendly and helpful, a shout out to Rose, Kate and Dangie(D). Apart from the inter-connecting unit door issue I would still definitely stay in this hotel room and the resort again.

The location is great, good views of the Marina, parkland and the ocean depending which apartment you are allotted. We stayed for 3 weeks. On the day of arrival the hot water tap was leaking and it took 5 days to fix. Housekeeping was to be done once a week. One week later housekeeping arrived, left clean towels and didn't take soiled towels. Took soiled towels to reception and was advised we should have left soiled towels on the floor. 4 days later housekeeping came again while we out. We assumed housekeeping would come at the end of week 2. We did not know they we to come early. No housekeeping at the endof week 2. Housekeeping a bit hit and miss at this location. Spoke to reception who advised we have a washing machine in our apartment and we could have washed the towels ourselves. This was the first time we had been told to wash our own towels even though we had stayed at this location twice before. The apartment was not well furnished, all furniture was old. The microwave was placed above the fridge and far too high - a safety problem. The clothes dryer also was far to high to use. A spring in the double bed protruded from the mattress. There was not information booklet in the apartment giving details about the locality or services in house. A disappointing visit this time and we likely will not return to this venue.

Excellent location and view from the one bedroom unit we occupied were unobstructed over the Cullen Bay Harbour.
Unit was ìn good condition and bed whilst slightly too firm for our liking was in new condition. Curtains (past use by date) were missing in living area and in bedroom would not close sufficiently to block light from adjacent walkway.
Few minor hiccups experienced during our 7 days were:
1. Jackhammer noise from 9am to mid afternoon each weekday .. due to extensive renovations. This was unexpected and frustrating as we were required to conduct business calls and zoom meetings on several days.
2. No additional/spare roll of toilet paper was provided!
Only 300 metre stroll to good variety of cafes and restaurants.. we found each that we visited to have quality food and service.
The CBD of Darwin and most of the tourist attractions were easily accessed using the e-scooters available for hire .. and generally found one to hire at our front door!

Stayed here for 3 nights, work conference in cbd. First night couldn’t get tv to work, tried numerous times with reception changing batteries she said. Eventually found manual buttons but when came on the tv had bad lines up and down in multi coloured, reception said couldn’t do anything that night. Maintenance ended up installing new tv next day around noon. Room 607 at back of complex. Room door not fclosing properly in door jamb, had to really slam it shut hard to get it in. Balcony nice but door having issues soon with its bottom runners as hard to open and shut, wearing out. When storms come in onto balcony the water doesn’t get away quickly down small drain area, pools there for ages. Bed comfortable and extra pillows in cupboard. Bar fridge worked but wasn’t cold nearly all the time, drinks didn’t get cold we put in there. Also location of powerpoints hidden away and not easy to get to for plugging in adapters for electronic chargers, computer, very poorly situated. Shower area just makes grade, curtain not long enough so water goes out very easy onto floor, tiles in room could do with some new grout, holes in and looking tired. Shower water pressure not real god, short showers I suppose so you don’t use much hot water when it comes through as took a long time. cold drinks and nibbles at reception area reasonable price and drinks cold. Parking a issue as very limited secure undercover parking, some. Residents have their own allocated spaces, some bigger vehicles take up 2 spots so limits others. Used back parking areas, no issues while ther, just annoying coming in back gate then to elevator especially when leaving with bags first. Location to Cullen bay shops a few minutes walk, but most shut in afternoon periods or not open at all for lunch time, very limited. Close to CBD area by five minute drive, a few shops for meals a few mintes back towards CBD, try Cafe 21 as was good meals and friendly service. I would stay again, only because of location and value, not for class of amenities.

Cullen Bay Resort is in a good location in an area that seemed a bit less touristy than the newer Darwin Waterfront area but still had a great selection of restaurants withing easy walking distance and was only a short drive to many attractions. We had a hotel room with water view. The room itself was comfortable and clean, nothing glamorous, but the view was stunning. Our room had a door to an adjoining room through which we could very clearly hear guests talking next door. They may have just been especially loud. There was no plug for the bathroom hand basin.
The undercover parking is a bit tight but there is an outdoor parking area available with good shade, where we preferred to park. The swimming pool area is pleasant with both shady and sunny spots and wasn't too busy when we were there at the absolute peak of the tourist season.
Reception staff were helpful. There is no laundry for guests of the hotel rooms, but we were allowed to use the washing machine in one of the apartments when it was between guests, which was helpful.
Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would probably stay again.

