This hotel is situated in the middle of the CBD and you can walk to many sights and restaurants. In fact you have to walk to any restaurant since the hotel has none. They do have a cafe in the same building, but you have to walk about a block to get there. Breakfast is served in the cafe. If you have booked a rate that includes breakfast, you receive a voucher for a choice of three items: Bacon and eggs, an omelette, or two pancakes, plus juice and tea or coffee. The room itself is comfortable. But the wi-fi is erratic. It worked fine for four days. Then it stopped working. The person at the front desk came up to my room and connected me to the next room's wi-fi so I could access the internet.

Pros: Large room with two double beds Check in from 2pm and check out is 11am In the middle of town and you can walk anywhere from there… although it might be a long walk… Good security, as you need a swipe to get in the door and use the lift Air conditioning in rooms is cold Friendly staff who were doing their best Close to Coles and cafes and other shopping. Blackout blinds Button to call a taxi in the foyer. Cons: No hot water one morning. Room not serviced on one day of our stay. Hotel entrance is down an alleyway. Advertising incorrectly advised that there were amenities that were not in fact available such as the restaurant. Rooms are tired and unattractive Beds are made with just sheets. No blankets. Although there were blankets in the cupboard. No way to contact reception without going down there. One small window with no view. Made room dark and unpleasant. Sheets felt of poor quality. Only one lift working for the whole hotel. And it looks and feels like a car park lift. Self check in in the foyer of the hotel is cumbersome and unnecessary. Towels are thin and no longer white. Cheap and nasty toilet paper. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again… surely there is better elsewhere? Probably would also not recommend spending more than a day or two in Darwin… there is not much in town.

Positives first: Location very central. The Irish girl on reception in the morning was super helpful. Very secure (have to use key card 3x before getting into room). Not-so-positive: Cannot open windows for fresh air. No view, only looking at tin roof. Room was really dark. Very hard to try and control temperature of room (mine was way too cold the whole time). The whole building stunk like stale cigarettes, (nowhere for smokers, except the alley-way at the entrance,so I guess people have been smoking in the rooms). The pool area was the least-inviting I have ever seen, avoid. The entrance area is really awkward, as they have the weird self-check-in-kiosk they don’t have anywhere for the staff to sit/or a reception desk, so they have to stand in the corner of foyer all day.

Customer service is non existant. No breakfast in the hotel but a voucher for a cafe down the road with only 2 options, no evening bar, pool was closed, wifi unsecured and difficult to get on to. Self check in, with no support. No phone in the room (I guess because there was no one to phone!). No tea or coffee making facility in the room. The towels smelt disusting and no one to contact to rectify. Absolutly appauling. Do not waste your time or money on this hotel.

Rydges Darwin Central is ideally located to be walking distance to many attractions and just a stroll to busses. You can find all manner of food places and we thoroughly recommend Johnn Johnns gelato just around the corner! The hotel reception staff apologised profusely then upgraded us to a junior suite when our room wasn’t ready for check-in. That was lovely of them and we felt spoilt. The space was extra nice and the amenities perfectly suited our needs, allowing us to buy in breakfast supplies and self-cater. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and we slept very well. Thank you to all staff who made our stay memorable.

This hotel there is no customer service. This is a self check in & check out Hotel. On arrival there was no Shampoo, only one towel for a room of 4 people room. The room had no hot water for the first morning. I told a duty Manager about my issues. She said she did not know about the shampoo issue, she said she did not know about the hot water issue. She said she would get Me some Shampoo. My wife called reception straight after this. Ricardo a receptionist answered. He said we have had complaints from many rooms about hot water not working this morning. Ricardo was honest and told us the truth. Why didn’t the Duty Manager tell us the truth as well. The kettle is so dirty inside see picture. Very dirty hotel I would not recommend this hotel to stay at.

After travelling the NT for a week we were looking forward to a short stay in Darwin with a comfortable bed to wind up our trip. Upon arrival we were subjected to the new Rydges self check in which is totally unwelcoming. The hotel is centrally located however that is where the positives end on this experience. Located near one of the popular nightclubs in Darwin we on each night our sleep was disrupted with the noise of the night club, patrons leaving and the the emptying of bottles into the recycling. The rooms are dated with noisy air conditioning, no balcony, no opening windows, a small tv, minimal appliances and dated furniture. The beds are so hard we contemplated sleeping on the floor. After four days here we cant wait to leave we have grossly overpaid for this totally underwhelming experience

We had 4 nights here and it was bizzare. The website is nonsense, there is no restaurant and no bar. Breakfast was on a voucher for the cafe next door with 3 choices , no breakfast buffet spread as pictured and expected. No availability of an early cocktail or late night drink As for our room 616 we had expectations in coming to tropical Darwin of a light and breezy room with a balcony perhaps overlooking the harbour and a few palm trees . Instead we got a view of a sheet of corrugated iron over the window and had to have the lights on during the day!!!! No not a lie. And no service or towel change. We thought this must an environmental initiative to save water etc But..... No towel rails in the bathroom to hang wet towels. Oh dear . Good points . It was clean and the room was serviced after a few days. And it's centrally located. Never again

Booked for 4 nights from Saturday 29th April to Wednesday 3rd May. Seemed expensive for what you got, room was serviced each day, pity they kept giving stained coffee mugs to drink out of. Best thing it was close to where I wanted to be.

Marketed as 4 star but have stayed in better 3 star motels. Weird machine check in that felt like supermarket checkout. Empty fridge on arrival ( no cool water or milk for tea) some appeared after we had bought some. Bizarre design choices : bed light switches just out of reach; dim lighting with few things on walls; expense room based Wi-Fi to cast your own device to television but television very small so cast image would be smaller than viewing on your phone from chair or bed! Bathroom tiles remarkably slippy when wet. No in-house restaurant and vouchers for mediocre cafe next door for breakfast.
