Our 13-day stay at Emerald Faarufushi lived up to our family’s high expectations. This was our second visit to the Maldives and we loved our time at Faarufushi.
Yes, I’m going to start by saying it’s the people that make the place - because it’s true. From Chef Moreno’s cuisine to our villa host Aslaan to the sporting director Jerry to Alina and the kids club crew - we were so well taken care of.
If you’re seeking a gorgeous place to pass your time in the Maldives - this is the place for you. You’ll eat well, relax, explore, and soak up the beauty of the Maldives 24/7.
Our villa host Aslaan was there when we needed him, and even when we didn’t, he was scheming up ways to make our holiday better - especially for our three boys. For example, when he learned how much my older boys adore soccer, he organised extra matches with the staff (and this is by far their favorite memory of the trip). He also arranged special birthday surprises for my two youngest, gave me advice on which excursions were best for us, answered by million questions about life in the Maldives, and so much more. And, they’re rocking their new Maldives soccer jerseys at home! I know they will be talking about their friend Aslaan for a long time! Thank you Aslaan - we appreciate all of your hard work to make our time in the Maldives so special. I’ve worked in tourism and I know how much effort you put into your position - shukuriyaa! (GM Patrick - Aslaan is a gem!).
The staff at Aqua got to know our family and they were so kind, patient, and playful with the boys. From special Spiderman pancakes to the most delicious buffet food, we were always impressed. The other restaurants were also excellent. Everyone raves about Mediterraneo and Chef Moreno’s food - but coming from Italy I wasn’t keen to eat Italian food. When we did finally eat at Mediterraneo I regretted not booking it sooner. My Italian husband even said it was much better than some of the best restaurants in Italy. He is still talking about the tortelli and the spaghetti with lobster sauce and the carbonara. How funny is it that we’re back in Italy dreaming of Italian food in the Maldives? :) Chef Moreno was also always around for a chat or a recommendation or to answer our all of our questions. Grazie, Chef!
Thank you also to Jerry for entertaining my boys - they were always happy to take off with you to play ping-pong or look for hermit crabs!
And to the amazing staff at the kids club - you three kept my kids entertained and they always asked to go back to see you. Highlights were bracelet making, stone painting, learning new board games, playing outside, and playing on the game console (of course!).
The rest of the team, from housekeeping to the dive center, is obsessed with excellence. GM Patrick has put together a great crew of champions that made our trip perfect.
Other things to note: -We loved the snorkelling at the house reef and on the excursions. We snorkelled mostly in front of our room (109) at from the Mediterraneo jetty. We saw so many fish, sharks, eels, and stingrays. The 2-location snorkelling excursion was well-worth it, and so was the manta/turtle snorkelling excursion. -No mosquito or sandfly bites in 13 days for 5 people. -Faarufushi thoughtfully arranged fantastic weather for us. All sunshine except for about 5 minutes of sprinkles one day (and a couple of showers during the night while we slept). -Buffet seemed small at first sight (and from pics online), but there’s plenty and the quality is top. There are also extra stations set up for most lunches and dinners (indoors and outdoors). -There are groynes around most of the island. I didn’t really like the look of them but they do help with beach erosion, and there’s a lot of fish life around them (which was great for one of my sons). -There’s a couple that sings at night, but otherwise it’s fairly quiet, so it’s not a great island if you’re looking for a lot of nighttime entertainment. -The kids club staff and amenities are fantastic. My boys raved about the activities and time with their kids club buddies. -Activities and dinner reservations are booked quickly. Reserve before you arrive if possible. I did but waited for a few things (like sunrise yoga) and missed out. -There’s no nickel-and-diming here. Truly AI, so no stress about costs during the week. Thank you Emerald Faarufushi. We hope to come back soon!

