My wife and I went for a short break (5 nights). I should have paid more attention to the description of the rooms.. I chose a room for us with balcony overlooking the pool, thinking it would also offer a view of the splendid church that dominates the Millieha skyline. Wrong pool! The view was over the pool within the enclosed quadrangle of the hotel and afforded us a view of other balconies with the same of us. Pleasant enough in the darkness of the night but during the day, we could se the interior walls needed a lick of new paint.

Staff were excellent from the moment we arrived to our departure. The room itself was a good size, with an adequate en suite shower. Despite our best efforts, the floor mat got a good soaking every time we had a shower - the glass panel could do with being a bit longer.

Breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of choices to suit every palate. We were staying on a half board basis, and whilst the evening meals also offered a decent choice, the 'hot' dishes were invariably no more than luke warm. The heated serving dishes weren't efficient. The restaurant was always busy and quite noisy. The staff coped admirably.

Weather wasn't great and it was raining on our arrival. We went to the much lauded cave bar for a drink and bite to eat. Nice little bar and the offerings were tasty and well priced. However, the setting didn't stop the infiltration of rainwater into the dining area.

There was no bar/lounge inside the hotel where one could sit and relax, although there were seating options in the reception area and in lobbies on our floor - presumably this is the same for all then floors, of which there are 7. Unusual lay out from my experience with hotels inasmuch as there are 4 lifts, but they don't all go to all the floors. The hotel provides a helpful plan of the layout and we didn't have any problems getting around. We didn't use the inside pool/sauna facility. On our initial visit, it was busy and any loungers not being used were 'reserved' with towels. That was enough to put us off to be honest.

The hotel is well placed for the local buses, and it's not far to the ferry port to get to Gozo. It's abut 75minutes on the bus to Valetta. We enjoyed our break overall, andI would rate it as 'good', but that option isn't available.

Wow, where do we start, we have stayed at this welcoming Hotel for many years now and all staff in the various areas of work never fail to please, nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay comfortable and memorable for all the right reasons.

The people on reception are pleasant, polite, respectful and extremely helpful at all times. No matter who is on duty you are greeted warmly with smiles and full on attention. Attention to customer care is of an exceptional standard. Ekaterina is simply fabulous (a Manager in the making I hope one day), and her colleagues. Rouselle and Esther are also shining stars but these are just a few to mention as everyone is so lovely and accommodating.

Our apartment and bedrooms were kept spotlessly clean each day by a team who are equally cheerful and efficient in their work.

Staff in the cosy Cave Bar are attentive and though they can get rushed off their feet during ‘Happy Hour’ will do their best to meet your needs as soon as possible, they can make a mean cocktail too.

We are always grateful to Pierre Agius, Rooms Division Manager for sharing his invaluable local knowledge. He is the ultimate professional who is concerned for guest relations, high standards, customer care and hospitality development.

The Pergola is in a great location, set back from the main road running through Mellieha but close enough to easily access local buses and to get to the Bus Station and the Ferry Port making exploring the Island and Gozo very easy. The Hotel is in easy walking distance to many Restaurants, Bars, Eateries and Convenience Stores and the Hotel itself has good food opportunities to consider.

In short The Pergola is our ‘go to’ in Malta. We love it and would recommend it to anyone. We were there in April this year and are heading back there again in May. We know we are guaranteed to enjoy our stay once more thanks to an incredible staff team who will work hard to make our stay there feel special.

The Pergola Hotel and spa was a delightful little hideaway set on the side of the hill.

The cave bar at night was beautiful over looking the parish church of Mellieha, the lights made it look so picturesque.

The spa was a lovely little setting however it would have been more peaceful without children after a day of exploring. We had to leave on 30 minutes in. This was the only indoor pool in the hotel which meant kids would naturally want to go in as it was cold in the outdoor pools.

The room was a self catering room we were given directly behind reception. Given we requested a quiet room because we are both light sleepers we were far from impressed. The noise from 6:30am until late morning meant little to no sleep. Needless to say we were not happy because we were only there for two nights we decided against asking to move. Mixed in by the fact that the luggage store (with an annoying alarm, kept going off because people hadn’t closed the door) and the thoroughfare from the two lifts leading to the ground floor. There seemed to be a slight lack of information about the hotel. It would have been really handy to know that lift ‘B’ from the lower level brought you up to floor 6 which meant you avoided the steps. The only thing to note is that you need your room key to enter the building.

I would not recommend the shuttle bus €14 per person, there and back. We only got three hours there which was not enough! It felt like we spent more time on the bus than exploring. The shuttle bus I formation was on reception which is how we happened upon it. What the receptionist didn’t tell us is that the bus drives to Mdina first and then Vallerta. I have to say those were two of the worst bus rides of my life, so dangerous, speeding and flinging the bus over speed bumps and round corners. Awful!
We would recommend the public buses, so frequent and bolt (taxi service) €23 one way but it means you don’t have to be confined to times. The driver bringing us back was the worst, he seemed as though he was doing personal errands on our run and purposely dropped us off at the bottom of the hill after driving past the top. This is how we happened upon the lift to level 6.

