After 8 hours on the road from Manila, we arrived at Paracale in Paliza del Rio for our less than 3 hours of sleep before we head to the port going to Calaguas. Locating this inn was not easy during the wee hours of the morning. The police station was unmanned but their lights were on and doors were open. We got directions from an old lady running a sari-sari store. She was actually uncertain if she gave us the right directions and we had to ask another guy just to make sure we are on the right track. Anyway, after going around town, we found the inn at last. It was 330AM and we were tired and sleepy. Checking in was quick, although they did not have my name on the reservation list, the lady asked me where I paid and who confirmed my booking (TIP: bring the original bank deposit slip as proof of payment). The parking space for 3 days 2 nights was very convenient and safe. You won't have to worry as their parking lot is located inside their compound and not the side streets. It cost us 300 pesos, payable on pick up day.
We only chose this inn as it was recommended by Waling Waling Eco Village. I assumed it was a good place to sleep judging from another blogger's raving experience. I also tried to look for other articles online but sadly, there weren't many. So, I went ahead and booked. I paid almost 1K pesos for a twin room but got a queen bed instead. Good thing I was with another girl or else it would be a major problem. The rate did not include breakfast, but it include a dirty bathroom and matress. So, if you are a stickler for cleanliness, pray that you are too tired to lodge a complaint, dead drunk, or have a bad vision. Or better yet, do not inspect how the matress looks like without the bed sheet. Just thank the gods that at least they have clean bedsheets for you to sleep on. And for the bathroom, I hope the owners do something to make it clean, presentable, and working! Aside from the dirty mirror, you need to use a pail with water to flush the toilet (so that's why they have a pail and tabo there!). Also, arriving guests can be noisy so goodbye to your goodnight sleep and rest. I cannot recommend this place to everyone for obvious reasons but if you are staying in Calaguas for a night or two and would like your vehicle to be safe, then choose Paliza. If you can find a place with good parking and clean rooms, shoot me an email and congratulations to you!