We've been to more than 10 Madeira islands so far in 2016 and Emerald Farofuji is what we think is the best value for money. I booked my next stay right away on the island.
Our housekeeper, Haseen, greets us with a smile, very attentively plans every activity and meal plan for us, and has the patience and amazing speed to solve all our complex problems. Almost most of the waiters are smiling and patient to serve us, room service Irman understands our needs, very thoughtful to clean when we are not in the room, does not cause us trouble using the room, every day will change tricks towel animals to show children.
Every restaurant on the island is delicious (except for the teppanyaki 🤣), all the food can be ordered, the waiter is very warm to let us eat as much as possible, just in case we are hungry 😂. The wine was delicious, not a bad mix, and freshly squeezed juice.
The room was very intimately designed, the curtains were bright to open and the curtains were very blacked out to sleep until you woke up naturally. The air conditioning is very cool and does not kick the quilt in the middle of the night.
The bikes on offer are also very good to ride, and the Emerald Faro Fuji Island is small, but still generous in providing bikes to guests, which we appreciate.
The snorkelling spot is beautiful, not many corals but a very, very large variety of fish, just like in the aquarium, very amazing!
It's a real island, not like many islands that hold a one-price all-inclusive but only let you order three-way meals and then add money at your own expense. We love it here and hope Emerald Farofuji keeps it going, always so great!

The room was very big with a pool at the balcony and freshed with the elegant fragrance which created a good mood and sleep for us every day. Our room number was 336 at the sunrise side. The sea view was fantastic during the sunny days. And we saw rainbows when it was raining for a while. The cleaningman Wandi provided nice service for us, cleaning the room twice a day and would satisfy our special needs written on the letter every day. Our steward Nicole helped us a lot. Whenever we have problems or made some small mistake(like missing the time) she would solve the problem for us. She also arranged the surprising dinner and room set for our honeymoon and the birthday of my husband. The waiter Rabkit at the carnivals was a kind man. I was scared by the lightening one night and he gently changed a table and served special dish to comfort me. What surprised us most was the technique of the cameraman. He KNEW how to make the most beautiful photos for couples and families. Although it was a little expensive, we still bought 8 extra pics. I have to say that Emerald was a fantastic island. The food and resort and facilities here totally showed it was a leading hotel company.

The honeymoon vacation I have been looking forward to for a long time. Everything went wonderfully after arriving on the resort island. I am very glad that I chose Emerald Faarufushi!!! The natural environment of the resort island is great. Just like the name of the island, the sea water is super beautiful emerald green. Everywhere is a beautiful scenery. I like to get up every morning and relax on the balcony looking at the sea water. At noon, I can enjoy my meal in the restaurant. The beautiful scenery of the beach, walking on the beach and drinking some wine at sunset, and the starlight at night, I feel so dreamy every day~ Another reason why I chose this resort island is that it is all-inclusive at one price. There are a total of five restaurants, two bars and a buffet restaurant. You can choose from different meals every day. The meals are all of a high standard, and the waiters The recommended wine is also delicious! In short, you don’t have to worry about not being full or not to your liking here~ In addition, I also pay great attention to the dining environment. I am most afraid of insects when dining on the island, but I have never encountered any in the five days here, and the service staff will clean them very carefully. When dining, you only need to enjoy the food and the scenery. This is really Give the resort a boost! Every staff here is very friendly and always greets you with a smile. Whether it is the housekeeper, the counter, the restaurant waiter or even just the employees you meet on the road, you can feel that they want to bring the best holiday atmosphere to everyone on the island. and will always confirm their feelings. Next, we would like to thank our butler Ting, who cares about us every day, helps us make reservations and reminds us of our daily itinerary, so that we can have fun and feel at ease. ! Thank you Emerald Faarufushi for allowing us to leave precious memories!

