I booked via their website and prepaid my room 5 months in advance. I printed off a copy of their email confirming my booking. I showed up to check in and no record of my booking. Asked me for a voucher which was never sent to me. After 1/2 hour my booking was honoured.
My room was situated on the side of a hill with views out to the surrounding mountains. The bed had clean linen and was comfortable with side tables. There was a small table and a chair and a wardrobe. Lighting was good. The aircon, ceiling fan and TV all worked well. I had to use a power point in the bathroom to recharge my phone.
The large tiled bathroom had a separate recessed shower area. Nice hot water shower with average water pressure.
The balcony had a table and two chairs.
The restaurant menu was primarily local dishes. I usually order chicken curry which was good but only had four different vegetables. Service, in general was pretty good.
Reception were able to organise my trike trip to the nearby waterfall.
They have a caged monkey here which was pretty sad to see. Nice gardens everywhere.
Complimentary trike to the Port.
I only stayed here one night but it was an enjoyable stay.

Located below Mt. Guiting-Guiting on Sibuyan Island. 30 hectares of park like setting. Landscape garden with 32 varieties of hibiscus. One hostel building, and 7 cottages, one main restaurant. Camping, mountain trekking packages, trail biking available, natural swimming area with crystal clear mountain water. Sibuyan Island is dubbed the "Galapagos of Asia" with endemic species of flora, birds and fauna.

We stayed here recently for 3 nights in our own cottage room with fan for 600 pesos a night. Absolutely awesome room with marble bathroom and we'll worth the money. We met so many people in Romblon who recommended this place to us and it was definitely worth it. We also met Edgar (the partner/owner) in Romblon and unbeknownst to us, he actually organised a tricycle to pick us up from the port when our boat arrived in Sibuyan from Romblon.
The resort is truly beautiful and has a river very close by that was clean and we swam in a couple of times. We also hired bicycles from the resort one day to ride the 8km to Lambingan falls. It was great to ride through the many small villages on the way to the falls although the roads is not paved all the way, enough said...
The food was good and reasonably priced and I must recommend the halo halo.
There is not a lot to do in Magdiwang as it is just a small town and we did not opt to go hiking up the mountain or Mt Guiting Guiting national park.

I heard about his place from some other travelers and it exceeded all my expectations. The buildings are made of beautiful hardwood and blend perfectly into the lovely garden setting. Even the fan room with shared bathroom had fine hardwood furnishings and an elegant marble bathroom, all maintained spotlessly clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful, even though the owners were away at the time when we visited. They have lots of suggestions for places to visit and things to do with helpful maps and guidelines. We really enjoyed the Lambingan and Cataja falls, and although we are not climbers we had a wonderful walk to the river through the National park Area, though I suggest that if you want to do this, try to contact the Park office in advance (by cell phone?)as when we arrived there the person in charge had just gone out to Magdiwang, so we had quite a long wait. We also enjoyed the view of Mt Guiting-Guiting from the hill behind the resort. The restaurant offers a good selection at very reasonable prices and can also prepare packed lunches for you to take with you. It was wonderful to be able to enjoy the natural beauty of Sibuyan in such tranquil, comfortable surroundings. All in all, it was an amazing experience, and i hope to come back some time.

From the minute we arrived here we loved this place. We stayed in a beautiful bungalow on top of the hill which was not only spotlessly clean but also offered a terrific view across the jungle to Mount Guiting-Guiting.

The resort's garden is extremely well kept and you feel the effort the staff puts into this area everywhere. Everyone was super friendly and helped us organizing our climb as well as our further travels. There are no other dining options around but it doesn't matter, since the restaurant serves a moderate choice of food.

The Sanctuary Garden is a wonderfully peaceful and well-kept place and we would definitely stay there again.

