Arrived on the day of our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Face masks and hand dispenses were provided at the entrance and we were taken to our room by the owner Shiela. A large cardboard box had been delivered and Shiela was excited as much as us to open it, where we discovered 50th Anniversary balloons and trimmings. The room was spotless and we immediately felt at home and very safe and secure. There was a large bed, chairs, settee,TV, wardrobe and dressing mirror. A separate bathroom with a bath and shower over, a lovely victorian sink and WC and in a separate cupboard a variety of toiletries to set up a shop. Views out of both rooms over the gardens and parkland areas beyond were magnificent. The furnishings of all rooms was first class has were the flower arrangements. Breakfast was served, with social distancing observed but still being able to talk with other guests.A wonderful choice of food and drink was enjoyed along with useful information about the local area. Some B&Bs we have visited have given us the impression that they preferred that you were out of your rooms all day, at Fauhope this is certainly not the case, the spacious lounge with books and games along with the lovely grounds and croquet encourage you to have a very relaxing vacation. We feel very lucky that we had this place to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and will have no hesitation in booking this excellent B&B again. Thank you Shiela and Ian you made our stay a treasured memory.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like family. Sheila, our host, was so warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and her attention to detail simply exquisite. A roaring fire was lit in the drawing room where we were encouraged to relax and have a sherry and tea and cakes provided. She really has thought of everything to ensure the comfort of guests and Fauhope is a proper home from home. We were sorry to leave but look forward to a repeat visit next year when hopefully we can stay longer.

We stayed at Fauhope for two nights on a weekend break and couldn’t have had a better experience. The room was so comfortable, the breakfast is amongst the best I’ve had (and I’ve travelled a lot!) and Shelia went out of her way to ensure we were so welcome. We very much felt like family guests. All the extras were provided such as sherry in the rooms, afternoon tea with homemade cake, and our beds were made like magic whilst breakfast was served. Sheila is an excellent host and we enjoyed chatting with her. We highly recommend and would love to go back.

Just back from a couple of very relaxing days at Fauhope. So many positives I really don’t know where to start. As a B and B the owners have thought of everything , lots of lovely little touches, luxurious toiletries , spare hair straighteners, lovely bedding etc etc. The B and B is dog friendly which was really important to us and she was made to feel very welcome and not just tolerated . The owners were lovely and very attentive but not obtrusive in any way and the breakfast I would think was better than most 5 star hotels . Well done to the whole team at fauhope you are doing such a grand job and hopefully we’ll be back soon. P.s We were in the garden room which was ideal for the dog and it also had a functional little kitchen area.

Stayed the weekend at Faunhope House, and will certainly be going again. The room was great, comfy bed and good shower in particular, and the location was ideal for a secluded, relaxing weekend. What really stood out however was the service. Every thing at Faunhope felt like the owners really cared about ensuring their guests comfortability, right down to the last detail. Sherry included, basic medicine in the bathroom, toiletries incase you forget your toothbrush and a truly fantastic included breakfast. They went above and beyond during our stay and were a pleasure to talk too the entire time.

In short, I couldn't recommend this stay enough.

As our usual holidays were thrown into disarray by the Covid-19 situation, we decided to revisit some areas we hadn't been to for a number of years. Although outside Melrose, Fauhope Country House is an ideal base for touring about Tweedside and the Border country. It is an easy walk to Melrose across the Tweed, but a much more challenging walk back after a meal - the driveway is steep and seems to get steeper every time you walk up it! Lovely rooms, very quiet, very attentive service and good breakfasts, just what was needed! Make sure you book meals as the restrictions in Gattonside or Melrose due to Covid-19 mean spaces are at a premium at weekends. One to remember for a future visit!

Fauhope is a beautiful bed and breakfast establishment surrounded by acres of beautiful countryside. I spent 5 nights there with my partner, son and dog and had a lovely experience.

We had a garden room which had its own garden and a little kitchenette with a fridge and microwave which was very useful for storing my dog’s food. The rooms are tastefully decorated and in keeping with the character of an old Manor House.

All in all, a beautiful location, lovely hosts and a super cute puppy.
Sheila was very accommodating and couldn’t do enough to ensure everything was catered for and Ian’s breakfasts were sumptuous and tasty. I think the porridge I had, was the best I’ve ever tasted.

Ian and Sheila are great hosts in this beautiful country house within walking distance of excellent restaurants and the lovely town of Melrose. Views over the extensive garden towards the Eildon Hills are just stunning. Beds and rooms are very comfortable; the breakfast includes, porridge, cereals, fresh fruit as well as a selection of cooked food. Highly recommend for just a couple of nights to get away from it all or a weeks retreat to explore the area better.

Everything was perfect. From the moment we were greeted by our charming hosts, Sheila and Ian, in their welcoming, flower-bedecked hall, with views of the Eildon Hills beyond the windows, we knew we were in for a treat. This elegant Edwardian house is set on a hill, close to the centre of the village & faces south, so the rooms are flooded with light. It has been stylishly decorated, but feels homely, which is often hard to achieve. Sheila and Ian made us very welcome and went to so much trouble, from tea on arrival, which came with delicious homemade cakes, to the sumptuous breakfasts overlooking the garden, with tasty home made compotes and everything else you could possibly want. We were evening offered a glass of fizz to celebrate my birthday; such a lovely gesture. Our room on the ground floor had a large ensuite bathroom with everything you could wish for and a little kitchenette hidden away in the adjoining dressing room. The spacious bedroom, furnished with antiques and comfy chairs, overlooked the garden and the hills beyond. The super-kingsize bed was really comfortable, with top-quality cotton bedlinen & tasteful soft furnishings. We will remember the glorious weather, but above all we will remember Sheila and Ian’s kindness and hospitality. They were the perfect hosts.

Fauhope House deserves every accolade it receives and more. An impressive and beautiful art filled house, with magnificent grounds overlooking the Eildon Hills and the River Tweed. It is owned and run by Sheila and Ian, a warm, relaxed and welcoming couple who delight in sharing their home with their guests. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they think of everything and more, to ensure that your stay is perfect. From tea and homemade cakes in front of a roaring log fire, to the best breakfast we have enjoyed anywhere we have ever stayed, we can not recommend Fauhope House highly enough.
Thank you again.

Yes, but check their website directly (not through booking websites) google fauhopehouse com Apparently 'well-behaved' dogs are accepted with a few rules, and the hotel provides doggy treats. Best to phone the owners and chat about your needs.
