This review is from a stay in a post-reopening world. The #1 benefit to this hotel is the proximity to Magic Kingdom. But without park hopping that's not as big of a deal since you're limited as to the reservations and when you can go in the Magic Kingdom (no early morning magic, etc.) But still nice to have the option to walk. The #2 is the view. You pay a great deal for this view and it's much better at a Theme Park view in Contemporary, than Bay Lake. In Bay Lake you're pretty much looking at a massive Space Mountain and a parking lot. But it's great views of the monorails. The biggest difference of why you would select Bay Lake over Contemporary is simply because you want a bigger room with a kitchen. We were taking grandparents and needed a living room and washer and dryer since it was a 13 day trip. Unfortunately, you can't count on the dryer. It will take about 5 times to dry and, yes, we had maintenance look at it. The pool is great and slide fun. Zero entry perfect for babies. One of the biggest drawbacks is there's zero good options at the hotel after the pool bar closes at 6pm or so and there's no room service post-reopening. Contempo Cafe is not a viable alternative. So prepare to take lots of your own food. We had to take our own luggage, which was a lot for 13 days and 2 families, but it was fine. Concierge, Mark, was fantastic! Front desk was very helpful. PLEASE take your own Swiffer wet jet and mini vacuum because they DO NOT vacuum your room for your entire stay! That was 13 days for us and we're not DVC members, we cash paid for cleaning every other day. They also don't change the sheets for the entire stay. We requested sheets and had to stop and make all 3 beds. In summary, take (1) Food (2) vacuum (3) things for hanging and drying clothes.

I absolutely love staying at Bay Lake Towers. I've stayed there 3 times now, with my most recent visit being last week. It's truly wonderful: it has large, beautifully, contemporarily, decorated & clean rooms with great views no matter where your room sits, extremely friendly and helpful cast members, an easy walk to the Magic Kingdom, and quick monorail ride to the ticket and transportation center to switch monorails to get to Epcot, and relatively quick bus rides to the other parks and Disney Springs. I simply cannot say enough good things about both Bay Lake and the Contemporary-- they are absolutely fantastic, and I will always recommend them to anyone who is planning a trip to Disney, as they both truly exemplify Disney magic at its finest.

Location, location, location! This is exactly what I think about when it comes to Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Being just a stone's throw from Cinderella Castle makes for a stay full of pixie dust and memories. Even if you're wanting to spend time at other Parks, you're just a short bus or monorail ride away. Thanks for sharing three magical visits with us. I can't wait to see what your fourth time brings! Addie Disney Social Reviews

We stayed at Bay Lake Tower in a standard view 1 bedroom room the first week of January for 7 days. We’re a family of 4, kids are 6 years and 6 months old. We’re not DVC members but rented from a company online. I was skeptical going in as we’ve always stayed at Disney Riverside or Wilderness Lodge resorts during our previous stays. Wilderness lodge being our favourite resort for years.

Bay Lake surpassed our expectations. Initial impressions were very good upon walking into the lobby and checking in. The hotel has a great feel. The grounds are pretty and well kept. Our one bedroom was extremely spacious and comfortable. Truly a home away from home. Our view from the 3rd floor was amazing. Standard does not describe it... We had beautiful view of the lake and also had an incredible view of the fireworks. Having the Magic Kingdom park a short walk away with dedicated security line was amazing. This hotel is very chill and relaxing. Any time we wanted a more lively experience we crossed the bridge over to the Contemporary. We had several meals, shopped and used the monorail from here. Incredibly convenient setup.

Really the only negative I could give is our room was a bit worn and the decor looks a little dated to my eye. I think a remodel of the room finishes would put this hotel over the top into perfection.

When we go back to Disney World we’ll be staying at Bay Lake Tower again.

We reserved a 1 bedroom villa, lake view for our recent trip to Disney World. We utilized on line check in and our room was ready at 1 PM, which was nice! When we arrived, re required a bellman to assist and he was great. Masks are required while on Disney property both indoors and outdoors (this took awhile to get used to). We were able to go directly to our room and used our Magic bands to unlock door.

Our villa was very clean and well stocked. The staff used enhanced cleaning techniques and it was evident. My only complaint, was our view was just a slice of the lake and most faced the other tower. I asked for a high floor, and only got the 8th floor. Since they were not at full capacity, I was hoping for an upgrade. This did not happen.