We booked via booking for a week from 24 April to 1 May for 3 "adults". I would like to point out that the site offered a studio apartment with sea view and we opted for this solution. Upon our arrival, without a word of Italian spoken by the receptionists, we look for the room which we find after about a quarter of an hour. 2 single beds pushed together (it should be the double) and an attached camp bed (with a very uncomfortable mattress into which a featherweight sinks). In this way one of us three would have had to bypass one of the other two... focusing on the "room"... the second day after returning from the visit to Valletta, the room was neither clean nor arranged... therefore, I go down to reception to report the mix-up and, very kindly, the receptionist apologizes and arranges for the room to be redone. Ok... cleanliness really doesn't exist, dust everywhere, very low quality towels and sheets, as well as sheets and pillows, taking a shower, only half closed by glass, floods the tiny bathroom with the risk of put a knee on it and the offered mat is not enough as, by clogging the drain, the water flowed into the toilet. This time too the lady at the reception, very kind, ensured we had more towels and shower mats.
From the small balcony overlooking one of the 2 outdoor swimming pools you can enjoy a wonderful view but be careful! 2 tables were positioned a few meters away, therefore, non-existent privacy and, consequently, blackout curtains always drawn... we're not there yet!
Disappointed by the services offered by this 4 star... if it weren't for the view of the outdoor pools, the sauna and the bar, we would like to say that the location is magnificent, but it is not correct to offer a triple room for 3 adults, a solution that would be small even for 2... with images that are not exactly realistic and, certainly, we would have opted for another accommodation. The buffet dinner offering is varied, but the service is quite slow and the drinks almost always arrive halfway through dinner.
Nothing to say about breakfast.
The hotel, if it were not for the external services, cannot be compared to a 4 star. As already mentioned, the kindness of the receptionists must be underlined.

The hotel didn't meet our expectations. The staff were fantastic and the room was good, but the facilities really let the hotel down. The balcony was far too small, you could hardly move on it. The towels supplied to the room were too small, frayed an so thin I almost put my finger through them. I'd hate to think how old they were, certainly not what you;d expect in a hotel. Although there were 3 pools, one was inside, no good for a summer break, another was very small and was in the shade most of the day. The infinity pool overlooked a building site, and any views of the sea would be very limited. The cave bar was scruffy and there were no views from it other than onto the infinity pool. The sunbeds here were crammed together and there were very few tables and no room for sun umbrellas. The restaurant for breakfast was small and uninviting. Some of the tables had paper wedges under the feet to stop them rocking and a the view from the window was straight onto another building. The food itself was uninspiring and not of great quality, which put us off eating there for dinner. The layout of the hotel was confusing, and it was easy to get lost. Access to the restaurant via the lifts meant long walks or changing lifts, no good for anyone with mobility issues. The public areas were very warm, didn't seem to have adequate air conditioning, especially in the reception area. On the day we departed the whole outside pool area was closed after 1600 for a wedding reception. This is totally unacceptable, people who pay to use the hotel should not be barred from using the facilities, if the hotel wishes to do weddings then they should have a separate area for this. An alternative bar was provided, but this was inside an area surrounded by glass, unacceptable if you wish to sunbathe in the late afternoon. Thankfully we were leaving, but they were testing out the PA and disco for the reception. Totally unacceptable for a holiday hotel. People go to relax, not have to put up with a party they have paid for but cannot participate in.

Living in Mellieha normali I go out from Mellieha for a weekend break but this time I decided to try pergola hotel ...

I booked a luxury studio appointment. And I can say I love it ....

The girls at the reception are very very nice and helpful especially the Asian girl (sorry I didn't get her name).

Kitchen:
kitchen in the apartment was equipped with everything microwave, big fridge ,cooker and even a toaster.

Sleeping side :
TV in the room was quite big size to the room and clear channels available. Bed was clean white sheets and quilts still closed from laundry and soft towels are provided even extra to our needs.

Pools and spa:

Pools are a bit small but there is more then 1 pool The spa at Pergola is a true sanctuary. From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of calm and relaxation. The facilities are top-notch, including a variety of treatment rooms, saunas and even the gym is available on site.

Dinner and Breakfast:

The dining options at the hotel are superb. The on-site restaurants offer a wide variety of dishes, from local specialties to international cuisine. Live music available at the Cave bar at the hotel and Every meal I had was delicious, well-presented, and made with fresh ingredients.

The breakfast buffet was a particular highlight, with an extensive selection of fruits, pastries, and hot dishes. The staff were attentive and made sure all dietary preferences were catered to.

Overall, Pergola hotel provides an outstanding experience , combining luxury and comfort with exceptional service. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to relax and unwind in a beautiful setting. I will definitely be returning soon and even in September for the feast to enjoy the fireworks from the balcony..

