A stay at the Andros Beach Club (ABC) is a vacation unlike any other you will experience. It is stepping into another time and in place. ABC is engulfed in a lush setting of tropical vegetation and virgin, sand covered beaches, aquamarine waters and warm breezes. As for the number of guests, is not a large centre - the word 'intimate' seems to fit, which suits me very well.
Mornings, you will step barefoot from your comfortable beach-house onto the warm sand, out to the immense strand where you will walk miles without encountering another soul. Noontime, you will swim, kayak or just sit in the shade with a good novel. Evenings, you may enoy a rum cocktail as you observe the setting sun from the beach-shelter.
The physical installations are timeless and fully integrated into the environment. The sand-garden is skillfully designed, using mostly indigenous succulents. The lodge, where meals are served, is a place of quiet evening consversation and collegiality. The lodge does not simulate authenticity - it defines it. It is reminisant of its origins - a 1930s Bone Fishing Camp - but with all the comforts and ammenities. Mealtime conversations with the founders/owners, and other guests, take you back into the rich island lore concerning its first inhabitants, its early settlers, and tales of more recent arrivals.
The ABC staff are exceptionally kind, generious and efficient. They are fully committed to ensuring your stay is as pleasureable and relaxed possible: whether it be by preparing and serving delicioius meals, ensuring your housekeeping needs are met or teaching you to snorkle or to scuba dive.
At ABC, time seems to streach out to infinity - each day is a jewel. It is a place for a deep dive, both literally and metaphorically. It is one of earth's unique microcosms. I cannot recommend it too highly.

Wow, where to begin. The Andros Beach Club is not an ordinary vacation. During your stay you will experience all that makes the Bahamas great. The club is tucked away on a private beach nestled between palm tees and wild Bahamian fora.

The back yard is made entirely of sand and so is every inch of the club’s grounds. At every entrance you will find a water basin to wash your feet before heading indoors because there truly isn’t a need for shoes when you are there. In fact the weather and property are so beautiful that the outdoors and indoors blend into one allowing guests to have as much beach as they would like 24 hours a day. However, if you are too warm, each suite is equipped with excellent electric air conditioning and the indoor/outdoor walls can be folded shut to keep you cool and comfortable inside your suite.

While visiting you will have the unique opportunity to mingle with the two onsite professional chefs, Maggie and Yvette. The two are a dynamic duo and absolute force of culinary excellence. They offer three meals a day including appetizers and desert. You will experience authentic Bahamian cuisine expertly prepares by these two women. The menu is constantly in flux and depends on what fish is caught by guests or friends that day. Maggie and Yvette take their ingredients from nature and weave them into truly incredible meals day after day. Additionally, their warm hearts make you feel like family from the moment you walk in the door.

Finally, during your stay you will undoubtedly mingle and befriend the warm and loving Leopoldo family. Jesse Leopold is the club’s owner/operator/dive master/spear fisher. If you ever need anything, he will be there to help you and make sure your stay is perfect. Jesse’s mother Roxanne, father Jonathon and two boys also live on the property and help Jesse make the Andros Beach Club a truly unique experience.

Weather you are reading on the beach, diving, going deeps sea fishing, or exploring anything else the Bahamas has to offer, you will be welcomed as one of the family at the Andros Beach Club. It is more than a vacation. It is paradise.

Our family is blessed by ability to take a few trips each year and this one is at the top of each of our lists as a best trip ever. The staff at the resort takes care of you from Pre-planning stages to booking to arrival to departure. Three awesome meals each day with the ability (and willingness) to cater to special dietary or picky appetites along with fresh caught fish sushi and authentic Bahamian cuisine created a culinary experience of fantastic food offerings we simply didn’t expect. Freshly made desserts each night were the capstone to feeling pampered in a boutique resort setting where you know that the employees really do care about your experience.

Jesse the owner was attentive to our needs before arrival requesting input on food selection, activity selections, alcohol preferences, and travel detail so that he could personally coordinate the most welcoming arrival experience possible. During our travel my wife wanted to take home a little piece of art to commemorate our vacation, and given the remoteness of the island with such a small population, there aren’t local art studios on each street corner! Jesse called Jerry up on the phone and took us to a super neat woodworking studio where Jerry (a character for YouTube no doubt) showed us his work and offered reasonable pricing on his woodwork art.

