H Hotel emerges as a modern establishment praised for its cleanliness and attentive service. The central location is a hit with party enthusiasts and beachgoers, though the vibrant nightlife contributes to a noisy environment that can permeate guest rooms.
While the ambiance is described as lively, with a popular rooftop pool and quality breakfast, some guests express dissatisfaction with the value, citing excessive charges and the dark, themed decor. Despite these concerns, the staff's dedication and the hotel's cleanliness receive consistent commendation.

We stayed from March 27 to April 1, 2024, for five nights.
Because we had seen the reviews on the rating software in advance, we knew there would be noise problems, but fortunately we booked a luxury side sea view room, so we were assigned to the side away from the nightclub bar street. Even so, some music noise can be heard at night, but fortunately, we still slept soundly, and even reminded me of the feeling of childhood.
The decoration in the house is very gorgeous, especially the mirror above the head, which I have never seen before. The location is also very good, next to the beach, and nearby are all kinds of shopping malls, restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
The room is large and cool, but because it is by the sea, you can see some signs of erosion in the corners, which is not a cleaning problem. When I first moved into the hotel, I felt that the room was sprayed with a lot of perfume, but after the perfume dissipated, I could smell a strong sewer odor in the room. We think there should be some problems with the bathroom floor drain. If you really feel dirty, you should ask the hotel to renovate it instead of complaining about the cleaning staff.
The daily cleaning is done very well, and new water will be added for us every day.
Breakfast was average, a little sad that eggs Benedict was not included in the dine-in meal, only breakfast in bed. My girlfriend loved their omelette though.
Big compliments to the front desk and restaurant staff, they made us feel at home, very welcome, and the service was very high quality and professional! Hope they get a raise.
It is worth mentioning that we did not have any issues with the deposit refund as we paid in cash. Five minutes after check-out, the entire deposit of 250 euros (50 euros per day) was refunded.

My wife and I travelled the world over many years, and this was one of the best hotels stays that we ever had. We spent 6 days in the H Hotel, and we loved every minute of it.
It was our 25th Anniversary and we did a lot of travelling, eating & sightseeing in Malta and Gozo - it was a pleasure to return each evening to this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and very tolerant of some of the "less than polite" guests. From the Rooftop Infinity Pool staff who were so polite to our manager "Plamena" she oozed professionalism.
It is very well branded and ambitious standards prevail throughout. If you are considering spending time, here be aware that it is in the heart of the nightlife portion of St Julian so expect plenty of "Buzz" music and young adult energy. If you are looking for a silent night - try downtown Valetta. But if you want to have a high-quality hotel with friendly and efficient staff right in the happening part of town. This is your location.

Overall, our experience at the hotel was positive, with highlights including the modern decor and attentive service. Upon arrival at the airport, we were greeted by a transfer organized by the hotel, clearly identified with the name of the reservation. While we also booked a transfer for our departure, we found that using Bolt, public buses, or tourist buses during the stay was more convenient and cost-effective. Bolts were readily available at all major points of interest.
Location and surroundings The hotel is situated in St. Julian's, a lively area filled with bars and pubs but also some nice restaurants. The area is clean and well-maintained. Although the rooms are soundproof, during special occasions like New Year’s celebrations, the noise can still be noticeable. On regular days, we did not encounter significant noise issues.
Accommodation Our initial room had a problem with the temperature, which was stuck on heating mode and could not be adjusted. The small windows didn’t provide sufficient ventilation, making the stay uncomfortable. However, the hotel acted quickly on our feedback and upgraded us to a better room. The upgraded accommodation was exceptional: spacious, well-lit, and featuring an outdoor hot tub, a balcony with loungers and a table, and stunning views. The room also had two TVs, a sofa, a kitchenette. They provide us one complimentary bottle of prosecco, along with a discount for future stays as compensation for the initial inconvenience. This quick resolution showcased the hotel’s commitment to customer satisfaction. Additionally, to all rooms complimentary bottled water was provided daily, which was a thoughtful touch.
Service and cleanliness Housekeeping and towel replacements were provided daily when needed. The room was modern, equipped with controls for lights, blackout curtains, and a convenient "Do Not Disturb" button. On the firsts days, the hot tub water developed an unpleasant odor, possibly due to the rain. Maintenance responded promptly, replacing the water and applying disinfectant within 10 to 20 minutes.
Dining and amenities The restaurants under Hugo’s brand delivered good experiences, and the indoor pool was a nice addition. However, we primarily used the hot tub in our room. One area for improvement would be offering more partnerships or discounts with the hotel’s restaurants, as we only received a 10% discount at the terrace restaurant at the start of our stay. The hotel also offers a New Year’s Eve party.
Check-in and check-out A security deposit of €250 was required during check-in, which was refunded at check-out after a quick room inspection.
Local exploration We highly recommend visiting Valletta, just 20 minutes away by Bolt, as it boasts stunning historical landmarks.
Customer service The front desk, reservations, and concierge teams were extremely attentive and efficient, addressing all our requests and resolving every issue we encountered. Their fluency in English made communication seamless.