Thank you for your service regards Eleanor Richard...

Great location
Reception staff are friendly & helpful
Rooms are clean - but layout could be better (bathroom door hits the toilet every time it’s opened, space could have been better utilised in the room) Air conditioning was good
Breakfast was repetitive and staff in the restaurant at breakfast were not the best
The lifts were frustratingly slow - and due to the layout of the hotel, for us had to be used.

Did not use the pool areas as no sun beds available and only used the bar once as difficult to get a table

We had a really good holiday and despite not using the majority of the hotel facilities due to how busy they were, the location meant we could explore the local offerings and enjoy great food & drink in the resort

We have just arrived back home from a 10 day family holiday at the Pergola. We came last year as we really enjoyed our experience there and were not let down this year. All the staff were very accommodating once more and even managed to change our room for us due to the fact we had small children with a particularly high balcony.

A special mention must go to the bar staff who are so polite and work so hard, Oliver does a great Ice Latte and Pina Colada during happy hour. The milkshakes were also lovely and very popular with the kids. The other two bar staff were great too and very friendly. We had a ground floor sea view apartment which was lovely, clean and well maintained.

Facilities wise, we enjoyed being by the infinity pool and the slightly quieter 2nd pool on the reception floor was equally pleasant.

Food wise we were spoilt for choice and met all of our needs, once again the staff running the restaurant were excellent and on nights when our children didn't want to choose anything from the buffet they were given an option of child friendly meals to pick from which was great.

We bought a weekly pass for 20 euros per adult and 7 for under 10s which is well worth it for days out otherwise you pay 2.50 per person for a single trip.

In conclusion, we fully recommend you stay at the Pergola and we will hopefully be back again next year.

We booked the Pergola based on the reviews we had read and it's location, as Mellieha had been recommended to us.
Our room, 7002, had fantastic views tom the bay and the sea, as well as the church. We sat out there many evenings just to soak up the sight and the atmosphere.
We had booked on a bed and breakfast basis only, but decided to pay when we arrived for evening meals on 5 of the 7 nights that we stayed.
Restaurant staff are very thorough with clearing tables. Food choices were adequate, although we regretted paying for 5 evening meals as the choice of food became very similar most evenings. Breakfast also needed replenishing, particularly on one morning when the only cereal available was cornflakes.
Although our room was serviced daily, on three occasions it was a very basic clean, and at one point three days worth of bath towels had been left in our room. Cleaning seems to get later each day and was sometimes after 5pm, which did not help if you wanted to rest in the afternoon. I am guessing this is because of staff shortages, as seems to be the issue in more and more places.
There is one person that I really want to say a big thank you to, and that is Rouselle on reception. She always greets you with a big smile and speaks every time that she sees you. She is easily one of the most pleasant and efficient receptionists that I have ever seen, and is ready with an answer to any questions that you have. Thank you Rouselle.

Since we arrived at the Pergola Hotel we were extremely welcomed.
Rouselle, the receptionist, was so friendly, kind and mainly patient with us and all ours doubts. Also helped us to choose the best excursions to the others islands. We got very thankful.

About the room, it was very comfortable with kitchen utilities.
We enjoyed a lot spending time at night drinking some wine while enjoyed the Mediterranean brease (an amazing vibe).

The hotel is perfect, very well located, with many restaurants around for all kind of travelers. There are 3 swimming pools in the hotel and all are very clean. It has a big restaurant and also a bar beside the outdoor pool, an amazing place to stay and see the day goes out.
A good thing is that the hotel has a lot of discounts and promos you can enjoy anywhere, both in restaurant services and outside the restaurant.

The spa also deserves a word.
I had one of the best experiences I have had in a Spa. As a masseur, I'm used to receive massages but nothing like what I had here. I also was very welcomed by Onidia, she explained everything about the massages I would like and helped us to get the best experience. She also showed us the spa and the amazing products they use, impossible don't enjoy the spa services.
We chose hydrobath massage with a glass of proseco (we highly recommend, mainly for couples - so relaxing and romantic) and
the Enchanted Aromas Getaway spa experience. The massage room was prepered for both of us and the masseurs (Melrose and Katherine) was very gently and made the massages in the pressure that we asked.

Beyond all of these, we felt so happy cause the hotel is very gay friendly. In our room they had the care to leave the spa folder personalized with a gay couple and we, as a woman couple, felt very well with.

The only thing I would say could be better is leave a recycled trash bin in the rooms.

Once again, thanks a lot for the amazing experience.

Dear Guests, Thank you for considering us for your future stay! In the case where a Studio is occupied by 3 persons, two people would be sleeping on beds, whereas the 3rd person would settle either on a sofa-bed or an extra bed. Let us know how we can be of ulterior assistance. Best Regards, Pierre Pergola Hotel & Spa
