This could be a great little hotel but it feels as though standard's have been allowed to slip.
The breakfast was quite limited which would have been OK if the food was of high quality and hot but sadly this was not the case with everything being placed under heat lamps which were not up to the job.
The fruit selection was limited and the cheeses and cold meats of the pre sliced out of the supermarket type as we're the pastries.
The breakfast could have been vastly improved just by introducing an egg station, as it was, a distinctly average experience.
The sky pool though relatively small was pleasantly laid out with sufficient space between the beds to give a little private space and clean towels were provided.
However the toilets were very poorly lit and in fact the meagre light in the ladies toilet did not work and we did not see them being cleaned regularly throughout the day and on one particular day the ladies toilet ran out of toilet paper.
The sky bar had virtually run out of beer and only offered heiniken and we felt that asking 5 euros for this and 10 euros for a cocktail a bit pricey given that even at the better restaurants we went to they rarely reached these prices.
Also the cushions in the seating area evidenced some moldiness.
The room we had was spacious and clean and tough you are fairly close to the main party area were very quiet with little noise intrusion from the street. They were cleaned daily though this often took place well after 4pm which was the latest it should have been done by according to their own literature.

Stayed here in August for 5 nights. The location is great, 5 minute walk to a bus stop, from where you can get a bus either to the south (Valleta, The Blue Grotto) or the north (Bugibba, Meliehha and Mdina) of Malta. The hotel is located close to the party district (Paceville), but you hardly hear any noise in the rooms.
The room was spacious with a double bed, a sofa, a desk and wardrobes. It was nice and airy and had a coffee machine too. The bathroom was a decent size with a walk-in shower and Molton Brown toiletries. The hotel has a roof top pool with loungers, though the bar is small and an indoor pool with a steam room, a sauna and a hot tub. I didn't book the breakfast, as I left early on most day. The staff were helpful & friendly and suggested the best bus routes to certain locations.
A lot of eating options around the hotel, the Balluta bay, St.George's bay are between 5 and 10 minute walk from the hotel. The choice of restaurants is good too and nice cafes in Paceville, for a quick grab & go breakfast.

Great place , location etc massive room on 5 th floor. Breakfast varied and good choices. Bed very comfortable. Extremely friendly Helpful staff. Clean but the boutique bit is not actually true !

The only problem we had was ‘Gangs’ of lads (French and German) invading the pool area and very very noisy in the early hours. We chose the hotel as it stated boutique and was small ish and not a massive complex where kids and gangs of people would use. The youths generally don’t have masks on when the hotel has signs all over asking you to. Almost getting into a argument with one French youth when I asked him not to get in the lift with me and my fiancé he refused so we had to get out and wait for the next lift. Disrespectful youths in groups does no favours for this hotel !!!!

The third day the ‘ bar manager’ at the pool upstairs had to warn a group of youths smoking and playing very loud music over the already playing soft pool music. He changed our holiday for the better, as the pool was generally kept to a decent peaceful level and we were glad to see he was there the next day too to keep the pool how it should be without dive bombing, heavily drinking gangs blasting their own music. Well done to the bar manager an Italian gentlemen who made is some amazing cocktails whilst relaxing by the pool ! 10/10 for everything else.

The lobby area is impressive and definitely conjures up a great hotel but the details aren’t so on point. Rooms aren’t very well appointed, housekeeping was spotty and the building works opposite, while not the hotels fault, were awful.

At first glance, the studio bedroom looked great. Bed very comfy, bathroom nice, kitchenette and lounge area etc. However, the old fashioned lights by the bed were strictly decorative (and they weren’t), the room lights were too dim, there were no sockets by the bed (only in the kitchen area so all devices were there overnight, which was inconvenient) and one side of the bed didn’t have any type of nightstand. Kitchen equipment was rationed ridiculously and didn’t match. I didn’t want to cook of course but to be able to find 2 plates that matched one another might have been expected. There were literally 2 mismatched plates. And I know this is petty but is drove me to distraction that the lovely molten brown toiletries could not be held in the shower holder for toiletries as the wire gaps were too large for the containers so they constantly ricocheted out onto the floor. Just really thoughtless design.

Housekeeping wasn’t consistent and didn’t follow a logical list. We didn’t have any soap at all at any point, the coffee sachets were rationed as well and sometimes weren’t restocked as people “forgot”.