Our room was excellent. Two full bathrooms, with a jacuzzi tub in the master. The couch pulled out into a comfortable queen sleeper and the chair beside the TV pulled out into a nice twin sleeper. The kitchen was excellent and offers everything you need to cook a meal. All of the appliances were newer and in good working order. There is also a washer and dryer with small bottles of detergent (enough for 4 loads).

The beds were very comfortable and the amenities were nice. However, the room seemed a little dated and needs a refresh with some new technology. WIFI was adequate and the water pressure was great. The housekeepers here were excellent and made sure we had plenty of clean towels and toiletries.

The pool was excellent and my daughter enjoyed the slide. They also had a nice pool bar open for drinks.

This is a nice place for a family vacation.

I recently purchased DVC and was able to secure one night in a standard view studio, to avoid Disney buses and be able to walk to Magic Kingdom. Having grown up staying strictly at Monorail resorts (Poly and GF), I was excited to not only have my first experience as a member but try Contemporary for the first time as well. While the proximity to Magic Kingdom was great, the resort overall left a lot to be desired.

To start with some of the positives... I received a text at 7:30am that my room was ready, before I even boarded my flight to MCO (setting a record for earliest notification I’ve ever received). I was able to enter my room as soon as I arrived on property. I really liked the setup of the kitchenette as its own separate room, as it gave the room a little more of a luxe feeling. In my standard view room, I did have a prominent view of maintenance areas, but was also able to see Space Mountain and the Monorail very clearly, as well as bits of Cinderella’s Castle, Astro Orbiter, and Main Street’s train station. The walk to MK was about 10 minutes, and the walk to Contemporary was also straightforward. The DVC representatives were very friendly, as well as the dining and shopping cast members. Contempo Cafe was reasonably priced for half-decent food options.

Now onto the negatives… the room was definitely in need of an update. Though you can tell they were a higher-quality design in their prime, many things at this point are quite outdated. The technology situation in the room was subpar- the number of outlets is limited, and the TV is the smallest I’ve seen in a Disney guest room in recent years. Design aside, the room just seemed pretty beat. There were some electrical issues in the room (either switches not working, or dead lightbulbs), and it wasn’t well cleaned (crumbs, sand, etc.). When I pulled the extra blanket out of the closet and shook it out, there were tons of different stains all over it. The cast members in the BLT lobby were some of the least friendly I’ve encountered on Disney property. There wasn’t any acknowledgement or welcoming feeling, which was noticeable given how small the lobby was. When I first arrived, a cast member saw I had luggage and was quick to stop me and ask if I received confirmation my room was ready. When I said I had received my room number, it was returned with a snappy “Well, do you know where you’re going?”. Definitely not a “Welcome Home” feeling, or the best first impression of a resort.

Overall, this just wasn’t the resort for me. There were many times I found myself comparing BLT to various Hyatt properties. While the convenience to MK was a major perk, it was really the only redeeming quality. I wouldn’t fault BLT for the age of the rooms, as I know the rehab schedule is out of their control, but things like maintenance issues and cleanliness (especially during a pandemic) do reflect on the property.

Hello, and thank you so very much for stopping by to share this review and some wonderful photos of your room from your recent stay. We always appreciate feedback from our Guests, so I truly appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience. Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Disney Vacation Club family. It's wonderful you got some extra magic from the get-go by getting that early notification and being able to go straight to your room upon arrival! While I do believe being a Member is one of the most magical experiences ever, I'm so disheartened to know that your first stay at Walt Disney World Resort as a Member didn't quite match up to what you had hoped for. You're absolutely correct that the location of this Resort is truly ideal. Being able to get up in the morning and walk to Magic Kingdom Park truly can fill you with pixie dust. I'm so glad you got to have some of those amazing views of the park as well from your room. While I'm very happy our Disney Vacation Club Cast Members made you feel welcome and you enjoyed many of the incredible amenities of this hotel, I would like to apologize for your disappointment with the room and our onsite Cast Members. Disney Cast Members are always expected to uphold our high standards of Guest Service and I sincerely apologize this wasn't the case during your stay. Additionally, I completely understand as a Member how special it is to receive that "Welcome Home!' moment when you arrive and I'm so very sorry that didn't happen for you. In regard to the concerns in your room. I hope you were able to share these concerns with our Maintenance or Housekeeping Cast Members as they're always eager to jump in and correct those issues as quickly as they can so you can enjoy your room as much as possible. I would like to thank you again for taking the time to share this review. Rest assured, I will make sure that our Leaders receive this feedback so they can address some of these concerns internally to ensure we're providing the best Guest service that we can. My sincerest hope is that we will be able to provide you a much more magical visit next time. Jody Disney Social Reviews

