Be Tulum Hotel is lauded for its pristine cleanliness and stunning location, with guests often impressed by the unique and luxurious rooms. Despite its beauty, some guests find the hotel overpriced and have encountered billing inconsistencies.
While the serene atmosphere and top-notch amenities like private villas and wellness activities receive praise, the beach club's music and occasional service lapses suggest areas for improvement. Overall, the hotel's staff garners mixed reviews, oscillating between attentive and unresponsive.

We stayed at Be Tulum for two nights to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and it was such an incredible experience. We were between Nomade (sister hotel right next door) and BeTulum, so we were expecting to splurge a bit. This has to be the best place I’ve ever stayed. The hotel has a jungle vibe while situated on the beachfront. We initially booked an arena suite with a plunge pool, but when we arrived, we were immediately upgraded to the Tierra suite which was such a nice surprise and so beautiful/romantic. The room was sparkling clean and and had a stone soaking tub, indoor open shower, king bed, closet w/ robes, fridge, safe, iron and hair dryer. I was expecting to encounter an insect or lizard given how open it is and in the jungle, but surprised that we never did! The entire staff was so friendly and welcoming. Everyone was wearing masks and there was sanitizer in every area. Our server, Emmanuel was fantastic! The first day we arrived we hung out at the beach club and Emmanuel brought out a bucket of beers on ice and came out each time to open one when we asked. He had excellent service, so we also bought a bottle of wine from him to be delivered to our room before leaving to make sure that he would get the commission for it. The next day we also requested him during breakfast and we gave him a generous tip for his outstanding service! The room we were in was ground level and a few steps from the beach so during late night, we could unfortunately hear other guests who were being loud leaving and entering, but it didn’t phase us too much. Our pool wasn’t on one day and they immediately sent out someone to fix it right away (didn’t catch his name). The hotel also burned this amazing scent (copal?) every single night and the smell was so relaxing. The walkways to the hotel are a little confusing and I admittedly got lost often because the areas all look very similar. We mostly hung out at the beach club or our pool but the main public pool is so pretty and picturesque. The only food we had apart from breakfast was the Baja fish tacos and they were delicious! The only con I had was this hotel is really far from the main strip of beach restaurants and required we take a cab (cost about 200-250 pesos each time which got a little pricey at night). I would highly recommend staying here though since it is truly a unique experience and environment!

Me and My girlfriend stayed at BeTulum for 3 days for her 30th Birthday. This place was amazing and had arguably the best beach in Tulum just a few steps away from our room. Needless to say there were a few misteps from making this place a 10/10.
Pros:
The hotel is immaculate, the rooms are spacious with pools in the Tierra Suites and above (which is what we stayed in). they had a nice big bathtub outdoors for fun late night activities and the decor of the rooms was right out of a pinterest post. All rooms have AC which was much needed as it was extremely hot outside the whole trip. Everything was clean and toiletries were all included as well.
The restaurant and Beach club: The food here was amazing i would highly recommend the lobster off of the open style fire grill and for cocktails the Sr Romero. the restaurant has both an outdoor area to eat at but also a covered area if it rains. its a great location right on the beach with great views
The Beach - The beach was amazing the sitting areas for hoptel guests was great with full beds and couches to sit and sunbathe on. the beach is handpicked of seaweed every morning so you get a beautiful white-sand beach with crystal clear water
The Staff - The staff was very accommodating the whole time so much so they were taking a few things before i was done which is good and bad lol.
Cons
EXPENSIVE 600 a night for good rooms
Cocktails lack alcohol hard to get a buzz
slow service sometimes
overall this place is great 8.5/10

The Be Tulum hotel is breathtaking. The beach club has to be the prettiest in all of Mexico with a massive white sand beach and gorgeous clean water without rocks.
The food & drinks are great quality and the staff has a very calming energy.
My only bad comment would be that we paid for our room on Expedia (arena suite) and the ad on Expedia features a large outdoor pool for this type of suite. Which was THE main reason we paid extra to have this suite instead of the Garden Suite.
But when we got to the hotel, there was no pool. The staff told us that with the Arena suites, its a flip of the coin kind of thing to see if youll have a pool or not as half the arena suites have a copper bath in the room and no pool, or a pool with no bath,
But I have a bath at home and couldnt careless about having a copper bath.
So we had to pay 300$ Canadian extra per night to be moved to an upgrade suite with a pool. It was a bit of a bummer and we wish they wouldve understand that the advertising is confusing and that they wouldve sent us to the upgrade room without a fee. especially in pandemic days when they need to fill up rooms.
Overall a good weekend stay