The hotel is clean with rooms serviced daily. Housekeeping is excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. The bedrooms have black decor with chains hanging down the walls reflecting the adult theme (it isn’t just that the hotel allows no children). Rooms looking out on the internal shaft have little natural light. The bathrooms are clean but are just a glass box with no privacy within the bedroom so as long as you’re happy for your partner to observe your ablutions you’re ok.
There is a wide choice at breakfast which is buffet style. However unless you have an omelette cooked to order you take your chance on the full English breakfast being luke warm.
You will be lucky to get a sun bed. The pool is on the roof of the hotel with very few sun beds. This is also used by another of Hugo’s hotels and it would seem a number of locals. The queue starts early on the stairs between 10th & 11th floors to get sun beds prior to the pool opening at 9:30.
The H stands for Hugo’s. They own most of the hotel’s, restaurants and bars in the immediate area. The Italian and Asian restaurants are worth a visit as is the bar and restaurant in between the two roads.
Why then only two stars? You do feel that the hotel is only interested in making money. From the 250 euro deposit authorised on arrival to the pool parties attended mainly by non residents of the hotel which go on till 4am. Having initially had a room facing the shaft and suffering loud music till 4am from the pool party, being unable to sleep, we upgraded to a front room paying another 1000 Euros. While this did give a hot tub on the balcony and a sea view the noise around the hotel continues well beyond 5am when the revellers from the clubs are shouting and arguing on their way home. The hotel says the noise is beyond their control but you would expect better soundproofing when the doors and windows are shut.
The beach at St George’s Bay is described as sandy and has a Blue Flag award. Now it maybe that as I live in Cornwall UK where we have great beaches but St George’s Bay is really a grit beach along with the thousands of cigaret butts and bottle tops. The water quality was good during our stay but the beach has had several waste discharges through the year.

Upon arrival in the evening we were greeted warmly, however, € 250 in cash were taken directly from us as a depot. With some exceptions at reception, the staff was friendly and helpful.
In our opinion, the attempt to look like a stylish hotel through the design in black and gold has failed. The very dark entrance area continues into the sparsely lit hallways and upon entering the room everything is black. After inserting the room card there is light, but also in the room everything is very gloomy. This is of course a matter of taste for us everything was too dark.
The rooms were several times not cleaned at all or only partially. The exchange of towels was not wanted by us daily, but when we put the towels on the floor they were replaced several times only partially. If reported at the reception or directly to the staff, the missing was quickly replaced or the rooms were still cleaned. The rooms also lack storage space. The beds are comfortable and the hairdryer was great. The breakfast is good and has everything you need, but nothing more, no variety.
The hotel is in the middle of a party mile, so corresponding guests are also in this hotel. The rooms are noisy, facing the hallway as well as the street. Travelers who want to go on excursions or have a light sleep should not take a hotel in Paceville.
The rooftop pool is ok, but is used by two hotels and is much too small for that. If you're not first up on the roof in the morning, you don't have a chance to get a lounger. The alternative indoor pool scared us. It is creepy dark, the water is cloudy, the paint peels off on the walls and moss and presumably mold forms. The spa area we did not use and we cannot judge, but looked appealing.
Several times a week, parties are held on the roof, which is basically no problem. An elevator is then blocked for the party guests and only one elevator remains for the hotel guests. In a hotel with 160 rooms, an elevator is definitely not enough, the waiting times were enormous.
All in all a big disappointment.

