Maayo Resort San Remigio is a beautiful place to be. If you’re looking for tranquility and relaxation. This is the perfect place for you. Value for money value for time All personnel were friendly and accomodating. Everything were excellent. Surey, i will be back….
My family stayed in this resort 3 years ago and we were really satisfied with our 1st visit! However, I cannot say the same based on our recent experience with the changes of the resort. Pros: - room rates are affordable - great views - helpful staff - food is okay Cons: - road leading to the property has not changed. It is still narrow, only one vehicle can pass. - modular rooms! * awful location; far from the pools and restaurant, not resort-like * no shade at all, guests have to walk under the scorching heat to get to the main areas * does not feel sturdy because the floors are shaky * paper-thin walls I did not make this booking because I always do my research. I know we all have individual preferences, but we were disappointed. If I knew about their newest "room", I would've picked another. …
The food is not good. Simple, it is not worth the money. The prefab rooms seem flimsy and noisy. The pools are good. The beach is awful. 3 hour journey from Cebu to visit here? No thank you. Better beach at Maravilla. Better food in calanderia. Good for photo shoot and toddler pool. I would rather be on a good beach in a simple room with honest good local food. Not impressed
To be honest, I didn't expect much because we got a family villa for such a reasonable price. (We were able to avail of their 2-night weekday promo.) However, I was pleasantly surprised by what was waiting for us at Maayo San Remigio -- and so satisfied that I'm actually communicating with them right now to book another stay later this year. Let's start with the things that could be improved. The pillows weren't very comfortable: a bit too thick and it seemed like the type of pillow you'd find in a boat. In the bathroom, there was no division between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom, and so the floor was constantly wet. Because of previous feedback, I was expecting the food to be horrible but it actually wasn't! At least the dishes that we ordered were fine, if not something you'd write home about. We even repeat-ordered the battered chicken and bam-i. For the breakfast, I'd recommend the bacon. My folks didn't want to go for the breakfast buffet, so we just waited for 10 AM and ordered ala carte. I loved the online ordering system. We could order ahead and put in a note to have the staff call our room once the food was ready. And the restaurant staff were great -- very helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Wishlist: I'd love for some chairs down by the beach. (I saw some in older photos but there weren't any while we were there.) It would be nice if the pool opened earlier (6 AM maybe?) so that we could start swimming while there aren't a lot of people around (for distancing purposes) and while the sun isn't too hot yet. What I really, really loved was the wide open wooded area in front of the deluxe villas. The benches overlooking the sea were a fantastic place to just hang out and recharge. We were there on a weekday so it wasn't busy and we were able to really enjoy the place whilst managing to keep a healthy distance from other people. All in all, more than satisfied.…
The resort is developed with nature in mind. It is a nice place to just chill and relax'. There are many trees around with benches positioned underneath some, and near the cliffs for a good view of the sea and to breath fresh air. The ground is generally covered with bermudagrass. We stayed in a family villa just a few steps from the infinity pool, and also near the sandy beach front of about 100 meters length. You can watch the sunrise or sunset from some of the benches facing the sea. During our 2-days short stay, the pool was open only at 7am. Personally, I prefer it opened earlier, say at 6am so I could do my knee strengthening exercise of walking in the pool much earlier. Our room had two queen beds and one twin bed. The beds have nice firm mattresses, but the pillows were uncomfortably hard. The bathroom has no exhaust fan. Instead, it has a small overhead window (about 9 x 18 inches) which is always kept open, and it had no screen, so it is a good entrance for mosquitoes and other small insects, which unfortunately we noticed during our brief stay. The shower area had a curtain up to the floor, but it could not prevent the floor on the other side of the curtain from getting wet because the floor on both sides of the shower curtain are on the same level, with only a slight slope away provided on the shower area. The ala carte food choices in the restaurant were good, however, on our second day, the ala carte was not available because they were offering only buffet breakfast and for a fixed price. This made the guests hostage to whatever food was available and to its price. And to think that there is nowhere else to have food in the area, because of the secluded location of the resort. On the positive side, since there seems to be a dearth of information available for the resort, the room is provided with towels, toiletries, kettle, hair drier, slippers, umbrella and an emergency flashlight. Available was a small ref but serves only to cool the complimentary water that is provided. There is also welcome coffee in sachets. The staff were very nice and accommodating. However the resort has a policy of no bringing of food inside. Actually I don't find this policy guest friendly. I have been to quite a few resorts and hotels around the world and I don't remember any implementing this policy. However, overall, the staff and the location are very positive for the resort.…
I was able to enjoy my stay because everything was just beautiful. I loved how the staff of the resort greet you every time you pass by them. A simple gesture yet important for me. Safety protocols were even followed which is very important in this COVID-19 Pandemic. Rooms are very cozy. Will I be visiting again? Definitely!
If you’re coming with friends, get the barkada room. I like the area in front of the room. It feels exclusive and the expansive garden and sea view right outside feels like I have my own unrestricted space. Visited with friends to relax and was surprisingly able to balance work and relaxation. Internet access was great but inside the room was weak. I hope they fixed that part already. Would definitely come back - am actually here again for another visit now.
Maayo San Remegio is the best relaxing place in northern Cebu. Infinity pool with changing sunset colors matched with hospitable staff can deffo make your trip worth the hours drive. Considering the limited operations post pandemic, the place will never fail to give you a satisfying stay. Its resort is wide open that you would always feel safe and not crumped up compared to what we have in the city. Its price is affordable that its worth any penny spent. Looking forward for my next visit.
Our stay was peaceful and fun. We got to enjoy the place because it was not crowded especially on weekdays. The place is clean and relaxing. I love the rooms because it is big and nice. The staff were all accomodating. The view is special. There are so many nice spots where you can take a lot of pictures. Overall it was worth it.
The place is very charming and relaxing. Food is affordable and kid friendly. Rooms are clean and well thought of. The villas are preferred and recommended. The staff are genuinely helpful and thoughtful.
