Nestled in a prime location, Corinthia St George's Bay garners praise for its proximity to beaches and the city's entertainment, complemented by beautiful views. While the hotel's staff receive accolades for their exceptional service, guests have called out the rooms for being spacious but dated, with some maintenance concerns.
The cleanliness of the hotel is consistently commended, as are the varied pool facilities and breakfast offerings. However, opinions on the atmosphere and executive lounge are mixed, and some travelers feel that the hotel doesn't fully deliver on its five-star promise in terms of value for money.

Detailed Reviews
This harbourside hotel offers a warm and friendly welcome in the spacious reception area. Our room on the fourth floor, while simply furnished, was as hoped and had a spectacular view over the hotel swimming pools, the harbour and beyond.
The beds were very comfortable, there was fresh fruit on arrival and the mini bar was well stocked. Room service for extras was prompt. The bathroom was well supplied with towels and bathing accessories. The balcony was w great place to take breakfast in the morning sun. Every day the cleaning service was efficient and thorough. The one thing that often was forgotten was the replacement of the breakfast menu card for the following morning. There was some doubt about the efficiency of the aircon which we reported for attention after our stay as we did not find it necessary during this month. A squeaking bathroom door hinge was immediately solved.
On this fourth floor there is access to an Executive lounge where breakfast, lunch and beverages can be taken as part of this booking. The range of food was limited (compared to the main restaurant) but wholly adequate. We both felt the hotel offered very good value with every single member of staff being friendly, willing and helpful without exception.
I write about the restaurant Fra Martino elsewhere.

We went for New Year’s Eve. We arrived at 7 am and the hotel staff were so kind to let us check in without an additional charge. We had a room with a beautiful view of the sunrise over the sea. We also booked our New Year’s Eve dinner with the hotel in the main restaurant. We ordered dinner from hotel in our room one night and didn’t like the raviloi at all- so eating in one of the hotel restraints is probably a better option. The location is nice because it’s so close to so many restaurants and the hotel already has a few restaurants in its premises. Service was nice and they offered us a free ride to Valetta in their shuttle bus. The sauna spa were nice as well. Overall it was a positive experience.

Lovely Hotel and staff, nothing was too much trouble, visited all of the restaurants whilst we were there. No problem with sunbeds. This Hotel is a good mixture with elegance and charm and great facilities. Our room was superb on the fourth floor overlooking the bay, and every evening when we got back to the room they had carried out a turndown service with chocolates on the sheets.
Some people moan about the service in the breakfast restaurant being slow and having to queue up, but come on these are covid times, these things can be expected!
There is a lovely little mini-market a short walk from the front of the Hotel, or you can walk down the hill to lots of shops, bars and restaurants in the main town.
There are always taxi's outside the front of the Hotel.
Hotel was very clean and very covid safe. We stayed half board, in a executive room, and enjoyed the whole experience.

Our stay at the Corinthia was disappointing, frustrating and inconvenient. One afternoon, I went to the room and found a stranger working in our bathroom without reception asking me before hand, thus disabling us from having use of our room for the day. We could not use the room all eve/night as the smell of sealant burnt our throat. The Manager's solution was to go wash in the Spa public bathrooms & offering to move room next day & not even refunded that night's stay despite my complaining! While we booked a family room with sea view we got no upgrade as we booked via Expedia whilst my sister who booked a basic room for 4 people was upgraded to an executive room executive lounge as she booked directly! We received no welcome cookie for the kids, no complimentary wine or room upgrade. Expedia themselves got in touch and nothing came out of it. The hotel should not be promoted as 5*. The lifts are slow and most days out of service. There is no pillow menu. The cleaner repeatedly took our pillows or duvet covers & I had to chase for an extra duvet for hours (from 1pm to 11pm). The mattress is all springs jutting out. The furniture & doors are old & dilapidated. I had the misfortune to touch some furniture and got black polish all over my swimsuit and sarong. (I reported this to the manager and he didnt even offer to launder them for me.) The balcony outdoor furniture is never cleaned. The breakfast is very limited and most days had no salter butter or no watermelon.

Most disappointed with our stay at this supposedly 5 star hotel. The gardens and pool areas are what may bring you to this hotel but, the service and quality of the rooms would not endure you to return. Read the review in the UK Daily Telegraph which will describe the rooms as FUSTY. I´d agree with that, upon entering we found a strong smell of fustiness and refused the room. We were moved to another room on another floor which did not smell so strongly thanks to the excellent concierge, the front desk were not at all helpful without the assistance of this man we would have checked out without staying a single night. The restaurants on site were mainly closed, the other ones 3, which were open are managed by a company that has no connection to the hotel. They are all over priced and service in all that we attended was hap hazard and in one, pretentious. The only hotel operated one was by the pool in the open, of an evening and a café at lunchtime with very expensive café style plates available again over inflated prices including, €5 for a 750ml bottle of water. Water in Malta is a rip off apart from in supermarkets, which shows you just how much these hotels are ripping off their guests. The front desk upon arrival said no upgrade available, as the hotel is completely full, yet the restaurants were closed anyone on half board were given a voucher with an allowance to spend at the pool bar and a very disappointing hotel. We’d never return and wouldn’t recommend anyone visit until they carryout the renovations, as you´ll find the management keep saying is scheduled for two years’ time. We found it impossible to find an on duty manager at any time in this hotel, we were constantly informed the general manager is at another one of our hotels and is not available and his deputy is away on holidays. Very frustrating hotel, do not book this hotel if you want a nice fresh smelling room.

