The Maritim Antonine Hotel & Spa has won the hearts of many with its spotless rooms and sophisticated ambiance, complemented by a professional and welcoming service team. While its prime location near shops and restaurants is a standout feature, guests have called out the noise levels as a potential downside. The hotel's amenities, including varied pools and a sumptuous breakfast, consistently receive high marks, and the overall value is deemed excellent, with affordable spa services and transportation options. However, some travelers suggest that room noise and descriptions could be improved.

Had a fabulous two weeks B&B at the lovely Maritim Antonine in Mellieha. Lovely clean and smart hotel with art installations in the foyer and smartly dressed welcoming professional staff behind reception. All the staff were very attentive and obliging throughout the hotel.

On mooching around the hotel we noticed the rooms do appear to vary in size, location and facilities somewhat. We were very happy with ours in the block across the road (don’t let that put you off) with a superb view that faced the church and the sea. Plenty of toiletries provided, plus tea/coffee replenished daily. We had politely asked ahead if there would be the possibility of a high floor room, preferably with a bath - and that’s exactly what we got - so thank you to the team, it was much appreciated.

All the areas of the hotel are tastefully furnished and decorated throughout with lovely touches of sophistication here and there that make the hotel feel rather superior to your generic resort hotel.

We feel they may have 'missed a trick' though as we asked how much it would be to have the evening buffet meal only to be told they only offer half board for the large travelling groups. Our Jet 2 didn’t offer it as an option. We did, however, eat several times at their own Al Ponte restaurant attached to the hotel, but eating out every night got a little expensive over the fortnight.

We had superb weather for mid to end November and enjoyed the rather hilly walks… yes, we did manage the hill back up from the coast at age 68 and 71! I had a swim occasionally in the small but warm indoor pool… no stinting on heating bills there - it was like swimming in a bath. Other people were still braving the cold rooftop pool but it was too chilly for me.

As others have stated the buses stop outside the hotel and are frequent and plentiful so you can get about cheaply and easily if you wish. Overall we’ve had a lovely holiday and would definitely recommend the hotel without hesitation.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff for looking after us (especially our lovely Mariya in housekeeping) they are all an asset to the company. It was such a pleasure to be treated in the manner you would expect as a paying guest instead of the nonchalant attitude that, unfortunately, you quite often encounter these days. Well done team Maritim Antonine.

Wow! What a wonderful hotel! We stayed here the last week of October 2024 for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The staff are excellent, helpful and so friendly and really made our stay special. They made our room beautiful with Balloons and petals, an anniversary cake plate and card from all the staff, it really was lovely. The hotel is in Mellieha, we paid for bed and breakfast and that was great with plenty of choice for everyone. The rooms are spacious and has all that you need and very clean. They have a restaurant and I think 3 pools, roof top pool especially lovely with plenty of sunbeds. Definitely use the rooftop bar for food and drink as the views are exceptional. We travelled around Malta in Ubers which were quite cheap and you can get from one side of Malta to the other in around 40 minutes. We felt the hotel was in a great location with plenty of shops and restaurants on your doorstep and bus services run just 1 minute from the hotel and are quite frequent. The bay is around 15 minutes walk downhill but would suggest getting a bus back to the hotel unless your fit as its all uphill coming back! Beautiful restaurants at the bay also.
The hotel has a luggage store if needed and cocktail bar by reception which is also a lovely way to chill in the evening as they have a piano player there keeping everyone entertained. Our room had a balcony over the main road through the town which could be a bit noisy but this didn't annoy us at all as mostly out sightseeing most of the day and it's quieter in the evenings. I would highly recommend this hotel, you won't be disappointed at all especially as the staff are fantastic!!

When we arrived at the hotel, the check in process was slick.
We found our room which appeared to be well serviced and very clean.
The breakfast area was large and clean with a garden area to enable you to eat al fresco if you would like. The choices of food for breakfast was vast and nicely presented with attentive staff refilling food stations quickly. They were very responsive to requests.
There were 3 pools to choose from, two outside and one indoors, however, they were all very deep , 1.8 metres with no shallow areas. This proved a little difficult for me as I'm not a confident swimmer and I could not touch the bottom of the pool.
Although our room was clean and serviced daily by staff, it was very noisy! The room was situated under the adjoining restaurant where furniture etc was being moved around up until midnight! They also had deliveries at 5 am! Once out on our balcony, we were overlooked by the street above and again there was a huge noise from the ventilation system!
We did complain twice about the noise but it seemed to fall on deaf ears and no-one was even apologetic about, let alone offer another room!
This did intrude on our rest and we were thankful that we were able to get out to explore the surrounding area and find some solitude.
I think more could have been done to help us find somewhere a bit quieter considering the other reviews where staff have been so helpful.
This was the only thing that spoilt our holiday !

First the good stuff: the rooftop swimming pool is nice. That's where it ends though...