We booked many days on the boat as we love fishing (at least half the family does), but some of the days became a little windy for our liking. Jesse jumped into master planner mode and diverted boat trips to areas more protected from the wind and waves and in a very welcomed fashion morphed our anticipated excursion that would have made some of us queasy due to waves into a smooth riding eco tour of the island. We saw places that locals don’t even know exist that we joked looked like we were on Mars with beautiful clear salt water backgrounds. This is the beauty of Jesse being on the island nearly half his life! We learned about blue holes and historical ecological shifts that created landscape phenomena inhave never heard of, during a hike we were instructed what flora not to touch as it was poisonous and one minute later Jesse identified the natural antidote to that poisonous tree. Very cool stuff.

If you want to go to a city full of hustle and bustle this is not your spot. If unwinding in a very small and intimate environment with the most beautiful beach (we have ever seen in the world) as your backyard while enjoying awesome staff that truly cares about your experience while offering fantastic food to keep you nourished (and full), this is the spot I would recommend to you! This place is extremely unique and you cannot go wrong with a stay at Andros Beach Club. I promise.

Andros Beach Club is such a special place where you can feel completely relaxed and away from all the stress of everyday life. The beach is endless and you have it all to yourself!

As a marine conservationist and ocean lover I spend my visits scuba diving their coral nurseries. They have two coral nurseries one of which is in a blue hole! surrounded by beautiful reef teeming with life. During your stay you can visit the coral nurseries and learn how to assist in keeping them clean as well as plant your own coral from the nursery back onto the reef! It is so important we all help to preserve our precious coral reefs and Andros Beach Club allows you this great hands on experience so you can actually make a difference and know you are contributing to conserving coral reefs. If you are not a scuba diver then don't worry you can still snorkel the coral nursery at the blue hole. Jesse is a great diving instructor and boat captain so you are in safe hands while out on the water. Another great conservation effort you can do during your stay is to spear invasive Lionfish while freediving to help protect the local fish populations, full training on how to do this is provided.

The rooms are lovely and the food cooked by chef Maggie is divine. Jesse and his family are just the best hosts and make you feel so welcome. The resort is like a home away from home vibe and I just love the place!

What a great find! Our family of six chose Andros Beach Club for our annual two week vacation. We were not disappointed! The is a very charming, very “real“ destination! We spent most of our days out on the water snorkeling, fishing and exploring the reefs and blue holes. (Very clear water, lots of fish, turtles and reef life). Oscar, a local guide associated with the club accompanied us, at a very reasonable cost, on some of our outings. He is truly an outstanding person, very warm and genuine and very capable. We consider him a new friend.

Every afternoon following the day’s activity, we would relax, enjoy the huge, beautiful beach and play yard games on the manicured grounds between the beach and our house. Most nights we cooked ourselves but a few times we had Maggie, the clubs very talented Bahamian Chef. prepare special local dinners for us—all were outstanding.

We expected the bugs to be bad, as they are on most of the islands, but to our surprise, we never had to use any insect repellent.

The owner, Jesse, was not on the island during our visit, but we were in close communication with him. If we needed advice or help finding something or contacting someone that could help us, he was all over it.

My wife and I had a wonderful time on Andros from the moment our plane landed on the island. Some of the highlights:

*Communication and logistics were very smooth, starting from the booking all
along to dropping us off at the airport at the end of our trip.

*The location, including the room, the property and the beach, were exactly what we had been looking for. Quiet, remote, but the same time still equipped with everything you might need (the latter was actually quite impressing, given it is on a sparsely populated island).

*The activities! My wife being 4 months pregnant we didn't go crazy on adventure, but the diving trip we took with Jesse and the hiking trip exploring some of the inland blue holes with a lovely local guide were both amazing and they gave us a good glimpse into the tons of fun you can have at ABC. While lying on the beach all day long can be tempting , we strongly recommend trying as much of the action listed in the guide Jesse usually shares in advance of the trip as possible. We'll certainly try getting back there to do more of them!

*Last, but certainly not least, the people! Jesse was a very welcoming host, friendly and professional, with great knowledge of the island and the surrounding waters. The chefs, Maggie and Yvette, took very good care of us, every day they cooked something delicious, often from the daily catch. Feels like visiting your grandma, probably the best meals we ever got in an all inclusive offer. The guys helping out on the property were very polite and efficient too.