While the property itself is beautiful and well maintained, we found the service to be lacking.
Upon check in, we had the highest expectations. We were greeted by a friendly host who helped us park, offered us complimentary drinks to take to our room, and insisted a bellhop take our luggage to our room for us. Unfortunately the rest of the trip did not match this initial level of service.
When brought to our room, we were not told the wifi info (we only found out there was room specific wifi the following evening when we had to unexpectedly change rooms due to an unexpected guest), we were not given an explanation of the room, room service capabilities, and amenities at the hotel. We decided to have dinner that night at the hotel and unfortunately the lobster in one dish was inedible. We were told if we had ordered the whole lobster it would have been better quality, but the lobster in the dish we ordered was always like this (hard and rubbery like a hockey puck).
The following evening we came home to find a raccoon had made its way into our thatched ceiling and had to have security come remove the animal. After some discussion about different room levels, we were allowed to be moved to an upgraded room but only to sleep that evening since the animal had burrowed into a home directly above the bed and we did not feel comfortable sleeping in the room until the roof/ceiling had been attended to in the daylight. We were informed there was not an available room in "our level" available for the rest of our stay so we'd have to leave the room as soon as possible the next morning.
Drinks and food at the beach were challenging to order and towels were nothing more than a unicorn, good luck finding one in that jungle. On a positive note, housekeeping was excellent with their attention to the suite, turn downs, and towels in the rooms were prolific. 4 clean towels at any moment in the day. Once our air conditioner was reset (it stopped working after the first night) our room was comfortable and cool for the remainder of the stay.
Upon our return to the US, I was informed by my friend that she paid for a bottle of wine to be left in the room upon arrival to the hotel. Unfortunately, that bottle never made it to us. Just another example of the attention to detail that was missing at this beautiful resort.
We had the highest expectations upon our arrival - first real vacation in over 2 years, and unfortunately the service fell short.

Dear Evanmeeker, Thank you very much for taking the time and sharing your experience at Be Tulum. For us, this feedback is very important because it allows us to review with the different area managers the procedures and the way in which our staff handles the situations that may arise with our guests. I have shared your review with the area managers involved in the situations that arose during your stay so that they can take action and check that all the staff know how to react. I apologize for the lack of information when giving you the room. This is really very important so that all our guests can fully enjoy all the amenities we have to offer. Once again an apology and we hope to have the opportunity to have you back soon. Kind Regards, Annemarie Rauch Operations Manager Be Tulum

Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles and drinks! Our room was not ready until check in time unfortunately, and once we were shown our room we found that it was not going to be the right fit for us (close to the loud restaurant and not private). They offered us an upgrade and a discounted rate which we accepted (all in all we paid nearly $10k for 6 nights). The bummer of our room was the jets in the private pool kept turning off dispite us constantly asking them to leave them on, and the vanity mirror did not work (the rooms are very dark so this made getting ready for a night out very difficult). The staff was very accommodating and always happy to see us. The food was great (we preferred the beach restaurant over the other one which felt more “foodie”, and the drinks were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the beach each day and our quiet mornings with a extensive complementary breakfast. After walking up and down the beach and main strip in Tulum it was obvious we were staying at one of the nicest hotels there. We felt safe the entire time! Would highly recommend checking out the spa, we went 3 times! All in all a beautiful hotel and we would highly recommend if you are going to Tulum!!!

Be Tulum was the perfect place for our honeymoon. The entire property was magical. We felt secluded from the outside world, but we could experience the beauty of both the jungle and ocean. Alejandra was our concierge for our stay, and she was extremely helpful. We coordinated our day excursions and spa services with her, as well as asked her various questions throughout our stay – she was very kind and responsive to all of our questions.
The food and beverages at both restaurants – Ocumare (Michelin star) and Maresias – were excellent. Everything is fresh and health conscious, so I didn’t feel bad eating the delicious octopus tacos for lunch every day. The service at both restaurants was great – attentive, quick and friendly. The margaritas were so fresh and delicious that I even asked them for the recipe so I can recreate them at home.
We enjoyed waking up every morning to the sounds of nature and walking down to the beautiful beach for breakfast, followed by some lounging on the beach under one of the many cabanas. The pools surrounding the beach property were a welcome refresher after spending time in the sun. The staff was extremely attentive and frequently checked in at the cabanas and by the pool to offer us food & drinks.
Our room was awesome (a jungle suite) – plenty of space, hot water, and air conditioning, which can be hard to find in Tulum but was much needed on the hot days. Our bed was so plush and comfortable, and the bathroom was huge with two sinks and a walk-in shower with 2 shower heads.
The spa was also excellent – we got the Garden of Yaan treatment and my skin has never felt better. It was a nice way for my wife and I to relax together and enjoy our honeymoon so I would highly recommend getting at least one of the services during your stay. You also get access to the healing water circuit at the spa which is a must!
We will definitely be back soon, and we cannot wait to see all of the staff who made our honeymoon so enjoyable.

