We had a fantastic room, very clean, with a nice view. Loved the heritage building, great location. Quality linen so slept very well. The staff are friendly n helpful, very keen to help with any enquiry including going out of their assisting with car parking
Fabulous location, lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for me, spotless room, totally safe environment, loved the history of the place, the restaurant is special, I have stayed here before and will be back.
I booked here for two nights mid-week as I need some time away from my own home. Check-in was seamless but you come to expect that from an ACCOR hotel. Being a platinum ACCOR LIMITLESS member, I was surprised to have not been offered an upgrade but perhaps they were fully occupied. The first thing that I noticed when I entered the room was the musty smell. I can only assume that this was from the old air conditioning unit. I booked a Heritage Queen bedroom. The booking site says ‘Elegantly designed and open plan, this room features high ceilings, queen bed, ensuite bathroom with quality amenities suite, bathrobes, work desk, gourmet mini-bar and free WiFi’ I do recall in the welcome email that it did state that bathrobes were only available upon request. The gourmet mini-bar was not available and I will get to that in a minute. There were two chairs in the room. The standard desk chair (which needs to be re-stained) and another one that only a child could have sat in without it breaking. I could not find any in-room dining menu, or mini bar menu. Apparently, the welcome email said it could be viewed on the TV. When I presented to the reception desk I asked about the mini bar and was advised about COVID changes but that I could order drinks however they had run out of chips etc. I then asked about the in-room dining menu only to be advised that the restaurant was only open Thursday to Saturday, but I could order UberEats and they would supply cutlery. Quite surprising that an ACCOR HOTEL would not have a restaurant open 7-days a week. The welcome email said restaurant was open Tuesday to Saturday. Power points in the room are all in the skirting board and if you have short cables your devices will need to be on the floor and plugged in to get charged. The bathroom can only be described as pokey. The shower head is immovable and is situated in such a position that if you are a tall person you will have to stoop to wash your hair. A word of warning, watch yourself as you step in and out of the shower because there is a lip and I almost slipped twice. Also, the shower floor gets very slippery. I was shocked as I was drying myself that the towel I had were stained. You will also note that these are not large bath towel but average size ones (about 1300mm by 400mm), so if you are a large person you will barely be able to get it around you. The impression that I get is that they are your typical Kmart towel. The air conditioning unit has two settings. Cold and colder. This was despite me turning it to heat and setting the temperature at 24C. As I said earlier, they are not new machine and may just need to be serviced. The one thing that should be noted, and it is not even noted on the website, well not clearly, is that Harbour Rock Hotel is NOT and NEVER will be wheelchair friendly. Eric’s Bar is described as ‘…is just for you. Incorporating the charm of its heritage past, combined with the latest in world leading design and international service, why not step in for a freshly made espresso or relax with friends over a glass of specialty wine and perhaps something from our delicious menu’. What it does not tell you is that it is really just an extension of the reception desk with 3 stools at the bar and four tables (with two seats on each) along the wall. Even if they did have a menu, on the Wednesday night the restaurant was closed so you could not have eaten there. An issue with breakfast was that despite being a platinum member I was not on the list of included breakfast. Reception rectified that. At Crepe Suzette, the choice is limited. Your breakfast includes 1 crepe and 1 drink. Anything is additional. If you want a decent breakfast then I strongly recommend you find something else nearby because this was not a decent breakfast. I would have been better to walk to McDonald’s. There is nothing in the room that tells you how to connect to the free WiFi, it may have been on the ABOUT section of the TV but having staying in a lot of ACCOR hotels I knew how to connect. The speed is not superfast which I have come to expect in ACCOR hotels. As I was checking out I noticed a two-page document that explains everything that I needed to know. It would have helped if that had have been given to me on arrival. As a Platinum member, it appears that Harbour Rock could care less. I have come to expect a lot from an ACCOR hotel, but Harbour Rock cannot be classed as anything other than a mid-class, economy or at the worse a budget ACCOR branded hotel. It is most definitely not a PREMIUM ACCOR branded hotel. Very disappointed in this ACCOR HOTEL. I am booked again in a couple of weeks but will definitely be cancelling that booking.…
Beautifully renovated Heritage Hotel. It may not have all the mod cons of a new hotel, but it makes up for it in charm and location. Staff were all very helpful. Would definitely stay there again on our next Sydney trip
This hotel was amazing. It's central to everything, the rooms are large, comfortable and clean, the staff are friendly, and the history of the building is fascinating. And although it's in the heart of The Rocks, we didn't find the noise level too loud at night, despite a number of bars and nightclubs close by. We'd definitely stay again!