This is a beautiful resort on a very beautiful island. We spent 5 months touring the Philippines and this was one of our favourite resorts. The resort is set around beautiful gardens within lovely grounds with many native trees and flowers and lovely views.
The room was a detached wooden bungalow on stilts, with a big balcony overlooking the garden. The room was very spacious and felt very luxurious, with beautiful furniture and cable tv at a very reasonable php1,000 per night for a fan room, it's lovely and cool at night so we didn't need aircon. The bathroom was huge, all in local marble, it was definatly the best we had on our whole trip!
The restaurant was excellent, serving a range of local and western dishes at very reasonable prices, even as a vegetarian I are very well!
The owner and staff at the resort were very friendly and welcoming and we felt very much at home during our 4 night stay.
There are so many reasons to visit Sibuyan but the main attraction for us was the waterfalls. We hired bicycles at the resort and the resort provided maps and directions so we could visit some of the beautiful waterfalls. They were amazing, at the first we were the only people there and a swim in the cool water was amazing after the hot and dusty journey!
There is also a river running by the resort where you swim, just outside the resort gates, it's lovely and cool and full of local children at the weekends, they were so friendly!
I highly recommend this resort, it is truly wonderful. I hope we can return one day of a longer stay to explore some more of the island!!

Its name is true -- Sanctuary Garden in Magdiwang, Sibuyan IS a sanctuary -- green, cool and peaceful, with rooms beautifully spaced and respectful of the landscape; a campsite strategically located uphill with a grand view of Mt. Guiting-Guiting; a clean, clear river right beside the property perfect for picnics, lazing, birdwatching and exploring; a reservoir to swim in; and gentle hillside trails for honoring sunsets, sunrises and stargazing. There are rooms fitting all kinds of budgets but if you are the traveler who likes the bustle and hustle of a town center, this resort is not for you.

Sanctuary Garden is child- and senior-friendly despite the ascents and dips to reach the campsite and reservoir. It is one of the rare, secure spaces where my naturalist 7-year old was allowed to roam and explore to her heart's content. This is where my 68-year old mom, normally not outdoorsy, spent hours with species upon species of hibiscus and my 68-year old dad, who doesn't wake up early, to explore the hillside trail before anyone was awake, and the river and small dam right upon our arrival. The dam is a great spot for connecting with locals and their families who like to picnic and dip in the cool waters.

The resort is around 2.6 kilometers from the Magdiwang town center, and unless travelers like to walk, the owner, Edgar Mayor, can fetch a tricycle for you. There is a small store inside the resort. Reasonably-priced food is served at the restaurant -- I highly recommend the fish kilawin and although they are not in the menu, the lumbay (a local vegetable and shrimp dish) and hisbiscus salad. Packed lunches can be arranged with the kitchen staff for whole day trips out.

The personal attention and care that Edgar Mayor gives to his guests are one of the pluses of staying at Sanctuary Garden -- from arriving at the Magdiwang port and departing. In our case, he checked up on us even asking if we arrived safely back to Tablas Island. Depending on their preferences and schedules, travelers can rent bikes or motorcycles and go DIY or go on one of Sanctuary's packaged tours. The only blip is the pricey daily rental (PhP4,500 or more than US$100) of the resort's huge jeepney. There are no facilities for credit cards and to our relief, no wifi. There are rooms with cable TV and celphone signals are strong within the resort premises.

I very rarely recommend accommodations but Sanctuary Garden is tops. And although traveling to Sibuyan takes extra effort, we will definitely come back again to this resort with more friends and family.

If u r about sustainable traveling and like peaceful places with great nature, this is the best option. 3 types of accomodation - dorm and 2 types of cottages, but all of them look great. We took the cottage in the main garden - my best recommendation! U can hire a motorbike and the owners will give u all necessary information how to go around the island, what to see, how to get to the park and will also asssist u with your other trip logistic if u need. Very kind people! The place has got also good restaurant u don´t need to go anywhere else for the dinner or breakfast. Great service for a great price!

The resort was beautiful as it was surrounded with plants and nice view of the mountain.

We loved how they lay out the grounds and the rooms. Our room is located behind the main restaurant and lobby. Room was neat, pillows, beds and sheets were clean/comfortable, space had enough leg room and the view is amazing.

The food served were delicious. Our favorite drink was their mango shake. It is a must try.

Good service and kudos to the staff.

Recommending this to all types of travelers.