Had an amazing stay at this hotel, i was a bit wary at first as some of the recent reviews haven’t been the greatest however I can confirm its just a bunch of Karens looking for something to complain about. Check in was nice and quick, both reception and infinity pool staff were nice and attentive. The room itself was cleaned every day and the cleaning stuff treat you with the utmost respect which was much appreciated. People in Malta are cery welcoming and that could be seen both in the culture of the hotel as well as anywhere you go. The noise is there but is minimal considering you have double doors for the balcony ( our room was right above the strip where music is loudest yet we couldn't complain). The pool upstairs is amazing and there are plenty of lounge chairs so no need to worry. The only minus is the lift system as only one goes all the way up sometimes when you want to use that specific lift the other one comes instead, and by the time you wait for it to leave the one you actually want has already gone all the way up. It was annoying at times but again this did not at all take away from the experience itself just a minor inconvenience. There was a bit of a smell in our room at first i think it was because or the jacuzzi however the same smell can be noticed in the streets sometimes so i think this must be a problem with the overall pipe system in the country not the hotel itself. I can therefore confirm this hotel to be perfect for couples looking to enjoy a boujie stay.

Had a great stay at this hotel, located in the center of party town Saint Julian's.
The room was spacious and clean. Loved the fact that there were a lot of usb charging ports in the room, which we found very convenient. The bed was excellent: broad and comfortable. The shower was very fancy, with colored lights and lots of different shower heads. I did however miss some towel racks of a simple hanger to put the towels on.
Absolutely adored the breakfast buffet at H Hotel and Spa. They had everything my heart could desire (except for smoked salmon, tip for the staff!). I started my day every morning with an English breakfast. There was also an omelet station where the cook made your omelet to order. Since we stayed here at Christmas time, the staff all wore Santa hats. The vibe was very festive. We even got offered a pastry on the house to celebrate Christmas.
We also used the spa facilities. The sauna was excellent, the steam bath did not function that well. There were free towels available in the spa area. We did notice that the paint wasn't suited for this humid environment. In several places the paint was peeling of the walls. I think tiles work better in these kind of environments.

Overcrowded, open to the public so you couldn't get space at the pool on the 11th floor. Loud music. Infinity pool open to public EVERY night, no space and a safety and security issue, as the "guests" were left wandering the corridors of the hotel at 3am. Strong smells from Mc Donalds across the street. 2 sets of triple glazed patios doors to the balcony (Clue - Loud noise), street noise, shopping complex opposite made the balcony unusable. Outside our room the view was of the building site opposite. At night the street were very "vibrant" the morning breakfast view enabled us to watch as they hosed down the front of the hotel and street and the roof of the opposite side of the road from vomit, urine and trash. The bathroom door in the very dark rooms, was see through, oversharing at its finest - if you wanted to put the light on and didn't shut the curtains, the people on the balcony opposite could watch you shower and use the Loo.! Street noise and clubs didn't close until 3.30/4am and then the revellers made their way back to wherever they were staying- loudly. Going to the local restaurants entailed walking through the throng of drunk people and past dodgy people exchanging things in doorways, coming home was worse. The spa was disgusting and filthy and smelly and sun beds were by a main road costing 21 euros a day each !. You get charged 250 euros deposit in arrival which will take 21 days after your holiday to be returned. We anticipated a long awaited relaxing holiday in an adult only resort and have been thoroughly disappointed on every aspect. We came home for a rest.NEVER going back.