We had ordered a Deluxe Suite with a garden/pool view (1159,20e/14.-21.10.2023) and had requested for a peaceful room which the hotel promised to fulfill. What we eventually got when we arrived was room number 345, which faces towards the street and is in the next floor after the restaurant. Goes without saying that this wasn't the deluxe suite we had payed for. This, however, wasn't addressed by the staff in any way, all we heard was: "Enjoy your holiday!"

Way too much of our holiday was eaten by negotiations with the hotel staff and changing between different rooms, none of which were the suite we had payed for. Two nights before leaving we could have maybe got the suite, but we didn't want to try changing the room for the third time during the same week. In addition we were told by one of the staff members in the beginning of our holiday that the suite doesn't exist so we didn't really trust in them in that point anymore,

We were told two nights before leaving that we could maybe get one night refunded but even that was left open and we haven't received anything. The things this hotel calls apologizing are a couple of bottles of water and a plate of fruits. Of course they did also try to compensate things with a bottle of some alcohol but we don't drink any. Also I don't considered that any more valid of an apology.

The hotel has responded the review my husband wrote on Booking.com and only continued the long list of lies. They are telling things that they supposedly did refund even though we still haven't got a single penny.

Also, if you happen to be gluten free I suggest you to take your own bread with you. I received my bread in the first breakfast but the following ones I was left eating my own bread,

Remember to also bring (A LOT) of your own towels with you so when the bathroom overflows you have something to clean it with. You can't rely on the staff to clean the room daily, even if you put the "please clean" button on (I suppose this is what the button was MADE for).

In conclusion, to all the people considering visiting this hotel, you have been warned. If you really want to visit this hotel, your best bet is choosing the cheapest room. This covers you somewhat, as you have less money to lose.

Dear Guest Of course we are deeply saddened that your stay with us was marred by the incident you describe, as you can see this is not the feed back we normally receive although it is with the upmost respect that for the sake of other members we are able to relay the fact in a fair context. We concur that there was an issue upon arrival , however as a result the management intervened with acknowledgement and sincerest apologies. Thereafter doing their utmost to resolve the issue as quickly as possible . As a result the following morning , we offered not one but two of the correct room type ie deluxe suite with garden/ sea view , one of which incorporated a full sea view the most sought after view and room location , the second with the garden and side sea view. Despite your portrayal these were in fact the correct room type reserved . It transpired that your main concern was that you were still able to see the distant road traffic and did not envisage the area to be so central. The above being said the duty manager duly attempted to show you a collection of room types available in order to resolve the matter to your liking , With this in mind we respectfully submit that is was your personal choice to accept a room with an internal location despite this not being that booked. In addition ,when on the second morning a suite with garden view but the furthest away from the village vicinity, our primary thought was to contact you. Unfortunately our efforts , including contacting your agent for assistance, met with what appears deliberate avoidance when the phone call was abruptly rejected , the letter not acknowledged and the personal interaction with our guest relations team being dismissed. In conclusion and as previously specified, we had in fact acknowledged the error of the first evening of 14th and duly informed your agent that we would indeed reimburse for our error, which is not highlighted within your communique . There after on 15th you were offered the correct room type and on 16th additional efforts were made on your behalf, which were unfortunately declined With this in mind we feel your portrayal of our unwillingness to help is somewhat a little unjust , it is our company policy to address any concerns as quickly and efficiently as possible to ensure the wellbeing of our esteemed guests and we feel we did our utmost to honor the said policy However we do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again to restore your confidence in the Maritime Antonine Hotel. Kind regards Libby Punshon Guest Relations Department

Well we're to start. Me and my brother stayed at here for 7 days and it didn't start off great at arriving at the check-in desk we were a told our room was not available due to technical problems. We were the informed we would be put in a temporary room for the night and we would get our final room around 12 o'clock the next day. The room we were given was okay no balcony just railings and looking out onto light shaft not very inspiring but hey ho it was only for one night. The next day at 12 we went to reception to change rooms and to our surprise we were given the penthouse suite with his own swimming pool and a hot tub. Definitely a bonus
The hotel itself is a little bit confusing as it is split over to buildings and you need to use a tunnel to get from one to the other the rooms are all very clean and tidy the hotel staff are very accommodating. We were booked in on a bed and breakfast bases and the breakfast was very good the hotels location is near the top of the hill with a few shops and restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you're going to Malta and once a nice relaxing time

Salini has always prepared the bed very neat and beautiful. Payed attention to the little things, such as placing our own little pillows nicely or putting the utensils in the bathroom nicely again. And she was very friendly, always asked how you are and always wished a nice day and gave tips on where to go shopping. We were always happy when we came back to the room and saw that she was there:)

We stayed here in mid March 2024 and from the first moment of arriving, were made to feel welcome and at home.

The staff were friendly, and a special shout-out to the reception staff, who are so often the main point of contact.

The hotel is situated in a central part of Mellieha, but yet was very peaceful. There are several good restaurants within a few minutes walk, plus a few convenience shops which stay open til late.

