Having stayed by the beach a few years ago we decided to try a different location and it was beautiful. Lovely welcome and room overlooking the gardens. Lots of birds. It was very tranquil and everyone was very friendly. The pool was a good size with a pool bar offering drinks all day which were good quality. The meals were superb both in choice and quantity. The staff were extremely professional and polite and very attentive. The gym had all you needed and the spa was gorgeous. I had the lymphatic drainage massage and hubby had a pedicure. There was a plumbing problem in a few rooms so we were offered a change of room and moved to one overlooking the gully. Huge bed and monkeys visiting in the balcony. Loved it!! Did we miss being on the beach? Surprisingly not. It was 15 mins to walk to Heywards Beach, 30 mins to walk to Speightstown where there were loads of buses taking you all over the island and we did go a visit Holetown again and have a beach day. Complimentary glass bottom boat trip/ swim with turtles was excellent and you could stay on the beach after the trip and get the bus/taxi back if you wanted. The hotel also run a shuttle five times a day. It’s very safe to walk out and about and the locals are very friendly. Not many places I would go back to but I would here. Thanks everybody

My sister and I had the pleasure of a recent stay at the Sugar Cane Club Hotel & Spa and it was one of the most peaceful and enjoyable vacations I have ever experienced. The staff were very hospitable, the environs were beautiful and well kept, excellent gardens, and the room, the ocean view suite, was clean and comfortable. It was simply a serene experience and allowed us much needed rest and relaxation. Special commendation to Tamia in the office, Junior and the staff in the restaurant, as well as the front desk staff who all ensured that our stay was first class. I highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Having missed this place for a long 2.5 years, we finally made it back to our little slice of paradise! The years just melted away when we stepped into reception to be greeted by the lovely Michelle and handed a refreshing Rum Punch to kick off our stay at the SCC! Stayed in one of the new rooms this time, which whilst not having the kitchen facilities that the suites have, was everything we needed for our all inclusive stay. Having read a few of the recent reviews on here, I felt obliged to write another one myself to give an objective view. It saddens me to see reviews from other repeat guests who seem to have forgotten what the SCC is all about, and don’t appreciate the impact COVID has had on the Island. Every possible measure was taken to keep guests safe, including reducing the contact between staff and guests by limiting room cleaning to every 3 days. It was made very clear that if you wanted this doing more frequently or needed anything -(change of towels etc) - all you had to do was ask, yet some people seem to have found this a problem? Personally, it suited us just fine and appreciated the thinking behind this. As repeat guests, we were welcomed back like family, however you have to appreciate that the have a lot of guests coming through this place, plus there has been a minimum of 2 years since most people have been able to return due to COVID, so it would have been perfectly fine if we were not recognised at all; our egos are seriously not that fragile! As for everything else - okay so they are still in the process of getting fully back up to speed with having a full vaccinated staff team, and yes - they don’t have a beach facility at the moment, but have plans to open another one next year, and the shuttle will still take you down to the beach so it’s not like you don’t have the option of spending time on the beach. Yes - you will have to buy your own food and drink if you are using one of the beach bars sunbeds, but come on guys; you are on holiday, and it’s not like you will be doing that every day! Should have done your research if you were looking for a beach based holiday! For us - having the combination of the tranquility of being at a hillside, spa retreat with a swimming pool and lush gardens, with the option of being taken to the beach when you want to is the perfect combo. Anyone who travels right now and expects things to be ‘as if COVID never happened’ needs to take a reality check! The loss of tourism on the island has had a noticeable impact, and quite a few places are no longer operating, but you can see it’s starting to regenerate again, so if you love the island and it’s people, you will embrace and support their journey. The guys at SCC are doing an amazing job in the face of adversity, having been closed for a significant time, losing some staff, and no doubt having the same supply chain problems that we are seeing the world over - so give them a break! You will still find a unique hotel that ‘oozes Caribbean charm, with an outstanding staff team who go out of their way to make your stay as special (and safe) as possible! Huge shout out to all the staff, but especially Michelle, Ricky, Ryan, Tamisha, Sharon, Junior and Xavier - these guys are just amazing and are tremendous ambassadors for the SCC. I for one can’t wait to return and benefit that everything Barbados has to offer, which primarily is; beautiful people, amazing beaches, chilled vibes and a incredibly warm welcome. This place is real - not just some ‘glitzy’ holiday destination, so drink it all in, appreciate its uniqueness and feel blessed that you are fortunate enough to have been part of it for a short while!

