I stayed here for a couple nights last month while visiting family in Darwin. The check-in was smooth, and although my room was on the ground level and right next to the reception as well as outside drive area, it did not disturb my time inside the room, or when I am sleeping. The bathroom is great, high water pressure and the air-conditioning keeps the room cold. The other good point about the hotel is there is a front entrance, and a rear entrance that leads onto another road which is more quicker to access Mitchell St than trying to walk around the other main road area. I really think this is good value for a modern hotel.

The Darwin city hotel is modern and centrally located within walking distance of both Coles and Woolworths and Mitchell street where all the pubs and nightlife are.
The staff are friendly and welcoming.
The rooms are small and modern and provide a desk with a chair and a microwave and tea and coffee making facilities, and a bar fridge.Â
On hotels.com they advertise it comes with a minibar but there is no minibar and there was not a single glass for customer use in the room.
The rooms are clean and the king-size room is actually two single mattresses pushed together and there are only sheets provided on the bed and there are no doonas or blankets available in the room.
The beds comfort wise were ok, but was certainly not premium bedding but the beds were clean and did the job.
There is a 43 cm LCD TV and hotels.com advertises it with satellite channels but this was not correct there is just standard free-to-air TV channels.
In a very disappointing manner there is no housekeeping on the weekends despite the fact you pay as much or more than the weekdays.
There was no emptying the bins changing the towels making the bed nothing for the entire stay of 2 nights which I think is disgraceful in a country we're accommodation is expensive for what you get.
The shower was clean and the water pressure was average at best.
In the bathroom they provide you with two tiny tubes the size of your thumb one being shampoo and the other being conditioner and two small tubes of bath gel with certainly would not last two people for two nights over the weekend and I found this very disappointing.Â
There is an ironing board and an iron and a luggage stand.
There is a very small swimming pool and a cramped area out the back of the hotel which was very uninviting.
The charge $10 a night for parking which is a terrible habit Australian hotels have charging additional for parking and totally unnecessary and not in line with many worldhotels that offer free parking.

From my initial phone call to book until I checked out this was a smooth hassle free experience, When I arrived my room was not ready so I was offered an upgrade to a king room at no extra cost which was ready. The TV remote did not work-it was replaced immediately and there was no toilet brush in the room, one was provided immediately with a friendly smile and no dramas, I cannot speak highly enough of the Staff here always smiling ,happy, friendly and willing to provide directions and assistance
The room I stayed in on the ground floor was really good. Comfortable bed and amenities. The Hotel has gated car parks on site a laundry and pool area and a great city central location
The only downside was the echo down the corridor of people coming and going at night and early in the morning and perhaps management could lock the pool gate at the closing time to prevent people swimming after hours (4.30 Sunday morning) and disturbing the people whose rooms are adjacent to the pool.
Overall a good stay and would certainly consider staying here again

We booked this Hotel through Qantas but will never stay here again. We arrived on Saturday and left Wednesday, a total of 4 nights. The Hotel is not cleaning rooms on weekends however our room should have been cleaned on Monday and Tuesday. Problem was Cleaners did virtually nothing, On Monday all they did was pull up the sheet, place the pillows in position and leave one extra towel. On Tuesday, all they did was pull up the sheet. The bathrooms were not touched on either day with the basin, taps and floors untouched and no toilet paper replaced. The main room was also not touched other than the top sheet. Floors were left dirty, both bins were not emptied during the 4 days there and both bins were filthy on the outside with stains running down the sides and dust on top. We were really disappointed and brought our issues to the attention of the young lady on the desk on Tuesday afternoon who told us she would inform the Manager. We left at 10.45am the next day and no one came to see us or to see what our room was actually like. The room itself was quiet and the location ideal, however if cleanliness is important, I wouldn't stay here.

Very clean hotel with plunge pool and diy laundry, stayed for five nights with a friend we both had rooms facing Smith St, found to be a little noisy on a Friday and Saturday night due to the nightclub opposite staying open until 5am.
Rooms very clean, but for some reason bed very noisy every time you turned over, would not like to spend a honeymoon here, if you know what I mean.
Modern technology you put your access card in the slot and you are greeted by music sounding like it came from ‘Close Encounters of the third kind’, beside lamps the same, lots of lights and weird music had no idea what the flashing lights did or do or how to turn them off. Instructions would have been useful, or better still do away with them.
Having said all that we stayed 5 nights and will be back for 3 more, a very good priced hotel in the centre of Darwin.

The room was dirty and the shower floor looked it it was never swept. The toilet had stains around the water level so it hadn't been scrubbed either. We arrived on Friday for a 6 night stay to be told there was no housekeeping on weekends. Ran out of everything. When the room was made up, only the bed was pulled up, no sweeping or cleaning any surfaces or cups. No replacement bathroom items either. We had to keep going to reception ourselves to get the basics. Sheets not changed in 6 days. Go elsewhere!

We booked our room through Qantas frequent flyer and we were dismayed when I opened up the curtains to find two large bin hoppers and the clothesline outside. It was obviously a service area that should not be witnessed by guests. They had probably given us this room as it was through FF. Eventually after much discussion they moved us to another room. This room should be used as a store room and out of use for guests. Very disappointing start to a holiday.

We stayed at the Darwin City last weekend. From start to finish our experience was great. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the price was excellent value. Rooms were immaculately clean and very comfortable. Thanks team, we recently stayed at the Grand Stamford in Glenelg, the Darwin Central was of a much higher service and cleanliness standard at about a quarter of the price. We will be back.

I live in Darwin so know what to expect. This is a poor hotel. Booked one bedroom with sofa bed but the sofa bed (which it isn’t) doesn’t fit one child let alone 2 and wasn’t ready to go. Forgot my car booking request and they said I should have stated I needed a sofa bed. The booking was for 2 adults and 2 children and the room description clearly sets it had a sofa bed. Had plenty of cockroaches dead and alive . Location is good but that’s all it has going for it.

I recently started a new job in Kakadu which meant I'd need to spend some time in Darwin and a long stint in the city ten years earlier taught me that the hostels are not worth it... so I decided to upgrade and Darwin City Hotel was the answer.
The rooms I've stayed in have been really comfortable and the staff have been nothing but professional, kind and accommodating - I mentioned that the coffee mugs in my room hadn't been cleaned and they sorted it out without a problem.
Additionally the location is really ideal - right in the centre of the city and very close to a lot of food options. Will definitely be staying here during my future days off from work.