The title says it all. We had the most wonderful stay at Faarufushi for nine days in November. The setting, the ambience, the accommodation and the staff, were all outstanding. The team are lead very professionally and efficiently from the top down, with Patrick, the General Manager being very visible and keen to receive feedback. Rao, the extremely attentive resort manager, sorted out an initial issue we had with our villa, very quickly efficiently indeed and heads up a great team. Housekeeping was wonderful, again very efficient and personable, offering several personal touches, such as when recognising our anniversary and our departure. We moved from a water villa to beachside villa, with two superb attendants in Irman and Wuyan responsible for each. The ONLY reservation we had was that the steps into the sea from the water villa to the sea was extremely slippy & with a broken step, so we tended not to use them. Both rooms were spacious and very stylishly furnished. The beach villa with pool, probably had the best location on the island and was a firm favourite The choice of five restaurants ensured we never found the meals repetitive, our personal favourite being Mediterraneo, protruding into the sea. We watched at night as several colourful fish, reef sharks and on one occasion, a ray, swam close. All restaurants were truly excellent, enhanced by the truly outstanding staff. However, the Asian as well as the Terryaki restaurants, were also very memorable. We are not particularly fans of buffet restaurants but the buffets here were absolutely top quality, several notches above others we have experienced. Praise should also be given to the lovely Grill Restaurant.
The drinks were indeed premium, wonderful cocktails, highly impressive wine list and champagne included. The bar was a great place to have a drink before and after dinner, or indeed at any time of day, presided over by Joseph, Kassung and Ram with great personal service by Bona too.
Finally, our great thanks to Chami, our concierge, for whom nothing was too much trouble and who looked after us from arrival until departure. He is relatively new to the resort so an excellent addition to the team. Outstanding!
I am very conscious that although we have named some staff, EVERYONE was exemplary and I apologise that we didn’t capture all the names we should have from the bars and restaurants. A few that we did: Roy, Primyanka, Sabine, Smiley?? (Pool Bar,) Shimaau, Ameen, Mija & Vishnu. The staff who cleared coral off the beach and the women sweeping up sand should also be recognised, as they too make a valuable contribution. That these functions are performed shows how much attention to detail the resort applies. In summary, this is a must-go-to resort. We had high expectations but they were most definitely exceeded. Without a doubt we will return. A truly wonderful & very memorable stay.

We travelled to Emerald Faarufushi in November for 10 days off winter sun.
The good :
The resort was very clean & all the staff very friendly & by the end of the 10 days we felt very at home.
We had a sunset overwater villa which was amazing, very spacious & the bathroom was one of the biggest we have ever had. It was kept very clean by our room boy Lyias who did an amazing job and he was a lovely & friendly.
All our meals had been booked before we arrived at the Island by our concierge Faheem & we were sent a daily what's app message reminding us of our days itinerary & what activities were available on the island. He also checked in with us every day to see if we needed anything.
All the restaurant's on the island served amazing food, our only comment to make on food was that there could have been more items on offer as it was very limited on some menus & we would have preferred not to eat in the buffet as we like to be served our meals as it is more special, especially on holiday.
Snorkelling on the island was amazing, there was a pier on the edge of the reef so you did not have to swim out it & it was like a real life aquarium.
During the stay we were approached almost daily by the head chef or the resort manager checking our holiday was all ok which was a nice touch.
The Bad :
We did not take part in any other the excursions of offer or any extra activities as they did seem to be very overpriced compared to other islands. It also seemed that the staff expected to be tipped at all times & seemed to wait for a tip
Our only real negative on the holiday was that when a member of the party stood on a rusty nail left behind on the patio from construction, we did not receive an apology from the management. The incident was dealt with promptly by the staff & the Dr at the time but it would have been nice to have received a sorry.

We truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback, and I’m delighted to hear that, overall, you had a wonderful time with us. It’s fantastic to know that you felt very at home during your 10-day stay. I came to Maldives with my child this time after a honeymoon 20 years ago. We stayed here for 5 nights, looking for ① all-inclusive, ② family friendly, and ③ not large.
About an hour from Malé by seaplane. Seaplanes are not recommended for young children as they are small, hot and noisy. If you are over a certain age, you will be happy to see the beautiful ocean up close. With no Flights scheduled until the last minute, I thought I needed to be free of frustration and have some time in my mind and schedule.
The Resort welcomes you with drums and welcome drinks. It is a 20-minute walk around the island with a total of 80 rooms. You can relax without getting crowded. Bikes are placed in each room for the number of people, so you can also travel by bike.
We made our home a beach Villa. Facing the beach, it is spacious. The sea in front of the Villa feels private. Wine, champagne, juice, soda and snacks were always available in the room, and they kept refilling. There is also a pool, so you can play in the sea or the pool depending on your mood. Because it is all-inclusive, it is basically free no matter where you eat or drink.
Snorkeling equipment is also available for free rental, so you can swim with tropical fish at the snorkeling point that you can reach from the beach in front of your room, or at the point on the other side of the island. There was also a cute lemon shark, basically harmless, which was fun. The service also takes you on dolphin watching tours and fishing. We chose dolphin tours and saw many dolphins.
When I told her it was my eldest daughter's birthday, she decorated my dinner table and arranged a cake for me. She also decorated the Villa with flowers, candles and balloons as a surprise during dinner, which the eldest daughter was overjoyed to see as her best birthday.
The Owner was Italian, so the clientele was mostly Italian. The others were Russians, Brits, Australians and Chinese (Hong Kong and Singapore) and I never met any Japanese. 50-50 for couples and families. There were toddlers and babies running around in diapers and swimsuits, so couples looking to soak up the romantic atmosphere might prefer the Adult Only Resort.
The staff did not seem to be able to speak Japanese, so communication would be smoother if they were able to speak basic English. Each room will have a caretaker host who will ask you on social media, so you need to communicate in English.
Finally, we settle at the Check-out for premium alcohol, coconut (fresh, native to the island!) Split it in half if you ask and you can eat the flesh), lobster, spa, diving and snorkeling tours. In our case, we have added expenses that we have never used before, so we need to make sure we check them thoroughly.
We ate a lot of delicious food, enjoyed the beautiful sea and had a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

Upon arrival at Male Airport, you will be immediately met by a staff member and everything will be taken away from you (luggage, check-in waterplane, own transfer to the waterplane). Luggage can be found in the villa.
Likewise the departure: Equipped with a beautiful and very high-quality water bottle as a parting gift, you will be accompanied to the security check at Male Airport. Very pleasant!
Once at the resort, you will be met by the personal butler (Mr. Vicky Tanwar thank you very much!) received. From this point on it is everywhere "no problem" whether restaurant reservations, drinks, food ......
Our beach villa (surprise - upgrade to beach villa with pool) was absolutely fantastic. Spacious room concept from the bathroom to the terrace, quality equipment and always a filled minibar (wine fridge extra) with drinks and snacks. Even on the champagne cap was not forgotten!
The resort can be fully recommended: A very high quality AI concept like Illy Cafe, branded drinks and lots of different high quality bottled wines and top cocktails. I know this differently from other resorts, for example, despite similar price!
Culinarily an absolute dream with the highest quality food and of course fresh fish in sashimi quality every day. The Italian chef Mr. Moreno, who is always present in every restaurant, also cooks a special dish for one at no extra charge.
For snorkeling a very good reef and accessible from many sides. Some of them are permanently anchored lifebuoys on the outer reef every 30 metres. Some still have many intact corals and many many fish of all kinds (from giant pushers to clownfish). Also a very green island with beautiful shaded paths. The whole resort is really extremely well maintained, despite the weather!
The entire crew (from butlers to roomboys) make this resort special. Service oriented, friendly and always attentive. No waiting, no empty glasses, no dirty dishes at the table and it really fulfills every wish.
Dear team of Emerald Faarufushi Resort: Thank you for this unforgettable stay!!!
So this resort is an absolute recommendation!

