This is such a wonderful and quiet place. You have to go there to understand because no words can describe the beautyness of this place. Two friendly, helpfull and passionate owners with a goal to make this a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the surroundings and the holiday. Clean appartments, no big luxury but everything you need. Good place in the central of Umbrië: perfect to visit a lot of beautiful spots in Umbrië. We will be back! Frederik, Natalie, Helene (Belgium)
We stayed in this beautiful property for 1 night in April 2019 and found the check in process and amenities to be excellent. We also really appreciated the option of a 35Euro fixed menu dinner, which covered 4 courses and wine). The food was excellent, My only suggestion is that tea and coffee making facilities be included in the bedroom.
We stayed for one nigh and all was perfect. From super friendly staff, very clean and big room to super nice view and park around villa. Unfortunately we did not tried pool but it looks very nice. Price for that nice accommodation was very fair.
Unfortunately we only had 1 night. Lovely grand estate with beautiful grounds, spectacular view, luxurious old world rooms and a very helpful young manager. Relaxed and informal in a very surreal setting. Live the life of the rich and famous for a treat!
We stayed there for a couple of days for a wedding, and it couldn't have been a better spot. The country house is surrounded by beautiful countryside, great to have a walk out under the sun (but if you expect any shop or anything, it'll have to be by car), and the staff is really nice and helpful. It's an old house so sound isolation between the rooms isn't ideal, but besides that it's a great, quiet and beautiful spot.
My husband and I chose Il Castellaro to celebrate our wedding weekend in June and we couldn't have picked a better place. Most of the wedding party, ca. 30 people, arrived on the Friday (some from Italy, some from the UK) and left on the Monday morning, and every single aspect, from the catering to the accommodation, from the organised transport to the activities in the venue and in the gardens, were inspired. It couldn't have gone better, without any worry, stress or problems for us or our guests. That's a big compliment to Dan and Letizia, who run the place almost single-handedly, as they made everything tick along perfectly. On the Friday night, we had requested a welcome dinner which took place by the 'Borgo', below the main villa. The caterers did a fantastic job because the food was utterly delicious - bountiful platters of fresh, local food, celebrating the tasty Umbrian cuisine, now my favourite in Italy! On the Saturday, our wedding day, we all moved to Perugia, as we'd decided to get married in the old town hall so that our guests could experience the lovely city of Perugia (Il Castellaro also organises civil ceremonies on site). Lunch followed at the Cafe' di Roma, a short walking distance from the town hall, and was provided by the same caterers. The food again was superb! We returned to Il Castellaro in the early afternoon and for our evening reception from 6pm. I can't begin to explain how special the setting was, always thanks to Dan and Letizia. The gardens had been turned into a magical, relaxing landscape, with a beautiful long table set by the swimming pool for our meal. A live three-piece band (cello, guitar and violin) accompanied us until late evening (the highly recommend Quartetto Hubay!!). Every little detail had been covered with such care and attention, which impressed us and all of our guests who continue to tell us how much they enjoyed it. We couldn't recommend Il Castellaro more, and thank Dan and Letizia for making our wedding weekend such a memorable occasion! We're already planning to go back on our anniversary next year, and maybe try the self-catering apartments next time.…
A lovely wedding brought us to Il Castellaro; the couple described their preparation, planning (incl. plan B, C...) as very attentive and professional. As a guest I have experienced professionalism all over the place -and Il Castellaro offers lots of space!-, professionalism with eye for detail -everything was very cured-, creativity -compliments to the chef! and decorators too!-. All waiters, without any exceptions were very polite, always attentive without being invasive. A few days before the wedding I asked for audiovisual facilities, everything was in place -incl. a smart planning between main course and desert- I only needed to pop in my SD card and the newly weds only needed to sit down in their perfectly placed two chairs. The wedding celebrations included a tasty and extensive aperitivo at the boarder of the swimming pool, a lovely gourmet lunch in the shade of beautiful trees, desert -you might have thought you had enough but OMG how easily were we all tempted again- and afternoon with swimming, live music and so on. At dinner the group got smaller but nevertheless some 40 people could take a seat again for an unprogrammed but nevertheless tasty, cured and relaxed dinner. We stayed over for the night in one of the apartments, which were also very lovely, clean and comfortable. Coffee, tea, water and snacks on the house were plenty and the breakfast served in the main house was also perfect after a day full of festivity. In sum; superlativo! Way to go and all the best for the future to the whole team @Il Castellaro. Ciao, Anna…
We stayed here at the end of June 2015 for a long weekend as guests at a wedding party. What a lovely setting, spectacular views, comfortable accommodation and weather perfect. The main villa is set in beautifully maintained grounds, with lovely gardens and an inviting pool. We mainly stayed around the pool area where they served meals and supplied drinks for the wedding party. At each table were white linen and nicely decorated accessories. The staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for you and always had a smile. The wedding planner Dan and his partner were on call all the time and did an amazing job. The happy couple were extremely pleased with everything and all their guests were well looked after. We stayed at one of several apartments set a little distance from the main villa (5 minute walk) Dan will pick you or drop you if you wish but we loved the walk and the views. The apartments were lovely, well equipped, clean, even had a coffee machine and free waters in the fridge and a free bowl of local snacks. Just perfect. The breakfast area was opposite our apartment which was brilliant and one night the bride and groom had a barbecue there, tables looked lovely all made up. The food for the whole stay was delicious, lots of different fresh salads and plenty of choice. Would definitely highly recommend this place, especially if it was for a special occasion like a wedding or special birthday party with lots of friends joining you. Dawn xx…
I stayed at Il Castellaro for a long weekend in June. I was with a group of friends and we rented out several apartment suites all in the same house. We very much enjoyed our stay. Dan the manager was very friendly and helpful. He responded immediately every time we needed him. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the property is beautiful. We made good use of the big pool given that it was 30 degrees during our stay. They provide breakfast but no lunch or dinner. I strongly recommend Il Castellaro if you are planning on visiting Perugia. However it would be wise to rent a car as there is no public transportation from the city centre to the hotel and taxis cost around 50 eur one way. The network/wifi in the rooms isn't good a bit better in the common areas.
My girlfriend and I stayed in Il Castellaro as part of a wedding party in early June 2015. We stayed not in the actual hotel but in one of their self-catering apartments slightly down the hill from the hotel. The setting could not be more stunning. Il Castellaro is nestled in the beautiful Umbrian hills with a lovely pool and amazing grounds full of cypress trees overlooking the rolling countryside. You really need to have a car in order to stay here. Taxis are expensive as they all come from Perugia which is around 15km away. For example, if you want a taxi into Perugia it'll cost you around 50 euros one-way (20 for the taxi to come out to the hotel and 30 to take you into Perugia). So saying, the remote location of the hotel is what makes it such a tranquil and relaxing place to stay. The self-catering apartment was very nice, with double bed, kitchenette, dining area and en-suite bathroom. Everything was clean and well-presented and the room was cleaned every day. Breakfast consisted of cold meats, cheeses, croissants, cakes, coffee and juices. Dan, the manager, is extremely accommodating and professional. He was always around or contactable on mobile to answer any questions or to help out in any way. He is fluent in English and his excellent customer service really enhanced our stay. All in all, Il Castellaro is a beautiful place, the pool area is idyllic and if you want to be in the middle of the Umbrian countryside this is the perfect place to stay.…
