Just got back from a family weekend getaway in Maldon. Hanson house was perfect we booked both rooms the double for my husband and I, and the twin for our boys. Both rooms had en-suite bathrooms with shower. Everything was spotlessly clean and we had everything we needed. We met John on arrival and were reassured regarding the current situ, as John was very covid savvy i.e not touching door handles when letting us into our rooms. The breakfast was continental and everything we needed for a decent breakfast was already in the room, juice, milk, tea, coffee, bread, jams, cereal, yogurts and some chocolate chip cookies☺. Comfortable beds and really quiet location. There's also a small fridge in each room.

We stayed one night to attend a large family gathering in the area. There are two rooms separate to the house so you have your own front door and can come and go as you please. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything you would expect. We had continental breakfast in our room which was simple but very nice. The only slight issue was lowing water pressure in the shower, not so bad you couldn’t use it just not up to the standard of the rest of the room. Would highly recommend.

We have stayed here many times and the service and welcome from John and Debbie are always second to none, impeccably clean and comfortable with a superb breakfast. Without doubt, the best place to stay in Maldon. If only there were a chain of Hanson Houses.

We were made welcome and looked after very well. Our room was clean and comfortable. The attention to detail was excellent. Our every need was catered for. We liked the fact our front door was separate from the main house. The breakfast was 10/10

We wished to visit RHS Hyde Hall and also to explore the local area for a few days as it was previously unknown (to us!). We chose Hanson House based on the Tripadvisor reviews and are happy to report that we were not disappointed. The location is quiet, the accommodation is very comfortable, and the garden lovely. Owners John and Debbie readily accommodated our vegetarian breakfast requirements and we slept well each night. We would have no hesitation in choosing Hanson House again if we return to the area in future. Tip: if the weather is fine and you have the time take an 'afternoon tea' trip on one of the former Thames sailing barges based in the quay .

We wanted to stay in the Heybridge or Malden area for one night and this little b and b met our requirements nicely. The accommodation was a self contained bedroom/ensuite that was sites with another set within the garden of the host's house. Breakfast is served by them in their dining area. The arrangement is therefore more private than the average b and b. The accommodation was quite new, very clean and inviting and the breakfast was beautifully cooked with Full English or Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs options. The setting has on site parking and is in a quiet location. Although the outside environment was quiet we did have some issues with the noise emanating from the boiler unit during the night. We reported this to our friendly hosts and they promised to rectify the matter. The stay was otherwise perfect to our requirements and subject to that rectification we can heartily recommend this little establishment. The price of the overnight stay with such a good breakfast was very reasonable. Thank you to our hosts. 😊

We stayed two nights and could have had a third even though the owners were going to be away (the 3rd night would have to be bed only ...) - owners most co-operative. Comfortable bed, good lighting for reading in bed. Lovely garden and super breakfast (recommend the fruit salad) - they even added hash browns at our specific request. We agree with the 3-star comment about the TV power switch, but not about the shower (we experienced no problems with ours).

Don't be put off that the guest rooms are in John and Debbie's garden and that you have breakfast in their dining room - it is all part of a charming personal service they offer. I got a welcome confirmation email after booking and a follow-up text on the day of arrival. The garden is beautiful with a Japanese feel and four separate sunny or shady sitting areas. The rooms are spotlessly clean and airy, with a fridge, TV and free WiFi, and breakfast is excellent. Everything about Hanson House shouts attention to detail & personal service and I think these folk have got the great value B&B experience spot on. Mark T - King's Lynn
