Really lovely hotel/location, everything you would expect within walking distance - just don’t get caught out after 10pm when it all becomes a little uncomfortable & seedy along the strip of bars... There lies a number Gentleman’s Clubs....

Feel Diamond have been slightly let down on the refurbishment front as some of the other hotel rooms looked very plush, the kitchen cupboards smelt slightly musty when opened like a rotting wood smell - however everything you would expect within the room.

The hotel itself is lovely, however, don’t get caught out, upon arrival, we were requested to put €150 on hold on a card, being people that live by their means, this meant that €150 of our spending money went straight away! The receptionist said this was to cover if we ate/drank in any bars (this DOES NOT include the SKYBEACH Bar) we always pay as we go & the prices in the hotel were extortionate, but she was adamant it be that amount, a couple of days past & I approached again & she said about reducing it but it we would lose 20% discounts etc.. I continued that I wanted the hold cancelled, she continued & advised it will take X amount of days to be back in my account.. It’s been 2 weeks & still €150 has not been refunded.. We stayed at Santa Barbara Tenerife in February who only took 0.01 cent!

Be careful & don’t get caught out like we did - maybe ask to pay as you go or a reduced price!

We stayed here as part of our ‘ Diamond points’ allocation and after reading some of the reviews have to admit we were a little nervous but had absolutely no need.

Diamond suites are located above the Intercontinental hotel and it’s worth noting that check in is at 1600 and unlike other Diamond properties they don’t’ seem to do early check-ins . They also request a 30 Euro per night hold on a credit card, though I did notice that this was actually released after about a week, but worth noting.

To reach the Diamond accommodation you need to take a lift to 7th Floor and then along a corridor to the Diamond Reception area and another lift either up or down to your floor. Bit odd, but no real hassle.

We were in a one bedroom family and it was modern, bright and really spacious. Yes, it faced the road area and therefore due to the building works opposite ( they’re building a new VOCO / IHG Hotel) it could be noisy at times during the day but from inside it was quiet so it didn’t really bother us as we were out all day. It also afforded afternoon, early evening sun.

The apartment was really well equipped for a self catering holiday with all the facilities we needed. The kitchen area was good and had ample prepping and cooking area. Yes, the oven could do with a deep clean but other than that the area was just as we needed with a large fridge freezer and plenty of sockets (which are UK 3 pin sockets) as well as USB charging ports. Cleaning is every few days and there is air conditioning and a safe as standard. Just to note that it doesn’t have any outdoor drying area but has a retractable line over the bath.

There is a roof top pool area which had lots of space and beds available as well as a bar area. And you can also access a beach area at St Georges Bay, as part of the Intercontinental. We didn’t use any of the Intercontinental facilities or restaurants but they are available to all.

It is within easy reach of the local buses to access all parts of the island for a mere 2.50 Euro pp. and there is a good supermarket (Welbees) as well as other shops close by including the Bay Shopping Centre immediately opposite the hotel.

Even though it is busy, bit of a party area in the evenings, we liked the location for its ease of access to be able to walk along the promenade area to Sliema and beyond or to head north along the coastal paths to St Paul's.

It was our first visit to Malta and we would happily return to Diamond Suites on Malta for another visit.

This was the only partner resort accommodation available to us through our Pestana Vacation Club membership, but as we wanted a base to explore Malta for 2 weeks, we took a chance. Based on previous reviews, we were aware there may be issues. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Our 9th floor studio overlooked the garden and was very quiet. The bed was comfortable and everything worked acceptably. A light bulb went in the kitchen area, and once reported, was rectified immediately. The gym and pool were fine. As a base to explore Malta and Gozo, the location was great. Yes, it’s on the edge of Paceville, but if you turn left out of the hotel instead of right, you can avoid walking through the melee, and you then have some great restaurants in St Julian’s on the doorstep, plus easy access to the main bus stop opposite Welbees supermarket (very good) which gets you anywhere you want to go. Buy a Tallinja card for 12 journeys for €21 to save quite a bit of money! All in all, it was acceptable for what we needed.

Diamond resorts showed beautiful pictures of a hotel - intercontinental that is up dated and modern and completely misrepresented what we were stuck with! After checking in and escorted to our wing of the hotel that us Diamond resorts members are reserved into the air became a mixture of old cigarette smoke and popcorn. The carpets of the corridors went from lush to dingy faded and over abused. The 2 bedroom suite we were put in was old and dingy with no refurbishment. The wind was howling outside and the entire suite was ice cold and we were told that due to the change of the season the heat is no longer an option to turn on
Calling numberous times I was promised blankets and room heaters that were provided after speaking with 5 different people and 2 hours later
Diamond resorts I would like to know why we are treated to the servant quarters of the resort when we pay royally as members every dues cycle? It is unacceptable to show pictures and mislead members to stay on an international holiday in such meager accommodations !