Hi Mad4Italy, Thank you so much for leaving such an honest review of our hotel. We are happy to hear that you made it back after a long time away from us and that you enjoyed staying in our new rooms. They are a really great option if you are on the all-inclusive plan and don't need the kitchenette. We have stuck to our 3-day housekeeping policy as we are trying to limit as much contact as possible between our guests and staff in order to keep everyone safe. Thank you for your understanding and for mentioning that housekeeping is available more frequently if requested. It is great to welcome back our loyal guests and we really appreciate the honest review. Hope to see you back again soon! All the best, Jacob

The Sugar Cane Club is positioned in the most beautiful garden which is well tended and immaculately tidy. This is a fairly small family business, with exceptional staff who constantly go out of their way to ensure you have the best, relaxing holiday possible. This isn’t a club for party animals, more for people who want to find tranquility and a home from home and being adults only is a real bonus! The spa efficiently managed by Erica is very special, try the marine lymphatic massage and the coconut milk and geranium oil bath. The restaurant serves delicious meals and the Christmas a la carte dinner was exceptional, every element of the meal was delicious with lobster, salmon and if you wished a traditional Turkey festive feast. Staff are without doubt one of the highlights and as a solo traveller, it was very special to return to the hotel after a day out to be welcomed home by name and asked how the day had gone. Special mention must go to Xavier, Rashidi, Gregory, Junior, Susan, Eryka and James. Kirk, Philip and Laval keep the gardens in exceptional condition and happily chat about the plants in the grounds. On Christmas Day, Laval cut beautiful bougainvillea blooms to make flower arrangements for the dining room. Jacob, the manager, goes way and beyond to ensure guests are welcomed and I was hugely impressed by his personal attention to detail. His ability to connect with guests is very impressive. The shuttle bus to Speightstown and the local beach is a real bonus and in the coming months, the Club will be opening their own beach club which will be a great addition, as well as developing the beautiful gully area. It’s a good idea to hire a car in order to explore the island and nowhere is too far away, Hunte’s Garden, Andromeda Botanic Garden, St Nicholas Abbey, Bathsheba, Earth Works, at the end of a day touring around, it is very special to return to the peace and tranquility of the hotel. I loved my stay as a solo traveller, meeting many interesting people, being made to feel special by the staff and I intend to return in the future, which is unusual for me as I tend to never return to somewhere I have visited before. Barbados has captivated me and I’ll be back. Thank you Sugar Cane Club.

The choice of accommodation in Barbados is extensive but few, if any, have the unique quality of this inland hotel & spa. Situated in attractively large luscious green grounds where the verdant trees, bushes and flora are calming and inspiring, the Spanish style villa buildings immediately welcome its guests and offer a promise of great things to come. The choice of rooms allows for the most flexible of stays with excellent self catering facilities if needed. The rooms are large, well decorated and have a fresh and relaxing atmosphere. So too do the restaurants and bars which offer a fine range of drinks and very good menus with dishes for all-embracing tastes. These include delicious buffets and mouth watering barbecues served around the eye catching centrally located swimming pool. Its policy of not allowing under 15 year olds makes for a peaceful and friendly ambience definitely suiting those who are looking for a more tranquil holiday. A regular shuttle bus gives an opportunity for those who prefer to bathe in the warm Caribbean waters but the pool itself is seldom crowded and ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Perhaps the canned music in that area could be more suitably selected and mirror the live musicians who entertain so well on occasion in the evenings. The spa offers a comprehensive selection of treatments all administered with care, courtesy and patience. These qualities are also found in the management and staff whose attention to detail is exceptional especially in these challenging Covid times!. This is somewhere I have stayed regularly for the last eleven years and look forward to returning in the near future, Highly recommended,