The rooftop pool, area and bar was nice but was showing signs of age and while the lovely man there was doing well with what he had, selection of lagers was poor, and he was not consistently available to serve. For a supposedly 4 star hotel, I didn’t expect to be meerkatting along with the rest of the punters to see if he was at the bar or not for periods of half an hour or more.

Finally, the building works. Now, I appreciated that this wasn’t a room with a view (the clue is in the name) but I didn’t expect to be overlooking a building side - directly opposite and then further on the construction of a very large building. This isn’t The George’s fault of course but this did not make for a nice holiday. Building works were 12 hours a day, 7 days a week making the balcony completely redundant during the day, impossible even for a coffee in the morning. That said, the double glazing was very effective and with the doors closed it wasn’t audible. But this did impact our trip quite a lot as sitting outside for a bit is a normal part of a holiday! And of course it could also be heard from the roof.

All in all, just an ok experience, certainly not a great one.

We stayed in the hotel 7-15 August. We got nice room on the second floor (209) with street view. The room was spacious, cleaned and very comfortable, downside was shower in the bathroom as it was fixed in the wall 7 feet high with the flow (pressure) really weak and there was no other way of bathing or showering. Aircon was good and was very helpful when coming back from the heat outside.
Staff were very helpful and pleasant, cannot fault them.
We stayed on B&B bases and for the first four days it was menu breakfast served (6 or 7 types) which seemed nice and well prepared. For the last four days the hotel switched to buffet breakfast and the quality went significantly down, the sausages and scrambled eggs were cold, bacon dry and cold, boiled eggs over cooked, it was quite disappointing. The service was adequate and friendly.
Roof top pool was very nice but on smaller side. Pool bar didn't serve any kind of food or snacks, only drinks and ice-cream.
Position of the hotel near Paceville bars and clubs gave it noisy nights and that didn't help the sleep but that is to be expected when you choose hotel in area like that.
Over all the stay was pleasant with some disappointments. I cannot give more than 3 stars to my review as the food at breakfast and no food served at roof top bar plus the inconvenience of the shower keep me from giving 4.
I would consider coming back but would expect improved food.

The hotel was pretty good, room was big and clean, bed reasonably comfy. Be advised - the area surrounding is a huge party district for young, drunk obnoxious English tourists, it is truly astonishing. The rooftop was nice, great cocktails, the pool looks great from a distance, but it was actually full of mould, so that was a quick exit. We used the included service to get beach loungers at the beach club in the north of the country, but taking a taxi there was a bit of a bother as the hotel reception told us half of the price that it actually cost (a simple mistake which we understood due to the staff member being new, and they covered the additional cost which was a relief). We also got free parking which was nice, though there was a bit of a "discussion" about it again with reception because they said it wasn't free (good thing we had the email to confirm it). Overall for the price not bad, though I think my next visit to Malta would be to a different area.

This is a really hard review for us to write, as the staff were fantastic and even surprised us on our anniversary. A special mention to Maxine who was incredibly helpful. However we had a few nights of really poor sleep due to the noise. The hotel is right in the heart of paceville and although the hotel was great and lovely and clean it isn’t ideal for a couples get away and I feel there may be more suitable hotels in the area. There were a number of groups of young adults having a great time (which was lovely to see) and the location doesn’t lend itself to a quiet holiday. We moved rooms after the first night and that helped immensely so if noise bothers you ask for a room out the front.
The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. The pool bar although well stocked for drinks you cannot get any snacks so eating you have to leave the hotel.
The location is great for getting out and about and we made the most of local beach clubs where we could be closer to the sea, get waiter service and food.
Everything was in walking distance and the food locally is really good with lots of choice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your kind words about our fantastic staff and their efforts to make your anniversary special. We'll be sure to pass on your appreciation to Maxine for her incredible assistance. We're glad that moving rooms after the first night helped to alleviate the noise issue. Our front-facing rooms are generally quieter, and we encourage guests who are sensitive to noise to request such rooms during their stay. It's great to hear that you found our breakfast plentiful with lots of choice. We believe that starting the day with a satisfying meal is important, and we're glad we could provide a variety of options for you to enjoy. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the absence of snacks at the pool bar. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our offerings in the future. We're pleased to know that our location allowed you to explore and make the most of the local beach clubs and their services. Being within walking distance to various attractions and enjoying the diverse culinary scene are definitely advantages of our location. Thank you again for your feedback. We will use it to continuously improve and provide a better experience for our guests. Should you decide to visit the area again, we hope you will consider giving us another chance to exceed your expectations.