Possibly the worst hotel exp in the world. We arrived and were shown to our suite with a rooftop pool costing a substantial sum. No effort was made by anyone to explain the hotel, breakfast etc.. The room and roof top pool was tired, dilapidated and water damaged. Also, there was pounding house music from the beach bar that every single room category near the beach had to put up with with many people complaining. The most un relaxing place ive ever been.. The restaurant was doing building work so was drilling the ceiling during breakfast, and no free water at breakfast, you have to pay for it then they put a 15% service charge on the water! Making 1 bottle cost 350 pesos. Madness. Also the service was awful food arriving at different times, nothing together, we took a group of friends for lunch and it was a 3 hour shambles of cold food arriving at the wrong times. The first night, the roof top pool motor was so loud we couldnt sleep so we called reception, and they said sorry the timer is broken we will come and turn it off, 45 mins later they did, next day, had to call to turn it back on, next night, same again, had to call to turn it off... Also there is zero covered outside space for when it rains so you have to hide in your room listening to pounding house music from the beach, which has people doing drugs on it anyway so it horrible.. We had also booked this as a holiday to do Yoga on as the website advertised x2 classes, 1 morning, 1 evening. The evening classes did not exist and they admitted they ended them last year and hadn't updated the website, their solution was that they had another yoga class in the hotel next door that starts straight after their morning one, rendering it useless as you cant do 2 back to back and still there was no evening class. Cancelled no doubt due to the pounding music on the beach that would have made it impossible to do anyway. This hotel is all style over substance, looks pretty but is terribly run, a rip off, and is falling apart at the seams when you look closely. All the wood is water damaged, all the rooms are tired. We complained and asked to end our stay to go elsewhere so we can relax not be kept awake by music and pool motors, and they refused to refund us a single penny! We left as it was so horrible and they kept 4800 euros of our money, and the tax!! without a single apology, in fact, no one apologised for anything as they simply dont care. This place is broken, a terrible scar on the beach of Tulum, run by US private equity chaps who clearly do not care one hoot if you have had a bad experience, and if you have and you ask for a refund they rob you blind and dont give you a penny back.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My wife and I booked two nights at Be Tulum for December 2020.
Eleven days before our scheduled departure I discovered that my passport was missing. I contacted the hotel to see if we could push our reservation back to allow time for obtaining a new passport (due to COVID, it is taking longer than normal to obtain passports, and it is almost impossible to get an appointment at a Passport Agency on short notice – I have been trying desperately without success).
Be Tulum initially said that they could move the reservation from 12/19 to 12/28, but later said 12/25 was the best they could do. Unfortunately, neither date gives me enough time to replace my passport, and my wife does not want to travel alone. The hotel refuses to move our reservation to sometime next year.
I fully understand that my booking was “non-refundable” and the hotel is not necessarily obligated to do anything. I had hoped they would say something like “If we are able to re-book your room, we will allow you to change dates” or offer a partial credit towards a future stay. Instead, the hotel is just keeping our $1,500.
This would have been the most expensive hotel my wife and I have every stayed in, by far, so we are disappointed in the outcome on multiple levels.
Before booking, I saw that others have found this hotel to be inflexible and difficult to contact, and I am kicking myself for ignoring these reviews. After responding to my initial communication, Be Tulum has stopped communicating. I do not even know if we are booked on our original dates or the new date (not that I’m likely to be able to travel on 12/25).
I’ve done a bunch of budget travel in my lifetime and I’ve been fortunate to experience a great deal of hospitality and flexibility. I do not know if I’m surprised or not surprised that a higher end hotel like Be Tulum lacks these qualities.

We stayed at Be Tulum for 2 nights in the Arena Suite and the other 2 nights at Azulik. First and foremost we regretted staying at Azulik and wished we spent our whole time at Be Tulum. We didn't use our private plunge pool at all, we just preferred to lounge by the beach instead. Next time we will most likely downsize in room but Be Tulum is nothing but AMAZING! The hotel is beautiful and the service is impeccable! The staff is very attentive and prompt. The staff always went above and beyond to provide exceptional service. The only issue we encountered was that there was a big bug crawling on our floor one night and we immediately called the front desk and they sent over housekeeping to clean it up, and at midnight!! We weren't mad at all, Tulum is literally a jungle and if anyone thinks there won't be any bugs anywhere then they really need to go elsewhere. We felt bad that the lady was working and cleaning that late, but it just goes to show that they really do have staff ready to serve at any time. Breakfast was delicious every morning and the beach is very clean with no seaweed in sight. Be Tulum will always have a special place in my heart. We will definitely be coming back!

It’s a very nice environment aesthetically and the food is good quality. But it is simply way too over priced for the level of service and even the quality of the rooms. For a 1000 usd a night you don’t expect to run out of water or not have hot water. What’s more is when you complain to reception and ask to speak to the manager you get no reply just more attitude. No real genuine service or apology for what others paying 1/10th the price down the road are getting. My friends are showered and going to dinner on time but I’m still waiting for water and for manager to call back.
Furthermore the attitude here is simply thievery. Upon check in after the full amount is already prepaid and they have your credit card details in any case, they still want to to take extra daily minimum amount of pre authorisation. They say if you spend more than the preauthorisation then you would need to top it up so best to put on more from the get go. Never seen this before. Are we in a luxury hotel or some cheap cruise line voucher system? Avoid! There are better places in the world to pay 1000 usd a night for and still get hot water and service! Plus the rooms are crap. One wonders - Have they not been to Asia?
