We booked this resort because of the pictures and former reputation. We traveled 3 hours from Makati using Waze, ending up in a parking lot. It was 8pm. It was dark, and there were no signs to tell us we had reached our destination. We had to ask around. A guard came out and told us we were in the right place, and led us to where there was a barge that would take us to the island resort. It was a dreary reception, being nighttime. There was really no one trained or equipped to welcome us at that time. The room was on the third floor which was good to have a view, but no elevator. To climb the stairs was quite a task, and we are seniors, my wife and I. The door locks were old, manually opened with keys, and looked quite weak, so needed a double lock. The TV. had only a few channels, and the pictures were very grainy. We had two queensize beds in the room. They looked old because the base had drawers that would not close. We checked out buffet lunch next day, but were told we had to order one hour ahead of mealtimes if we wanted to join, and it was too late to do that, because a few other guests were already dining. We looked at the fare being served. They were ordinary. Yet they were priced as if they were special. We’re glad we didn’t order. We went around the place, found many spots in need of more detailed cleaning because of grime. Not up to hotel standards, even one-star hotels. But of course, it was advertised as a resort, and indeed, it offered many recreational facilities, but we didn’t test any of them — they’re not for seniors. We had planned to stay five days. We cut it short to three. The RCI certificate for the resort rates it as a “Gold Crown” property. I would not even rate it as bronze. RCI should do its own review to see if this property deserves the high classification it got before.

First time visiting this resort. The resort is divided into members and non-members living area. There's a dirt lot parking for visitors to park and a 3 minute boat ride to island. The pool areas are include with the resort but the rest of the attractions are fee as you go. The place is a bit outdated and needs some upgrades. At the members side, there's limited food/snacks available and delivered to your room or at the dining area and are reasonably priced. On the non-members side, meals are included. Room rates are based on per person/night. Just make sure to dispose of your food trash properly because there was a rat in our room which was able to get in through the window type AC unit. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

This place would've been better if everything is just maintained properly. Everything is old, creaky, dirty, and the staff aren't that much accommodating (or maybe because I'm just a local).

All their amenities and activities are just limited.
2 kayaks and 1 water bike is just available. Had to wait for an hour or so just for those activities.
Wave pool, the wall climbing activity is not even working.
Many other outdoor activities are just broken and unavailable and we just got tired of asking.

Had a hiccup with our packed dinner and it took them an hour to figure out that they've been sending the food in the wrong room. Had to go and check twice too.
And the food is just awful. The beef is just rubber. And the peas tastes bitter.
It just feels cheap.

Had to pay 40 pesos for the toothbrush/toothpaste because it's not toiletries is not included in the package. What kind of hotel room was that.

During our stay, another guest even got injured and had a swollen lip afterwards. I guess those waivers do come handy right? Be careful when trying their activities.

All in all, we had quite a fun stay but we'd rather spend it elsewhere.

We got fooled by the website and the videos on YouTube. There's a real uncanny situation going on and I'm not even sure if their trying to fix it.

My wife and I booked via RCI for seven days to stay at Caliyara Resort located in Lambun, Luzon, Philippines.
This establishment is primarily developed for Corporate/Business Team Building exercises and therefore our review is not based on this activity.
We delayed our registration by 2 days due to other reasons however on arrival at Caliyara Resort we were surprised and disappointed at what we found.
This review covers what is not advised by RCI or the resorts Website – especially focused on those who travel from overseas for a holiday.
• There are no Credit / Debit Card facilities in the resort – cash only
• Do not rely on any public transport to get around. There are no taxis. Best to have your own car on arrival and departure. The nearest township to get any food supplies is 20 mins away.
• For us as tourists the onsite restaurant is closed – it may open from Friday through to Sunday but no guarantees. You will need to bring all of your food you require for your stay to be comfortable.
• There are ‘small’ snacks you can buy onsite but they do not substitute for a full breakfast/lunch/dinner meal.
• There is no onsite grocery store as listed on the website – only vending machines. No alcohol can be purchased on site – also you will need to pay for any ice you require.
• There are no laundry on-site facilities that can be used by tourists.
• The room we had was adequate with a comfortable bed and ensuite however:
o It was described as a partial kitchen which did include a Microwave, Toaster Oven and Filter Coffee machine – no coffee filters supplied.
o No hot water available to wash any dishes in the kitchen
o No facility to heat any water – except the microwave - no electric kettle
o No cooking utensils were supplied – only cups, plates, spoon and forks.
Accordingly after two days on site we decided to leave this resort due to the lack of amenities you would expect for a named and Gold Rated RCI Resort. Generally the facilities (eg swimming and common areas) are very run down.

