With free time in between Christmas and New Year, we decided to go up Tagaytay (again.. We already stayed 2 nights a few weeks ago). However our Go To hotel was not available so this gave us the opportunity to try Splendido Hotel.

PROS:

1. Location was great with lots of green spaces. Plus a gorgeous lake view on one side and a deep valley with golf course on the other side.

2. Huge pool but mostly cold. This facility was free but other areas of the country club eg bowling alley, court etc has minimal fees but give hotel guests numerous activities to do.

3. Basic room amenities were complete.

4. Bathroom had a bathtub.

COULD BE IMPROVED:

1. Wifi was weak in our room and lobby. Please check your routers.

2. Room and bathroom were on the small side. Specially the bathroom. Maybe the Queen bed room has more space?

3. Around 8:30am, we were woken by the loud noise of grass cutter. The hotel maintenance guy was trimming in front of the hotel so there goes our slumber. Maybe this can be scheduled during non peak days?

Overall, despite short of splendid, we still had a surprisingly good stay. The hotel's limited staff namely Roma, JC, Fe and Joel were all out in answering queries, delivering our requests. In fact, we came back for Splendido's New Year Eve's Countdown dinner since we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for 2 nights, 3 days. Our room was not cleaned on the 2nd day, when I asked why it was not cleaned, I was told that they don’t clean rooms unless you make a request. This is the 1st hotel I encountered with this policy which was not even mentioned to me upon check-in. I was really angry because it felt like it’s the customer’s mistake that rooms were not cleaned.

Breakfast buffet was… meh. So few choices, no juice, only coffee and water. Food taste bland also.

Great view though from your room, rooms were decent, pretty small for usual Philippine Hotel rooms. Electric kettle in the room does not automatically turn off when the water is boiling, so you have to take note of that.

Guards were friendly and help you with your luggages when you get in the hotel.

You need also to bring or drive a car because the hotel is not walking distance from downtown area.

Wifi inside the room is poor. Better bring your own internet or wifi device.

The hotel seems to have no staff, 1 lady on reception and 1 security guard. On arrival was asked to complete paper forms and re-write information that had already been provided and they had on printed forms for me to sign. Just no thought or intelligence applied to the check-in or out process.

No bar, no restaurant, no services at all. I arrived at 7pm and asked where I could get food. Was told that the restuarant at their club closed at 6pm so I could only order food online for delivery.

At one point my friend suggested we meet in the only space available for guests, the lobby, for a chat over a glass of wine (he brought the wine and glasses). Upon sitting down we were immediately told that no drinks were allowed in the lobby. A lobby that is very large and completely without any people (other than the 1 security guard). Asking where we should sit, meet and enjoy our wine we were told there was nowhere else and we could only drink the wine in our rooms.

In addition the "Unlimited use of Wifi" is complete BS as there is no wifi signal in the rooms. Only in the lobby. The same lobby where you cannot sit and enjoy a drink.

When comparing this hotel to others in the Philippines it is not cheap. They charge a premium and provide nothing except a bed. Suggest that you avoid this hotel completely unless all you want to do is go into a room, sleep and then leave.

The room was very clean and the overall vibe was relaxing but disappointed with the service. We did not have a car with us, and we just rode a trike to the hotel. We were advised that the trike was not allowed to get inside the premise. The guard said that we have to walk but my friend insisted on the shuttle service because it's like a 15 min downhill walk and we have our luggage with us. The guard did not even call/ radioed the hotel admin for the shuttle service, we have to do it ourselves. Also, the wifi signal is weak, it only works in the bathroom. Next, we were not advised right away that the restaurant's last order was like around 6pm. They advised us to have a food delivery instead but we need to go outside to buy some stuff as well so we did not opted for food delivery. The thing is the shuttle service operates until 6pm only. So we have to walk back and forth on the steep hill with no street lights on.
It is not very commuter friendly hotel I must say.

We were excited to check in since we got a good deal thru agoda for 2 bedrooms. However, we encountered multiple problems durinf our stay.

1. The first room given to us had a broken AC unit and it was flooding the room already, i even slipped luckily i was able to keep my balance 😂

2. There were only 2 bowling lanes at the country club the rest of the 6 are under maintenance. We made a reservation already thru hotel however upon asking the reception at the family building, they said that there was no endorsement from hotel. We had to wait another 1 hour to play bowling. 😔

3. Prior to arrival, i checked if all amenities and restaurant accept debit cards and they responded yes it wont be a problem. But when we went to sports building, they mentioned that they cannot accept card payments because the terminal was at the family building they werent willing to bring the terminal down so we can pay and instead, i had to climb stairs before reaching the family bldg then walk down back just to play badminton. It was very inconvenient.

5. We requested extension but going back up the hotel after 12, toom key wasnt working and they did not advise we needed to return it at the front desk and get a new one.

4. Lastly, I got stuck in the elevator. No one in the security nor reception new that the elevator malfunctioned and someone was in there for quite a time already. Good thing my family was outside waiting for me so i was able to ask for help. We comolained and reception said that it did not appear on their elevator system in a tone that it’s our fault that it did not appear there.

The hotel looks creepy and i felt that we were the only guests on the floor. The room is spacious and clean. The food is very expensive and they do not have comp breakfast. We ordered from room service that is on a take away bag :( i was craving for frappuccino but the staff said that the barrista was absent haha she was very honest for a 4 star hotel. Most item on the menu are not available. Will not come back anyway and will not recommend to friends.

We got a big room with 2 queen size beds and a balcony overlooking the mountain which was great. However, fixtures in our restroom were quite old and needed a replacement, esp the bidet. The free breakfast was supposedly plated/sit down, we were told that to upgrade it to a buffet we need to add 150 pesos/pax, and so we did. The staff were all courteous and welcoming. Overall, our stay for a night was good. Satisfied client here.

We stayed here for my brother’s wedding at the beginning of the year. It is the worst ever! The toilets are leaking, the towels are filthy and needs to be bleached. Bad lighting in the bathroom. The bathtub had soap scum it would come off when I ran my foot on it. The bed is a little damp due to humidity. The whole apartment needed some airing out as it had a certain smell. The rooms were not serviced as well. We werent even offered to move rooms after reporting that we couldnt use one of the bathrooms.

We had LBM the foods sucks. My baby vomitted 6 times already as of writing. Worst experience. I requested for a bottle of water this morning, they gave me a pitcher of water like what? You’re not allowed to request for a bottle of water.

Picture below is the cake that caused food poison to my son.