The loudest hotel I‘ve ever stayed in. The Hotel is surrounded by various bars and clubs with a loud clientel. The music and shouting people can be heard through closed doors and earplugs until 4 am. But that is by dar not the biggest problem. The hotel is closely surrounded by three construction sites, on of which shares a wall with the hotel. For four nights I was woken every morning at 6.15 am by hammering and drilling in my room wall (the noise went on all day and it was impossible to have a phone conversation in the room- it was just too loud to hear anything). On the fourth morning I was finally allowed to move to a room, were the drills were only faintly audible with the windows closed. Due to the noise from three sides it was very uncomfortable on the pool terrace and the balcony. So if you want more than two hours of undisturbed sleep don‘t book The George.
If you try to arrange anything through reception (rental car, taxi, late checkout) be prepared that it usually does not work and the staff is always smiling nicely but seldom helpful.
On the day of checkout we had arranged with the receptionist on duty that one room could check out at 1pm (extra fee 10 Euro was good) and the other (me) at noon, because they said this category of rooms was fully booked and could not be prolonged for a fee. This turned out to be a mir, when I checked availability online.
When I tried to get back into my room at 11.30 to check out, my key was not working. I asked a member of the cleaning staff who had seen me come out 30 minutes before for help. He said he could not let me in and called his supervisor. I could hear them on the phone. She literally said to make me (only in towel and bathing suite) come down to reception as it was time for checkout and they would get me out of the room.
Added to all this the rooms and the lobby could be cleaned better (stains on the bedsheets and the Couch), dirt in the shower, stains on the carpet…)
Don‘t go there. Even though it may be tempting when in the language school next door.

Pros

Nice big beds
Nice bathrooms
Central Location
Cleaning staff were lovely
Reception staff very helpful
Pool was very quiet most of the time
Barman at the pool was very friendly
Great resturants nearby
Easy to get the bus to St Pauls and Valetta. Both are well worth a visit

Cons
Noise from the strip - but not the hotels fault. And we knew this before going as we had done our research. We got use to it pretty quickly
Noise from construction - again, we knew this before we went and it is out of the hotels control. Was pretty irritating to wake up to the noise but couldn't be helped.
On our final day the demographic of guests seemed to change. Up until this point it was an older demographic and peaceful, but on the final day it switched to a younger crowd and the pool atmosphere completely changed. The pool was overcrowded and the music was much louder and irritating, so no longer relaxing. Then bizarely all the sun loungers started to be removed by the hotel staff which was very bizare as there isn't loads of sunbeds in the first place. Definitely felt like we were going home at the right time as the atmosphere started to become very different.
The beach at St Julians is nice but crowded

But overall a good stay. But perhaps would stay in a quieter area next time.

I have to say on the whole we was very happy with our stay but if you are a first time visitor to Malta (like us) be aware the area is under construction so expect some noise. This however doesn’t take aware the loveliness of the place. We did book 2 rooms for 5 of us and upon arrival the room for 3 only had one bed in, the trainee staff member arranged for a change in rooms very promptly. The rooms themselves are very spacious, clean and cleaners came in daily to refresh towels and tidy. The fridge we found only worked when the front cupboard door that conceals the fridge was left open. If shut the fridge got too warm and the contents didn’t stay cool. So top tip leave cupboard door open and items in fridge stay cold! The amenities we enjoyed. Staff members for the indoor pool very friendly and towels provided, Rooftop pool give lovely views but photos used on website have edited out construction/cranes that are in view too. All areas again very clean and tidy and easy to get loungers. You can only get breakfast within the hotel, sadly the rooftop pool didn’t sell any snacks which seems a missed opportunity there. However, Cuba restaurant opposite and a pasta place next door, shops and supermarkets all extremely close to get supplies. St Julian’s it self is beautiful and caters for all, lovely restaurants around the bays and busier area with pubs and clubs. Buses easy and cheap to visit the island, seems like 2 euro for most places.
