The Mercure St. Julian's Malta garners praise for its comprehensive amenities, such as the commendable rooms with impressive showers, a rooftop pool boasting breathtaking views, and a varied breakfast selection. Nestled in a prime spot, it offers easy access to bus routes and local hotspots, although the bustle of construction is occasionally noticeable. While guests laud the staff for their courteousness and diligence, service can sometimes miss the mark. The hotel is recognized for its value, with convenient transport links and reasonable room rates, though some guests mention the cost of beverages can be steep. The rooftop pool area is a highlight, contributing to the hotel's vibrant atmosphere, and cleanliness is consistently applauded across the board.

I visited this hotel from 23rd-28th September, the hotel is located close to the bay and takes around 20 mins in a taxi from the airport. We were placed in a room with no balcony but this was my own fault as I booked through booking.com, we asked to move and were offered to change rooms the following day at 10€ extra per night, we were happy with this and were notified by 11am the next day that our room was ready. Breakfast service was great, the staff served our food due to Covid restrictions but I was happy with this, I think it minimises waste. Fresh fruit and pancakes were lovely. They have English breakfast available, the beans were cold one day but nothing else to mention. Our room was cleaned every day and all staff were pleasant and accommodating. We would definitely book here again, location and environment were ideal for us. There’s also a shop right next door so we were able to pop out and grab snacks and drinks to put in the mini fridge. Roof top pool was lovely and calm, I’m not sure if the hotel is adult only but it was so quiet and calm, definitely a nice place to relax. The pool opening hours are 10-10 but guests (including myself) were able to go up earlier. If you are looking to sun bathe keep this in mind as most beds were reserved by 10. The hotel was also quiet in the night, no loud noises outside or guests. Thank you to all the lovely staff for making our first holiday post pandemic so lovely and stress free.

A wonderful week in Malta made even better by our stay in The Mercure.

The privilege suite is exceptional, great space, amazing views and a bed to die for. We had the most relaxing sleeps, the rooms are maintained daily and the cleaning staff do an amazing job making sure we had what we needed

The staff at the hotel are super helpful. Always happy to have a chat (if you want to) and make sure that the hotel remains Covid secure.

The breakfast staff are outstanding and you can see they are well managed. Obviously due to Covid the breakfast team help you to select your breakfast and within a day they pretty much know what your preferences are.

Overall we have had an exceptional stay and rate the experience as 10/10

The hotel was in a perfect location, a couple of minutes walk to the bay where you can find lots of restaurants/bars/shops etc.

The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout, and they have daily housekeeping so clean bedding/towels whenever you need them.

Check in and check out was very easy, and reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, and gave us a welcome pack with recommendations and suggestions of things to do in the area and around Malta.

The rooftop pool was beautiful, and the view was amazing! It’s very relaxing and there’s a range of drinks and snacks you can order from there, and they have towels for you to use there too.

We booked a room with a balcony but it was on a lower level, so we didn’t have a view, which didn’t matter to us, but if you are wanting a view you need to book a room with a balcony on a higher floor.

Would definitely recommend staying here, can’t fault it.

My mum and I visited Malta for a few days and stayed in Mercure. The hotel has a great location for transport as we got the bus to Valletta and Mdina. We also walked the seafront to Sliema on the first day. The hotel also organised a taxi for us to and from the airport which was €23 and 20-30 mins away.
There are several bars and restaurants nearby (Some of which required booking) and the hotel lobby bar also served to the rooftop pool or you could bring drinks to your room.

The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds comfortable and the shower luxuriously warm and strong. It only missed small details such as water bottles not replaced every day and no tissues in the bathroom.

The balconies are small and ours faced the street with views of local apartments but still nice for an evening sit before bed. Equally the pool is small but has amazing views and a great amount of sun for lounging.

The room was quite noisy from the street during the night as people returned home from nights out and cars drove past.

Finally, the breakfast was mostly average. Due to covid, it was served to you from the dishes by staff rather than a buffet style. Most of it was luke-warm to cold when you were sat at a table but tasted ok.

This hotel may only be a couple of years old, but, it has taken a hiding from all the young people (under 30’s) who’ve stayed here.
Whilst the rooms are nice & modern the walls are paper thin & you can hear the people in the adjoining room. Our group of 6 all agreed it felt like a young peoples party hotel.
The carpet in the corridors is heavily stained & also there is no air conditioning in the corridors. So, when you leave the comfort of your room you have to stand in the hot uncomfortable corridor waiting for the lift.
There was next to no chance of getting a lounge chair by the rooftop pool as it seemed all the young people either slept up there or left their gear on them. Also, it would be a great idea if the hotel could install more shade areas on the pool deck.
All the staff we encountered were lovely & friendly.
Pricing is expensive for what you are getting in this area,
Our group of 40 to 60 year olds wouldn’t book here again even though it’s in a great location with walking distance to all amenities.