We stayed in a Junior Suite which had two comfy twin beds, a clean and modern en-suite, a sofa, chair and balcony overlooking the pool & garden. Our room was cleaned daily, beds made, and toiletries topped up. There was a free of charge safe in the room which was an unexpected bonus, as well as a small fridge which was useful for water & snacks.
One thing for improvement would be that the hanging space in the wardrobe does not allow for many long clothes

We stayed on a Bed & Breakfast basis, and as many others have mentioned, both the choice and quality were excellent. Cooked breakfast, cold cheeses and meats, local delicacies, pancakes, cereals, fresh fruit, toast, pastries and even some peach spritzer which was a lovely touch.... Honestly, you'd be struggling to think of anything else!

The gardens around the pool were picturesque, and we enjoyed eating our breakfast outside on several mornings, even in March. The views from the rooftop pool were awesome!

Can't comment on the evening buffet as we didn't have that, but the Pizza restaurant on site was fantastic! Again, friendly staff, a great menu, and a good wine list including some local wines available at very reasonable prices.

The lobby and cocktail bar were lovely as well. There was entertainment 3 nights during the week. 2 of these were good pianists, the 3rd was a bit livelier, louder, and seemed a bit incongruous with the rest of the hotel.

We had a lovely spa treatment at an extremely competitive price, and used the indoor pool and jacuzzi.

One suggestion would be to have 'Do not Disturb' signs or similar on the doors, as it seemed that sometimes the housekeepers could enter without any warning, or after a brief knock.

Overall we had an absolutely amazing stay, and this is definitely a place to return!

An amazing amazing place. When we arrived we were surprised to be told we had been upgraded from our original room for no extra cost.

The facilities are everything you could ask for - outside pool and bar area, inside heated pool, roof top pool, gym and their own restaurants and bar across the street.

The staff are friendly, efficient and do their best to make guests feel welcome and cater to their needs efficiently and professionally. Special thanks to Angelo who we developed a good relationship with in particular.

The breakfast buffet is incredible. Everything is there - fruit, cold meat, cheese, cooked food, cereal and sweet treats. All individually labeled.

Was also nice that the customer relations manager came down to breakfast to talk to guests to find out how they were doing and taking the trouble to find out about them.

Rooms were always meticulously cleaned and tidied with coffee and creamer being replaced daily.

We would love to come back!

Staff: Brilliant and Accommodating

Room/Accomodation: Clean, Spacious, has got necessary amenities.

Maintenance and housekeeping staff responded quickly to queries/issues.

Restaurant: both restaurants within the hotel are clean and the restaurant staff provided excellent customer service.

Breakfast buffet: good selection of breakfast items but sadly got repetitive after our long stay. Perhaps a varied menu on rotation might solve this. Decaf coffee was available but not decaf English/Breakfast tea when I enquired.

Pool: Indoor pool was heated but highly chlorinated for my liking. I didn't try the outdoor pools.

Location: located near bus stops which is a big help if people do not want to hire a car and want to use the buses to explore the island. Close to shops, bars & some restaurants (Tip: go all the way up to Mellieha Church, there are other restaurants up there). Try and visit Our Lady Shrine which is close to the hotel.

It took approx over 1.5 hours by bus to Valleta. We used bus No. 41 or 42 to go to Valletta. It also stops in Mosta where other buses are available to connect to other areas.

The 7 consecutive day bus pass was great for hop on/off. Unfortunately, if Drifters Stationers (located near Maritim) is closed then we didn't know where we can purchase another bus pass. There are ticket machines in Valletta & Rabat but we didn't find any in Mellieha.

Hotel : The hotel reception, lobby, restaurants, facilities, garden and indoor pool area were all very clean during our stay.

In my opinion, the doors leading to the balcony perhaps needs updating to doors that are more sound proof as the traffic noise can be disturbing.
Overall, because of staff service & friendliness, I would gladly recommend Maritim to others.

Thank you to all the staff at Maritim Antonim. Special mention to David Leeming, Libby, Mohammed, Michelle, Dorina, Erika, Martina, Vish, Shanka, Graziela. Thanks for making our stay memorable and special. Hope to see you all on our next visit.

Lovely clean hotel, reception area was stunning. Greeted by the lovely Viktoria, given a room upgrade on arrival, very helpful, friendly staff. Spacious room, very soft mattress but ok for a few nights stay. Balcony with view of pool and sea.
Food at the restaurant was hot, tasteful and decent size portions, very nice staff.
Bar across the road, attached to hotel, nice chill spot, friendly staff.
Very good location, bus stop just outside hotel takes you to the ferry crossing one way and to the other main towns the other way. Bus fare was a couple of euros for ticket that lasted a few hours.
Some historical sites within a few minutes walking distance, church and Mellieha shelters really interesting visits (take cash for entry), very knowledgeable and helpful volunteers. Lovely traditional village setting, quiet break but lots of places to eat, Gems do a lovely breakfast choice. Will return at a different time of year to do the ferry / Gozo and explore some of the other areas.