Booked the resort with another friend to celebrate our birthdays together with our mothers.. I was a bit worried that we will not be able to get the rooms as it was only a couple of days before our planned stay.. Good thing Jam, one of the staff assisted us and made the booking process as smooth as possible. All our inquiries regarding our rooms and travel guidelines were timely answered and we were always kept updated on the process.. Even at the day of the arrival, we were assisted the moment we arrived until we were settled in our rooms. Had a great weekend with all the activites both for the adventurous and for those who would just like to relax.. Memorable Birthday indeed!

very accommodating ang mga staff. pagdating pa lang sa parking area may sumalubong at nag assist na samin. pati pagdating sa area may nag entertain na din agad samin. maganda yung area makakapagrelax ka talaga. hndi lang namin ganun namaximize yung resort kasi sobrang maulan nung pumunta kami late na kasi namin nacheck yung weather nakapagpabook na kami. isa pa sa nagustuhan ko is before kmi magpunta dun nag inform sila thru text na magdala ng payong dahil maulan. if magpapabook kayo with free food, sulit dahil maraming servings. ang napansin ko lang, yung sa menu nila pang meryenda lang (pero masarap at mura)wlang chips at walang rice meal if ever na bigla kang mabitin. pero over all maganda. papabook ulit ako 😊

Overall, it was a fun experience. I would have loved it more if there were more free activities to enjoy, as the numerous microtransactions can detract from the experience.

We enjoyed a pleasant boat ride leading up to the resort, and the jeepney transfers were fun, though a bit time-consuming as we had to wait a long time to be picked up and taken to the venue.

The Standard Hotel Rooms were a bit old but very spacious, easily accommodating four people. The bathroom was excellent, which was a nice surprise.

The activity staff were very helpful and accommodating, which added to the overall positive experience.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights and we occupied two rooms in the Forbes Suites. It was an enjoyable experience as the place is very quiet. The rooms are spacious and clean. We also have a kitchen so we are able to cook our own food. We also ordered food and have it delivered to the room and it was delicious. The food prices are okay.
The kids also enjoyed the pools and the free activities like the mini zipline. They have also tried the floating playground but did not really liked it. I think its much suited to teens and adults specially that the available lifevests are adult sized and the pool is about 20 feet deep.
Over all we enjoyed our stay and will definitely come again

First, their van/service is too old na, not presentable sa guests. Second, mataas ang expectation namin sa rooms kasi maganda sa pictures, but in reality mukha ng luma especially the tv and aircon, luma na. When we inquire, the staff said sa loob lang dapat ng room ang pet, pero ang daming stray dogs sa labas ng room, nakatambay pa sa mismong labas ng room namin!
The hotel staffs are good and hospitable naman. But the facilities are not good. Hindi din ok ang food, not appetizing.

The place is so nature, really love it. Taking a banca to reach the resort was an experience. The facilities were enjoyed by our young people zipline, superslide, rapelling, swimming pool and the jeepney taking us from one place to another.

Can we bring or cook food ?
Answer from Ave Salvante Jr.
Laguna Province, Philippines375 contributions1,502 helpful vote
It depends.. If you have a timeshare with them. Timeshare members are allowed to bring and cook food there as the rooms in the Forbes Suites actually have kitchens complete with electric stove and utensils. Otherwise, you may be charged with a corkage fee. It is better to arrange it with them beforehand to avoid any hassle.

When we were there the food was just a basic buffet and while most would have probably been dairy and gluten free it was not labelled. y recommendation would be to talk to them beforehand to ensure that your dietary needs can be met.

P1,500 per head inclusive of accommodation, dinner, breakfast and lunch. This was the rate we got during our overnight stay last week. It may be the same but do check with the resort.