Rather a mixed bag of findings. On the down side, water flooded into the apartment the first evening and on request we were placed into another apartment. Although badged as diamond resort, under Hilton Grand Vacations, the admin for guests is carried out, under limitation by Intercontinental. They were not able to confirm which accommodation we could have for the rest of the holiday until they spoke with the Diamond resort rep. No rep appeared for three days! While accepting anybody is due days off, it is absolutely baffling that no cover by Diamond resorts was arranged and any attempts to contact them were not answered. It took three days to eventually confirm we could stay in the same room for the rest of our stay. We contacted RCI through whom we had arranged the exchange, and they also were not able to contact Diamond Resorts.
Quality of the apartment was fair at best. It was not secure as the window on the balcony could not look and although attended to quickly, the repair was ineffective.
The safe is a small box in the wardrobe but is not bolted or attached to anything, so very easy to pick it up and take it away.
Bathroom door handle came off; bathroom door would not shut due to wood at side prematurely contacting frame. Door from corridor had visible gap at lower portion of side so corridor could be seen.
On the plus side, kitchen equipment was good, enough plates, cutlery, glasses, etc. Fridge worked well. Bed very comfortable, and adequate storage.
The Intercontinental Hotel, who have the task of giving the keys for the apartments, are excellent, but it is not for them to deal with the admin of Diamond Resorts. The hotel facilities are great, with swimming pools (outdoor and indoor), saunas, steam rooms, spa, and several restaurants and bars, where the service and food are excellent.
It is interesting that RCI site has no reviews of this resort. So far I have not been able to place one, although that maybe my difficulty with technology!

We had a 2 bedroom apartment, check in was a little hectic and the person who checked us in (won't mention his name) could do with a little customer service training.
The lift also broke on out floor and we had to use the fire exit but it was fun.
Hotel is great though, very big so can get lost, they have a rooftop pool, bar and a few restaurants inside. The beach is a few metres away and there is a closed off section available to hotel customers.

I've read some bad reviews about this apartment but we found it to extremely spacious and very clean. Well positioned. Wonderful rooftop pool easily accessible by lift. Free use of pool towels. Air con and WiFi
Lots of building work to other properties but with two sliding doors, there was no noise for us.

Just had a week's holiday here with Diamond resorts. This is our 4th visit since becoming members in 1998. Check in went well but was around 4.20pm when room ready. All clean and well within apartment. Unfortunately 2 days into holiday noticed a leak from ceiling water pipes. Reported immediately but no action from maintenance staff until 2 days later. Situate in the area of Paceville which is a lively bar area with loud music. Crowded with young people so not for peace lovers. Has private beach lower down toad which is kept nice and clean. Sunbeds go to front of bay so safe for families to observe children. Great bus network from back of hotel area. We took buses to Valletta. St. Pauls Bay. Buggiba. Sliema. There is also hop on/ off tour bus leaving from private beach which we used to visit the 3 cities.
Great large well stocked supermarket a short walk from hotel by main bus stops. Plenty of good street food outlets just across road bu Bay Street shopping mall. Since our last visit 7 years ago the area has and is still being built up with high rise buildings so evidence of cranes everywhere.
All in all we managed to get a nice relaxing holiday but are informed that after 31st Dec this year that Diamond will cease to use this property

Booked through RCI for a week. Apartment was a good size but very dark and dreary. Well equipped with cutlery, glass etc. Concierge was charming but useless. There was drilling in the apartment above at 8.00am on two days, which she denied and tried to say was elsewhere in the building. A broken showerhead was reported twice but never mended. Intercontinental hotel, where the Diamond Suites are located are another matter and saved the day. Shouldn't think we would return

Unit was damp to point doors would not close, trim through out was peeling off kitchen doors. Neither shower rail worked, in fact in one bathroom, the one with the rusty floor the shower valve didn't work at all ! Neither extractor unit in bathrooms worked adding to the damp! When you opened the cupboards there was a pervasive smell of damp inside! The personal hot tub was empty and the left over water was brown too! Floor tiles were cracked in both bathrooms as well! All in all a complete lack of interest by Diamond resorts! Used these people for decades and this was the worst level of maintenance ! The staff to whom you are expected to report stuff to are never around ! The office door and shutter open but was like the Marie Celeste ! The carpeting in corridors lacked the use of a hoover!

There is an outdoor pool on the roof (10th floor) but it my not be heated or have a lifeguard at that time of the year. They don't open all of the amenities in the low seasons. There is a smaller indoor pool on the 5th floor adjacent to the Spa and the gym that we took full advantage of in December. If you can afford to pamper yourselves the Hamman is incredible and authentic.