*On the very first day school closures were announced for the whole country due to the COVID situation, which meant that Jesse's boys had to stay home during the week. Even though it was completely unexpected and probably a major disruption to the daily routine, we did not notice any of that. In fact, it was only positive as we had a little bit more opportunity to meet them. Lovely kids!

All in all we can only recommend ABC, especially if someone is looking for a real local experience instead of a "bleached" big resort stay.

Jesse and his team have a beautiful little slice of paradise on South Andros Island. We rented the 3 bedroom beach house for 9 days over Xmas 2020 and spent the week diving, snorkeling, adventuring and fishing. Jesse (and his boys) were a daily source of information and entertainment, spending time with us and sharing their island. Due to some travel mishaps with COVID, my wife and I had to miss the first half of the week and left the place to our kids and their girlfriends. Jesse and his team took great care of them in our absence. The diving was fantastic, with Jesse a great dive mentor to the kids. Abundant, abundant sea life on the reefs we visited, with daily viewings of sharks, turtles and hundreds of different fish. The bone fishing was extraordinary, with us landing 27 fish over three boats in one day. Guides Jesse provided were excellent and a lot of fun. House is nice - it is an island, so if you are expecting everything to be clean, dry and bug free, you probably are not ready for island living. The team was outstanding, very friendly, daily conversations and phenomenal cooks. If you are looking for an outstanding place for a family vacation, look no further - this is the place.

I was invited to come on a spearfishing trip with some friends last minute so I had no idea what to expect upon arrival. We were greeted by friendly faces and escorted nearly straight to the boat moored a short wade from the beach. Within 20 mins we were diving on a vast stretch of the most pristine and beautiful reef system. Over the next few days Jessie, Steve, and Porter guided us to some great fish and helped us out all along the way. Each day upon return, we enjoyed fresh fish, tropical cocktails, and great conversation around the dinner table. The food was unbelievable and the ladies even prepared some freshly caught land crab (thanks Mason!) for us to try. The rooms were perfectly clean and well appointed. The grounds are covered in lush tropical landscape and the white sand beach which stretches as far as the eye can see is empty of any sign of other humans. This unexpected first trip was simply the perfect introduction to a new favorite vacation destination to which I hope to return sooner rather than later.

We loved our time at Andros Beach Club. Jesse, Porter & Mason, and Roxane & Jonathan are amazing hosts. Yvette and Maggie kept us well fed with delicious fresh seafood and homemade treats. They even made special dishes for our very picky 9 year old. We rode all the rides, and are so glad we did. Our 12 year old wanted to learn how to spear fish and had a master teacher in Jesse and his son, Porter. Jesse always made sure to have an adult fisherman in the water with the kids(much appreciated by this mom). We enjoyed bone fishing with some incredibly skilled and entertaining local guides. We also made the trip to the West Side National Park for some snorkeling and exploring. When fishing at the tongue of the ocean did not pan out, we were taken to do a little spearing and then reef fishing. On my daily walks on the beach I was joined by the resident dogs, Nala, Viper, and Nick. If you seek authentic experiences with local guides, then this is the place for you. The rooms and beds were very comfortable, the food was delicious and the hosts and staff were gracious. We will be back.

Our family just returned from a wonderful vacation at the ABC. We traveled with 3 generations of our family where there was something for everyone. The property is stunning and a serene place off the beaten path where families can relax and enjoy one another away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Our family of 7 were very comfortable and had plenty of room to spread out. The Leopold's are the perfect hosts, making you feel like family. The lovely staff take care of every need, from amazing meals to finding coconuts for our kids to try. We have multiple food allergies from celiac to severe peanut, all of which were well accomodated by the wonderful ladies preparing our food! The beaches with white sands and clear waters are beautiful and you feel as though you have the island all to yourself. Snorkeling with Jesse and experiencing the amazing reefs was the highlight for most of us. We hope to return some day Lord willing. Thank you again to the Leopold family and staff!

Hello. Sorry but I'm only seeing this message now. The weather is typically in the mid 70's to 80 during the day and the water temp is around 75-78 that time of year. Would you like to visit this year? We still have limited availability over New Year's.

Thank you for your inquiry. We have a 3 year old (end of this month) and 5 year old of our own and are very kid friendly. Our current guests have a 2 year old and this is their 5th stay with us. I took the parents out snorkeling a few hours ago and their daughter stayed with my wife and our younger son. We can also arrange for additional childcare options.