I stayed at Bay Lake Tower from July 10th until July 14th. While staying there I took off my Pandora bracelet to go to the pool. When I was considering buying another charm on July 15th, one day later, I realized the bracelet was missing.

I do understand that is not Disney's fault that I lost my bracelet. I DO think their lost and found policy needs to be revised. I was not provided any updates about the search for my bracelet. I had to keep going to Bay Lake Tower to find out if there was any information. I visited the hotel two times after I checked out. The last time I went the front desk could not get the housekeeping manager on the phone.

I am so disappointed with this situation I am canceling my annual pass. I have been a Disney guest since 2015, and I am disgusted with how my situation was treated. I was NEVER permitted to re-enter the room even after the guests had checked out. Additionally, I was told that due to covid the rooms were to be vacant for 24 hours after each guest. This is not happening.

I cannot believe that a room that costs $800 does not include better service.

For me, the Disney magic is DONE!

We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa for 3 nights and it was amazing! The room was spacious, clean and beautiful, plus there were 2 full bathrooms and a full kitchen. The housekeeper did such a nice job of making my son’s bed each day, by laying out his Disney books and writing sweet notes. The proximity to Magic Kingdom and the walkway to the Contemporary can’t be beat. We want to use the awesome pool next time!

We have stayed at other Disney hotels but Bay Lake Tower at Contemporary is highly disappointing. At over $900 a night you should never have to ask why your room was not serviced and this is what happened to us on our third day. Our room was never serviced on this day, even after we called to verify service at 3:30 PM. The only excuse from the housekeeping manager was “we overlooked it”. It is inexcusable. This was the excuse given at 6:15 PM when we called back to again inquire about our room being serviced.

Our room was also not clean. There were eggshells on the floor by the stove (see picture). Highly disappointing. Most disgusting of all were the room service trays left out in the hall. They were the first thing to greet us when we left in the morning and were there when we came back at the end of the day. They were not picked up for days.

Also, at check in we were led astray about transportation for the Disney Princess Half Marathon. We were told to go to the convention center at Contemporary and pick up the bus, however runDisney did not provide bus transportation on the morning of the half marathon from the hotel. It was monorail service only. Fortunately for me, I verified transportation with RunDisney or I would have been steered in the wrong direction from the gentleman who checked us in. I’m so glad I didn’t trust him!

This was truly one of our most disappointing hotel stays at Disney, especially for a deluxe resort. Bay Lake Tower will forever be off of our list of hotels to stay at again while visiting Disney.

First and foremost, congratulations to those in your party who participated in our Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend! I am thrilled that you participated in this event, though I’m truly sorry for any unnecessary stress which was added to your morning due to misinformation. We strive to ensure all Cast Members have the most up-to-date information for our Guests to answer their questions accurately and efficiently, and it’s disappointing to hear this wasn’t your experience. Furthermore, your observations with the cleanliness of your room—as well as the hallways—is truly disappointing. I’m glad you spoke with a leader about your concern, though I sincerely apologize for your disappointment in how these concerns were addressed. It means so much when our Guests choose to stay at one of our Walt Disney World Resort hotels, and we want to make sure we’re always exceeding their expectations. I appreciate you taking the time to share your most recent experience, and I want to assure you that your comments have been shared with the appropriate teams. I certainly understand your hesitation in returning to Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but we look forward to welcoming you back to one of our other Resorts during your next visit. Overall, Bay Lake was a great place to stay. We stayed in a two bedroom. It was perfect that there was a twin bed in the living room chair and a queen in the couch! We had a view of the bay, which was really nice. We could view the fireworks at Epcot each night and had a good view of the electric light parade. I loved the washer and dryer and that detergent and a laundry basket were provided. It was very helpful because sometimes we needed more than one outfit a day due to the heat in Orlando. Another great feature was the swimsuit line in the shower. That was incredibly helpful for getting our suits dry. The toiletry brand was really nice and I greatly appreciated the larger size of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and bars of soap. Most places have such tiny ones that we have to pack our own. I loved the separated sink from the shower and toilet. The beds were very comfortable and we our room was cleaned about every other day, which we didn’t expect. It was a nice surprise. The convenience to the monorail was also very nice. If you are on the bridge to the contemporary, you can watch the MK fireworks, but you can also get a great view from the windows near the elevators. MK is also a short walk from Bay Lake, which is really nice too! The pool has a large water slide and a small one for younger kids. There is also a water play area, but it wasn’t open. Behind the pool is a small beach area with seating. The courtyard has foosball, shuffleboard, a pool table, giant connect 4 and giant chess.