Our 3rd visit to the Maldives and booking with Jo and her team at Angelfish Travel and wow, our dream holiday this year was simply fantastic from start to finish.
We cannot recommend checking Angelfish Travel enough, you won't regret it and it will save you hours of trawling through review sites like this looking for the good and the bad! Trust us, these guys know many of these islands and their management teams, personally as they visit them often!
Tell them your budget and what you want and they will guide you through what can be a minefield as booking holidays like this can be difficult, knowing you don't want to make a mistake!
Every island we have been in the Maldives before has been special, but we do feel like we have been totally spoilt with Emerald Faarufushi, what a stunning island with fantastic people.
Everything about the island is special, great people, great food, great diving & snorkelling.
If we could give it 12/10 for all the areas on Angelfish Travels post holiday feedback we probably would, but most definitely "desire to return" would get at least 12!
We will most definitely be returning, next year hopefully!
As a 5* supercar road tour company (@GTTourz) we do love to include a "Leading Hotel of the World" on our tours, so we thought we would share this fantastic resort in the Maldives - @emeraldfaarufushiresortspa with some of our clients.
All the normal things you expect from a LHW can be found in this beach paradise, but they are turned up to 12, simply a fantastic experience from lights out to the chequered flag when we boarded the seaplane. Many tears were shed when we had to wave goodbye🏁
👨🍳 - The head chef is an Italian (Moreno) with a serious passion for what he does and has a fantastic team under him! Just fantastic food in all the restaurants that you are free to chose from, although you do need to book them via a great App or with your villa butler. We are certainly not looking forward to getting on the scales tomorrow but if you can, get Moreno to make you a Carbonara or Lasagne, its just sublime!
🤿 - Fantastic dive centre with great staff and some lovely dive sites and a fantastic house reef full of life @faarufushidivecentre with the @the_aquamaan as our lead diver on this underwater tour🦈
🎸 - Great entertainment with live singers
🙏 - We have been looked after from start to finish by our fantastic villa host Elite, all part of the service at this great resort
🍹- Fantastic bar staff with great cocktails and mocktails lists and a wine list fit for any wine connoisseur.
🧹 - The whole place is kept pristine by a fantastic team of staff that are very proud of their island and even rake the stones and broken coral on the waters edge every day!
There will be tears shortly, we simply can't wait to come back to this magical paradise 🏝️😎🏁
Thanks to Jo, Dan & Clare at Angelfish Travel for all your help with our holiday, you always make the difficult decision of choosing where to go in the Maldives easy!

Dear Alan Cookson, Tropical greetings from Emerald Faarufushi Resort and Spa! Thank you for your outstanding review and for taking the time to share such an in-depth reflection of your experience at Emerald Faarufushi! We are truly honored to have been part of your dream holiday and to have exceeded your expectations during your third visit to the Maldives. We’re delighted to hear that you felt “totally spoilt” with our resort and that everything from the food to the diving, and the exceptional service, stood out during your stay. We had an unforgettable stay at this Maldives hotel, and our experience started the moment we landed. Upon arrival at the airport, we were greeted by Rammah, who was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and polite. He held a sign with the hotel's name, guiding us to the hotel’s exclusive lounge at the airport extension. The lounge was a lovely surprise complete with comfy Lazy Boy chairs, clean restrooms with showers, and a beautiful view of the seaplanes taking off. They also offered delicious snacks, making our wait even more enjoyable.
Afterward, we were escorted to the seaplane, which took us on a scenic 50-minute flight to the island. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a boat ride to the reception, where we were welcomed with traditional drum music, cold towels, and refreshing drinks a truly warm and hospitable introduction to the resort.
Each guest is assigned a personal villa helper, and ours, Kumar, was outstanding always attentive and willing to assist with anything we needed. The restaurant team was exceptional, with Chef Fady standing out as particularly remarkable. He was not only incredibly talented, but also warm and friendly. The food he prepared was some of the best we’ve ever had both Egyptian and international dishes were made to perfection. The Italian chef and live pasta station were also fantastic, ensuring that the food was always fresh, creative, and varied. The quality of the meals exceeded our expectations, with amazing service from the waitstaff, particularly Mohamed, Khaled, and a lovely lady from Tajikistan. They always went above and beyond, even preparing dishes off the buffet when requested.
The water activities were another highlight, with a wide variety of options and an amazing team. The two gentlemen who assisted us, particularly the one who loves Mohamed Salah, were fantastic. We enjoyed kayaking, glass-bottom boat rides, and snorkeling, with free equipment provided by the resort. Snorkeling was incredible, and the views were breathtaking.
The resort’s cleanliness was impeccable thanks to the dedicated housekeeping team who kept everything spotless. The Maldivian women responsible for maintaining the paths and roads were especially friendly and welcoming. In addition to the thoughtful touches like bamboo slippers, umbrellas, bathrobes (even for kids), and raincoats, the resort surprised us with cute sea turtle teddy bears and personalized water bottles as souvenirs.
As part of the all-inclusive package, the minibar was stocked with free refreshments, and the band provided wonderful entertainment, making it easy to relax and enjoy the evenings.
Overall, this resort is a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and hospitality. The service, food, activities, and attention to detail were exceptional. We left feeling truly spoiled and can’t wait to return for another visit!
