Detailed Reviews
This hotel is placed with beautiful views over Darwin Harbour.
On arrival the Reception Ruby was extremely helpful and caring letting me know tourist opportunities hotel facilities and also gave an upgrade which was very nice.
The room were big the bed comfortable free internet a good size bathroom with large bottles of body wash shampoo conditioner etc.
I went to dinner at the restaurant was shown to my seat, then ignored although there were few people in the restaurant. He waiting staff were quite young inexperienced and lacked any checking from management.
The second night I was served quicker and young woman brought the food without knives and forks and serviettes and disappeared. It was cheaper club sandwich meal with chips and could be finger food but the fingers got messy and she did not return for sometime whilst I noted talking among themselves.
Eventually I did catch her and at least she apologised. Again no senior management checking on the performance.
The third night I went for dinner was different experience with quick service some of the young staff but an experience manager kept the staff working. And they were efficient.
Breakfast were good and the staff were professional
. The food was good quality and a nice selection. A chief will cook your eggs to order.
The hotel is lovely with some exceptional staff like Ruby but also with some poorly trained unsupervised staff that give poor service through lack of guidance from more senior staff management.
Overall it was a reasonable experience.

Room Tip: The dining for dinner experience mid week is poor but better on the weekend.

Hotel's Favorite
Lovely hotel in Darwin in great location. Has been refreshed and is now much nicer. Pool is a bit small but was never busy so not a problem and you can use the pool at the DoubleTree next door as well.
Car parking is free (not undercover)
Breakfast was ok but not worth $33 for the full and would be nice to have an omelette made fresh and coffee included.
Staff were all excellent.

The experience I had spending three nights at Hilton Garden Inn on Darwin’s esplanade was truly incredible. Todd who was very professional, kind and delightful helped me with reserving the perfect room over the phone. I was quite blown away by the view over the sea and gorgeous Darwin sunset from my 7th floor balcony when I first arrived and was quite happy that Todd had followed through on my request for an ocean view suite. The room itself was very modern and spacious with comfortable king bed, soft sheets and comfy pillows and large smart TV that enables you to stream from your device once you connect to free wifi. Indra and Ruby were truly amazing with helping to make my stay as pleasant as possible and ensuring that my extension of an extra night was done seamlessly. I’m grateful to cleaning staff for providing me with extra towels and to the catering staff for helping me to enjoy all the delights on offer at their restaurant. I was quite impressed by the buffet breakfast included in my room and loved being able to make my own fresh juices! And I’ve left the best to last but I’d like to thank Sasa at the ground floor cafe for making the best barista coffee in Darwin which made my stay even better! Thank you to the Hilton Garden Inn team and I look forward to my next stay with you in sunny Darwin! :)

The location on the Esplanade is great for anyone who loves to walk/run. The hotel is close enough to Coles, Mitchell Street, great restaurants, night life and if you are fit enough, you can even walk to the Wharf which has the man-made beach and wave pool (around 2kms away, but remember its hot and humid).
The Good: the Hilton is appropriately priced for what you get. The rooms are clean and a decent size, all with a very small balcony. The bathroom facilities are modern and in good working condition. There is a pool but as the hotel is right next door to the Double Tree Hilton (its sister hotel), you can use their pool (which is very nice) and their gym, so this is a big bonus, at no extra cost as the two Hilton hotels share facilities. The staff are helpful but didn't give free room upgrades even if you staying for a number of nights.
The Bad: The pool at the Garden Inn doesn't look inviting at all, and is very small, so thank goodness you can use the Double Tree Hiltons' one. The reception area is renovated but the rooms (sleeping area) are not. In fact they look like they are still stuck in the 90's and some door frames are damaged, with paint chipping off. Around 2/3 of the hotel rooms don't have a sea view.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. Dinushka Goonathalake looked after us very well. Having stayed for a conference a previous week we were most appreciative of a lovely room opening onto the park overlooking the bay on our return from adventuring in Arnem Land. Our room was always fresh and light, the bathroom modern. We appreciated access to open air from the small balcony. A good variety of teas was provided. The atmosphere was relaxed, suiting Darwin's tropical feel. Freshly prepared breakfast on the terrace or indoors and excellent coffee available if desired. Easily accessible morning & evening walks in the park along the bay to town and nearby restaurants was an added bonus.

We stayed here as part of an all-inclusive tour so cannot comment on value for money. Extensive view of the esplanade and Darwin harbour from our large and well furnished seventh floor room, which had all the usual amenities. The shower was large but space a bit tight in the rest of the bathroom. The bed was comfortable with reading lamps on both sides, but serious design fault, all the room lights were controlled by one switch. It was impossible to use one discrete reading light, without having every light in the room blazing. Buffet breakfast was delicious.

Spacious, well-appointed rooms, small bathrooms, small towel rails but towels are replaced daily. Harbour views from the front rooms. Short walk, three city blocks, to Smith St mall. Good buffet breakfast available. Dinner in the restaurant, Together & Co, at pub prices, was enjoyable. The hotel takes cards only, no cash and charges a hefty fee on credit cards.

It's of a comfortable standard one would expect of a Hilton hotel, but you'll pay a high price (over $400 a night) when slightly less comfortable/prestigous options are available which are more central. Its about a 20min walk into the centre of town and a taxi ride to Stokes Hill Wharf. So while you are comfortably accommodated, you are a long way from tourist attractions.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the former Double Tree by Hilton has been rebranded as a Hilton Garden Inn Darwin.
The rooms have all had a fantastic refresh since my last stay, and it does look very smart.
Check in / Check out were a complete breeze and all the staff I interacted with during my stay were all extremely helpful.
You cant go wrong with the location of this property as everything downtown is within walking distance of the hotel. Onsite parking is available which was super handy.

We stayed here for a night then stored our luggage & went to another city, came back for another night before leaving Australia. Breakfast was included in our reservation. They had poached eggs & crappy scrambled eggs. Breakfast was ample with several choices. Dinner was fine. I took a photo of their menu. The room and shower were clean & water pressure was great. Wifi in our room was fast. They have a well working AC in their rooms. Our room was quiet & front desk was responsive to our requests. They have an outdoor swimming pool. This is a cashless hotel so don't ask them to break big bills. The hotel is about 11 kilometers or 6.8 miles from the Darwin Airport. We'd stay here again if we're in the Darwin area.