We chose this resort due to location, view and pricing. Check in and parking were easy, and staff friendly. This is a building of the early 90’s as most are in the area. It’s becoming dated, and many are getting facelifts and refurbishments. We paid extra for a water view and we’re glad we did, as it compensated for some other slight deficiencies. Our room was small, but for 2 nights adequate. A bar fridge was handy but no supplies were included. The kettle was on top of the fridge and that was the only prep area supplied. There is a small table, but it is not near the power. Strangely there were 2 bowls, 2 wine glasses, and only 1 very small coffee cup. If you don’t want a basic daily service to refresh towels etc, then you leave out your do not disturb sign, but there wasn’t one. Again strangely the lady came in and replaced the bath mat and hand towel, but did not replace our dirty crockery, which was strange considering the only place to wash up is in the small bathroom basin. Bathroom was small but adequate and still uses a curtain for shower. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but it definitely time some upgrading was done. Location is awesome!

Dear K8terrin, Thank for you for your review regarding your recent stay with us. In regards to bar fridge we only supply milk, we do not offer mini bar service. These items are available from our kiosk area and vending machine in reception to purchase. Thank you for letting me know about the lack of crockery and no DND sign. The housekeeping are also required to provide clean crockery. These issues will be taken up with the housekeeping department. A number of our bathrooms do have shower curtains and we hope to have these replaced with shower screens during our quiet period. Once again thank you for your feedback. Regards Rose

Although it appears that they are going through renovations the place seemed very tired and there was a lot of disruption. I feel they missed a lot of the little things, such as check in informations that was emailed to me a day after I arrived.
The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and polite, there was advertised items in the ‘kiosk’ that were not available and over priced. The complementary milk in the fridge was curdled and out of date.
If all you are wanting is a room for the night while you explore Darwin then this is good for the price, but don’t expect to much

Dear freeangeebony. Thank you for your review. I was a little disappointed in reading your comments. I hope that you brought these issues that you experienced to our attention as we would have been more than happy to try and make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you for letting us know about the issue with the check in information as you would normally receive this as soon as we check you into the system. We try and stock the kiosk as best as we can but sometimes we do run out of stock, our prices may be a little higher that want you would get in a supermarket but its a service that we can offer to our guests without having to hope into a car and drive. Once again thank you for your feedback. Regards Rose

Located overlooking the Marina at Cullen Bay had a 2 bed 2 bath apartment for 6 nights.
Apartment was clean and serviced once while we were there. All amenities included - dishwasher, washing machine dryer, fans, air conditioning in all rooms. Beds really comfy.
Secure underground parking which was great as it rained a lot. Good pools.
Staff at Reception friendly and very helpful.
Close to City.
Will definitely go back.

I always stay here when visiting Darwin, and am always happy:) This hotel is well priced, however, I did pay a little more for better accommodation and it certainly didn't disappoint so was well worth it. FYI, stayed in room 809 on top floor.
It was a beautiful self contained 1 bed apartment overlooking the marina with stunning views. The apartment had been updated to include a new kitchen which had everything in it you could ask for including a washer/dryer and full size fridge.
Cupboards were well stocked with utensils/pots/pans for home cooking if required. Full credit to the owner of this apartment for decking it out so nicely and making it feel like home. Did I mention the views?:) Waking up to that water view is amazing and made the heat on my holiday much more bearable. Of course icy cold air con was provided in both rooms. Bed was also very comfy and wardrobe space was great...extra coathangers were definitely appreciated.
I must also mention that nothing was too much trouble for the staff, allowing us to stay a little longer as we weren't flying out until late, but of course, it was going into wet season, so hotel wasn't full. Hotel foyer was stocked with not only food/coffee but all the touristy brochures you would need for your holiday. Happy days, I will be back yet again, thank you Cullen Bay Resorts, you're awesome!!!