The reason for the lower rating was due to the fact that there were a lot of leaks near the windows, which was very concerning. Every time it rained, water came in from the ceiling, especially at all of the windows where the elevators are at. The ceiling paint is literally bubbling out. That could be a lot of damage soon. The pool was also too warm to swim in. After a long 104° day at one of the parks, we looked forward to swimming and cooling off a little, but it felt like a really warm bath instead. I do appreciate the amount of lifeguards and someone manning the water slide, but it made sense why there were not that many people swimming in the pool. Maybe I missed it, but it would be nice to have a list prominently placed for places that would deliver food to the hotel for dinner. Sometimes, with the rain or just being exhausted we didn’t really want to have to try and go somewhere and it would have been nice to order in. Even checking online it was almost impossible to find a place we could order from. Again, I may have missed it, as I didn’t go through every drawer.

We stayed in a 3-bedroom villa on the 14th floor of Disney's Bay Tower Resort last Thursday and Friday night. We had both positive and negative experiences during out two nights. We are still trying to determine if the positives outweigh the negatives. We had a split stay for the week, so we sent two nights at Boardwalk Villas, three nights at Saratoga and thought we were saving the best for last staying in Bay Tower our last two nights. The first issue we had was our room was not ready at 4pm. We went to the pool and when I still had not heard back at 5:30pm I went to the front desk and they said they were waiting on maintenance to fix a light. I told the front desk we needed to get in the room to shower before our evening reservations. Christina at the front was very pleasant and arranged for the room to be released upon me agreeing not to get the light fixed during out visit. No big deal. She also offered us counter service dinner vouchers for the inconvenience and scored us a reservation at the California Grill (which we had to turn down because it was $89 a head because it was the 50th anniversary celebration, I don't mind spending $89 a head on adults, but not teens). When we finally got to our room we were memorized by the beautiful view of Magic Kingdom and couldn't wait to watch fireworks from our balcony the next night. The longer we spent in the villa the more we noticed how run down it looked. We overlooked it because of the view and distance to MK and the monorail. The one thing we had a problem overlooking was the 4 cockraoch's we killed in a 32-hour period. Two in the master bathroom, one in the downstairs guest bathroom and one on the master bedroom floor. It is hard to sleep knowing there are bugs crawling all around you. For the price of the villa and given this is a Disney property, we did not expect bugs to be present in our room, let alone killing 4 in a short time period. We told the front desk on our way out and the apologized. I tried to find the GM's email to inform them and cannot find it. I have yet to receive the survey they send out after a stay. So my question remains, is being able to walk to MK, take the monorail to Epcot and watch the fireworks from your balcony enough to stay in a run-down Disney property with a bug problem, I guess the choice is up to the individual.

Publix reflects a short drive away and can accommodate pickups and limited deliveries. Information available on Publix website. Publix represents a higher echelon grocery store, predominately in FL, with incredible fresh seafood, meat, produce, and deli (Boar's Head) departments. I shop there so obviously I highly recommend them. Amazon has announced they have increased their services to a greater number of Whole Foods. I believe Amazon Prime members can pickup their groceries for free if they spend more than $35 at Whole Foods (not really hard to do). Most resorts have a pantry located at their main area. The pantry has limited items available and cost remains reasonable with all things considered. Hope this helps! Have a magical time!