We had a very pleasant stay but there are areas for improvement. Overall some refurbishment is required to bring the hotel up to standard such as enhancing the showers in the rooms. Some other areas like cracked finks need replacement. Overall the staff were great but the staff serving drinks outside at breakfast need training. They couldn’t fulfil simple requests like two pots of tea or milk for the tea.

Returned yesterday after a 5 night stay at this hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Staff are friendly. Breakfast was poor and lacked finesse. All the fruit is in huge chunks that you need a knife and fork to eat. I am not sure how long the hot food selection was sat there as it was all stone cold. The fried eggs were grey and overcooked. Nothing is made to order. Omelette was inedible. Very disappointing that for 3 days we didn't go for breakfast. Our room was 209 and found it very noisy. This was from the staffing entering the staff service area door opposite to our room. We were awoken at 9am on Sunday morning by housekeeping to service our room. You cannot get room service or a drink in the bar after 11pm. 2 small bottles of water supplied in room for first night only - after that buy from a shop or pay the hotel price. However, you can get a beer from reception after this time. No charges can be made to the room at all. The hairdryer in the bedroom is not fit for purpose. The hotel is a 15 minute walk down the hill to the town. This is not a 5* hotel and not one we will be returning to.

This is our first visit to a Corinthia hotel and it hasn’t disappointed. The staff are
friendly, helpful and professional and it’s conveniently located. The Spa is well run by George and his team, I highly recommend Marco if you’re in need of a good massage! The food is excellent with plenty of choice. Let the hotel arrange a car to collect you from the airport, it’s well worth it and will get your stay off to a great start. Our room could benefit from a little upgrading as it looked a little tired however, the facilities were good and clean. Room service kept up topped up with tea, coffee, water, fresh towels and toiletries. Definitely consider staying at this hotel if you’re in Malta.

Upon arrival in Malta at our original hotel (The Marina at Corinthia which is next door to this hotel) we were advised that our reservation had been cancelled as the hotel was being used as a Covid quarantine hotel (this is the subject of a current complaint with our travel provider as we were not advised of this even though the Marina had been used exclusively for Covid prior to our booking!), but this annoying issue was tempered by the fact that we were "upgraded" to the five star Corinthia less than 100 mt away. The annoyance wasn't tempered for long. According to the Corinthia website this hotel was fully refurbished in 2006. Not a lot appears to have been done since, and whilst it may have achieved the status of 5 stars sixteen years ago, it does not reach that level in 2021. To be fair the majority of staff were extremely good (apart from the breakfast staff who appeared to be studying for a qualification in ignoring guests) and the choice of restaurants (the Sussurus restaurant was excellent) was good to meet a variety of guests needs. The location was not bad, the choice of amenities was okay (nice indoor pool and spa) but everything was tired, dated and mostly grubby. The room we were "upgraded" to had a commanding view of the car park, had no sun on the balcony at any time of day and needed the lights on at all times. The bathroom was more 2 star level and needed a new door and mirrors due to water damage. The reality of the room is markedly different compared to photos on the hotel website. I have read multiple reviews of this hotel on various forums and this is not new information (sadly we did not know as we never even booked this hotel!) and the hotel management state that they will make improvements in the "coming years". Personally I won't be returning as the resort was not what I expected but if you are considering staying here, either wait until the next refurbishment is finished or put up with a 2 star (3 star at best) experience from an infrastructure point of view at a 5 star price.

Good hotel.
Breakfast has a lot of debates on previous reviews. It is ok but impacted by how busy the hotel is - when busy the food is replaced a lot more regularly, when not busy the food can sit out for a long time making it inedible. Buffet breakfast has hot food - sausages, bacon, fried eggs, mushrooms, scrambled egg, boiled egg, omelette (awful), fried tomatoes. Fruit is very simple - grapes, prunes, tinned peaches, tinned fruit salad, tinned pineapple chunks, yoghurt with muesli. Hams and salami with various cheeses. Pancakes, bread, muffins, walnut cake. Fruit juices, hot drinks from machine, bread for toast.
Rooms are spacious and decent. Not a ton of storage for a family but decent for a couple of people. Two tiny bottles of water per room per day, not really enough but there are quite a few shops nearby to buy larger bottles and a decent fridge to keep them in. Shower is decent, toiletries provided are good, room refreshed daily with new toiletries as required.
Restaurants we didn’t try many preferring to go out walking. Short walk to St. George’s bay with a few restaurants, under 1 mile to st Juliens with lots more restaurants but not a good walk with young kids as the pavements aw terribly uneven and very narrow.
Pools are Cool and fresh water. Plentiful sun loungers and lots of terraces down to water so you can stay away from others if you want. Towels not so easy to find for pool and not always staff around to source them, they could do with better signage on how to find the towels. Drinks by the pool stupidly expensive so better to buy your own in shops and store in your fridge.
A good hotel but not true 5* in my opinion.