The hotel is nice, more worthy of an ibis style than a Mercury, the location is quiet less than 1km from the clubs you will not be disturbed by the noise. On the other hand, the noise from other rooms is unbearable: toilet flushing, doors slamming, noise from the floors above. Pleasant swimming pool and bar with reasonable prices.
I am giving a negative review because there is no respect for the customer in this hotel. Children at the pool all day screaming and jumping, toy balloons... family hotel ok but the peace of mind of other guests is put to the test, the response from MANAGEMENT we offer you earplugs! I have never heard such a ridiculous response claiming that parents spend more than other customers. It's a shame, it would have been better to keep quiet than to give such an answer. In short, just an apology would have been enough. Fortunately the pool staff is pleasant.

We stayed at this new hotel for 5 nights, with a small tour group and after an initial misstep, had an excellent experience. The misstep was the original room allocated to us and whilst large and comfortable, as all rooms seem to be, this one - 104 (and 204 and possibly 304) - had little natural light and the view from the window was of 4 brick walls into a chimney like area, with the sky, 'way up there somewhere'. Hotels, not just this one, should not be permitted to offer such 'restricted viewing' rooms.
However, that was where any problems disappeared, thanks to staff in general and the lovely Sara in particular. On asking for a replacement room, she went out of her way to find us an affordable alternative, as well as offering us an inspection before accepting. It was an upgraded room with a balcony and tons of natural light, which we accepted without hesitation. That made the stay an extremely comfortable one.
As for the rooms themselves, they were large, with dedicated space for cases and comfortable, as well as having tea and coffee facilities, a safe, a hair dryer, a good sized bathroom and wonderful bathroom. The other facilities offered by the hotel were an expansive foyer/lobby area, which included a bar and plenty of chairs, a gym, a rooftop pool (albeit only 1m deep) with wonderful views over Spinola Bay and providing the services of the bar in the lobby and a comfortable breakfast room with a very good breakfast offering of hot and cold buffet. The location was also very good, being in a side street off the busy main street of St Julian's and within a few hundred meters of a range of cafes, bars and restaurants, a major supermarket a few hundred meters out the back and a bus stop effectively at the end of the street to Valletta (four route numbers 13, 13A, 14 and one other for the 30 minute trip), as well as to other areas.
All staff were pleasant and helpful and eager to please. I hark back to Sara, but she was ever smiling and pleasant and helped us again with a perfect transfer to the airport for our departure.

I first stayed at a Mercure hotel in Brazil and was so impressed with the facilities and service that I stayed at another Mercure in Porto, Portugal. That was even better.

So it was a no-brainer to stay at the Mercure when it is conveniently located in St. Julian's in Malta. However, this was by far the worst. Even than other hotel brands.

Firstly, I requested a room as far away from the lift as possible. I was given a room right next to the lift. During my first shower, I noticed there were two bottles of shampoo and no shower gel. So I ended up having to use the hand soap which dried my skin. Then I noticed there were no body lotion provided.

I called reception and requested body lotion, shower gel and a pair of slippers. When I returned later that evening, none were in the room. I personally went to reception and was informed that they had ran out of shower gel! Seriously?! What kind of four star hotel would run out of shower gel!

After being handed a few more bars of soap and a bottle of body lotion, I was informed that housekeeping will drop off a pair of slippers directly to my room. When they arrived, both slippers were right-footed!

To say my stay at this particular Mercure is a disappointment is a major understatement! I will seriously consider other hotel brands for my next trip.

An excellent experience from start to finish. Prior to booking, staff were responsive and helpful when contacted on queries and for assistance. Check in was smooth and we were even offered a welcome drink and chocolates! The staff could not be any more courteous and welcoming. The room was modern and well-equipped with a kettle and coffee machine. The breakfast was incredible and was also offered in-room due to the current situation, which we happily accepted as we wanted to enjoy it with the view from the room!

Although it is a chain hotel, it felt far from it as the staff was incredibly warm. A big well done to Marion on the front desk along with the rest of the team :)

Good rooms, there was a few issues with water which they stocked out mini bar for free as a gesture, if you hire a car and want to use the underground car park DO NOT GET A CAR BIGGER THAN A GOLF. It is possibly the most tight to manoeuvre car park i have ever used. The good news is your guaranteed parking as more than once i saw drivers in large cars give in and park on the street. Breakfast was good and my daughters especially like the fresh orange juicer and the automatic pancake maker that makes it from raw ingredients in under a minute. Would stay again if i returned to Malta

We stayed there last year, and I found it very inconvenient not to have any wardrobe, and no drawers. There was one short open clothes rail, one open shelf, so everything, including your underwear etc, was on display for all to see. Nor very nice. No storage at all. I found this Mercure quite disappointing (and I am an Accor member). The breakfast was mediocre, and the staff poorly trained. I personally preferred the Argento at the top of the road . Not as trendy and modern, but cosy rooms with plenty of storage, good breakfast and lovely staff