Dear Jogrigg, Thank you for staying at H Hotel & Spa and finding some time to publish a review. We are not happy to see your comments and find out we failed to provide you with pleasant experience and relaxing holiday. Our team is aware of some flaws of the location, and we honestly wished you had a chance to inquire about some important aspects of the hotel prior to your arrival and avoid this dissatisfaction. Our position is in the lively area with many bars, clubs, restaurants (Paceville, the heart of the entertainment district), and this information was published online on the hotel website, with an intention of providing such information to all of our protentional clients. Apart from this, there are also explanations and pictures of every room category we have, where layout, design and in-room amenities can be seen - this was as well done in the best interest of both hotel and our guests. We are not sure about your method of booking, but we can confirm that we informed all of our direct guests and business partners about our pre authorization policies, so it remains unclear how and why someone missed to provide you with such an important information. All in all, we are deeply sorry for letting you down with our service this time. Should you consider visiting us again, we politely suggest some other, less busy period in the area. Our team would be delighted to have a new opportunity to welcome you, we would go out of our way to offer a more peaceful experience and professional service. Kind Regards, Customer Relations Manager

Structurally very beautiful hotel, good intentions but unfortunately the execution is not up to par. Check in at 4 check out at 12.00. After a series of negotiations they gave us at least 1 hour to check out. In the room. The bathrobes were missing, they came to check if it was true. The S.p.A. This award-winning hotel is left to decay. The sauna and salt room are safe, but generally dirty. The edges of the spa pool are always completely wet, it doesn't matter what time you go, it's impossible to walk around it without risking your neck, you can also find the plaster on the sunbeds because they're falling down, the loose tiles everywhere. The spa kit does not include non-slip slippers, S.p.A. it is open from 9 to 9 with free access, but the staff is a bit rude. The room was cold, the cleaning lady took away the key to manage the light in the room, upon returning to the room the system reset and the air conditioning was unstoppable. The curtain device didn't work from the bed, the mini bar cost a lot, the noise from the nightlife in the area was very loud and depending on the position of the room the noise increased, we were very close to the nightclubs, if you want to sleep it's not the right place . The next day they didn't give us towels and towels. After several requests they brought everything to us. They tried to fix it as best they could, but I think the problems are different. Breakfast would be the highlight, but unfortunately they don't let you bring anything to your room like other hotels of this type do. The opening hours are strictly from 7am to 10.30am and do not change on Sundays like other hotels do. In short, there is no attention to detail... too bad! I wouldn't recommend it.

Where do I start? This hotel is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. When I first walked thru the doors the first thing I said was WOW! The decor was unique and very classy. We arrived at around half 10 in the morning and check in wasn't till 4pm. We checked in and the receptionist said she would call me when our room was ready, not even 20 mins later I recieved a call and our room was ready. Our room was big, and airy. The bed was very comfortable with crisp white bedding. (The mirror above the bed was different) The bathroom was lovely with a powerful shower and the fluffiest towels and dressing gowns. The staff.....were my highlight of this holiday every single staff member we encountered were kind, friendly and welcoming. The roof top pool was beautiful abit on the small side, it works well with the space they had. The only downside we had to this was it being open to the public, it got very busy at times. The food was amazing, so tasty with decent size portions. Before arriving at Hugos I had read some reviews here and was very wary about it thinking I had made a mistake booking, I'm so glad I didn't change our hotel after our Hugos experience. Yes it can be noisy but you will be in the heart of paceville, close the balcony door and it ain't too bad. I'm a very light sleeper and slept fine every night. Please note we had to pay a €250 deposit on check in, and got €250 back on check out (I paid cash)

Personally, this is not a honeymoon hotel but its a long time since I was on honeymoon. The 30 year old we spoke to found the nightlife particularly at weekends too much, unless of course they are into gentleman's clubs. Hope this helps

Yes you have to pay on arrival, they take the deposit as soon as you check in. If you do cash you get it back when you leave. If you do credit card it comes back on the card in about two weeks, Ours was per person. They are helpful on email so if you do book with them, maybe ask them how much it would be for the amount of people going so you can plan ahead.
