Nestled in a secluded, picturesque setting, Sunlight Eco Tourism Island Resort is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and luxurious amenities, including bike rides, snorkeling, and unique villas with glass floors. While some guests suggest improvements in certain services and advocate for an all-inclusive option due to the remote location, the spacious and comfortable rooms with stunning views are consistently praised. Although opinions on value vary, with some finding it reasonable and others disfavoring the cost of extras, the staff's friendliness and the resort's cleanliness receive high marks across the board.

All positives for this resort!
1. Pre-boarding requirements were made seamless by Vangie from Reservations. She was always on call and made sure that there would be no hitches prior to our trip.
2. The airport lounge, plane trip, van to the port and speed boat to the island were very safe and followed pandemic protocols.
3. Upon arrival, we were quickly whisked to the restaurant for lunch where tables and guests were scattered.
4. Our Sirakan room was breathtaking. It had transparent glass floors and a balcony which opened to an unobstructed view of the ocean.
5. As part of their safety protocols, all our needs were communicated via Viber. This included our room service orders for our meals.
6. The resort is surrounded by corals and marine life for snorkeling.
7. The staff which included the golf cart drivers, receptionists, housekeepers and restaurant servers were all very courteous. I just wished that the resort gave them name plates so we could have addressed and commended them properly.

Wished we stayed longer.

This is a great place especially for beach lovers .Staffs are attentive.service is great but still can be better by raising the service level from satisfactory to delighted or surprised level. Food is okay reasonable prizes , but the steak of their teppanyaki is though, hopefully this will improve. The rooms are good but can also be better by refilling shampoos and shower gel. This place is also good to unwind .

At the ned of it all…WOW!

I will preface this review with a frustration with lack of communication the days prior to our arrival but once things were sorted out the experience as a whole was fantastic

We booked 3rd party and I would not recommend it. Transfer is not included and once paid the cost was about the same. This is also where most of the communication frustration started. The other thing we would do differently is stay in Coron the night if you have a late arrival and then transfer to the resort so you have time to enjoy all the resort has to offer.

Be aware that the main source of communication on the island/resort is via Viber or WhatsApp. There are phones in the room but it was easier to message for a buggy or housekeeping from the app.

We were welcomed by a team that was impressive. It reminded me of the old show Fantasy Island…

We stayed in the Tuscany villa which was beautiful. A welcome gift of hand made chocolates, fruit plate and champagne was a special treat.

There were a few things that could be improved on. We had wanted to eat at a specific restaurant and even though we requested a reservation there was no chef to prepare a meal for us. Some of the property needs maintenance over all a great experience.

My wife and I spent 14 days in the Philippines, and we were excited to spend our last 3 nights in a nice resort with Sunlight Eco.

TLDR: aside from the location, nothing about this place is a resort.

From the get go, the experience was poor. It took 2 hours for our boat to pick us up to take us to the resort (which they later charged us 2.5k pesos for)

Upon arrival, you are taken back by the room location: right on the water. When you walk in it, it’s a different story. The room is incredibly outdated: bed orientation was off/uncomfortable, pictures are crooked, tiles are broken, it’s just all around mediocre.

Speaking of mediocre, the food was very mediocre if not bad. The drinks were terrible. Also, we were about the only couple on the island and the bar consistently took 45 min to make us drinks that were pretty awful.

One of the worst parts of the stay was the fact that NO ONE waits on you. If you’re laying by the pool or beach, not one person will come to ask if you want anything to drink or eat, yet there were constantly tons of staff huddled in their corners (again there were not that many people on the island when we were staying).

Aside from the view, the only other pro was the staff was very friendly, but obviously they are improperly trained.

It seems like the ownership has tried to
make a resort while cutting tons of corners. This stay was the most expensive part of our trip and arguably the worst part of it. Would not recommend any hotels affiliated with Sunlight eco.

The location is beautiful and the potential to make this a 5 star property is there, but there is a serious lack in customer service and exceeding the customers needs. Not to mention multiple items in room and the resort that are broken/out of order. For a new resort this place needs a management company to come in a train the staff on the service that they should be providing, and complete a major revamp of many things that make this place seem more like a 20yr old resort. The list of issues with service and maintenance of the property are to long for me to list, but more easily put I will not be returning to this property and would be embarrassed to recommend it to others... which is really sad because it could be an amazing resort.

Total lack of professionalism.
We arrived at the hotel in the morning to start with the fact that even though everything had already been paid in advance, they did not have our reservation at all, so they wanted to give us a smaller room than we paid, of course we refused and unfortunately with a little nerve they managed to find the room that suited our order.

Although the driver who picked us up from the airport said it was free of charge but we found out that we were charged Pesos 1000 for a pickup from the airport.

Any trip to or from the city can only be made via hotel boats that depart only 4 times a day in hours that not reality ( 5:00am , 8:00am, 10:00 afther this time you need to wait how they said it " to the guest that supposed to arrive from the airport then we can have a boat to the hotel" so if you planinng to make a tour from town dont book it beacuse you will have to pay 12,000 peso for a priavte boat from the hotel (so they practicly force you to stay at the hotel or pay and but tours with the hotel ! ( latest boat back to the hotel need to be sceduhle by the quest whos just arriving from the airport so if they dont have any you must take the private boat again ) all they want to do and take is your money this way or another !!!
Therefore, anyone wishing to close a trip through an outside company and not through the hotel that start at 8:00 or ends at 17:00 to return to the hotel must take a separate private boat of the hotel for 12,000 pesos and that is until 16:00. (so you cant even make a tour beacuse the boats to the hotel finish at 16:00 again if they have people that arrive so they can split with you the boat (to not lose money)
After that hour, you're just stuck in town with no way back to the hotel. what a Joke !!!!!

Initially, we closed a trip with an outside company that we got recommended, but we found out that the hotel does not authorize outside boats to enter the island and so the outside company cannot pick us up and require you to pay 1000 pesos to the city through the hotel.

The only solution the hotel gave us was to close the trip through the hotel (otherwise there is no way back after 16:00 unless you want to pay 6000 for a return trip) and of course their trip costs 3500 pesos, while a far more extensive trip costs 1200-1500 pesos.

Beyond all this, of course, it is impossible to go anywhere in the evening because there are no boats and no external boats to enter the island.

The food does not taste very good and the wait time is exhausting

Joke hotel.
Funny answers from the supervisor who seems to have embarrassed her too. It is, beyond that, the views stunning and the sea amazing.

Anywhere but here.
The staff are undertrained.
The check-in time was supposed to be at 2 pm which gives the staff ample time to tidy up room since, as per usual, checkout time is 12pm. They gave us our room an hour late. Although the restaurants in the island serve decent meals, the wait staff is atrocious. After complaining, we were informed by the management that majority of the wait staff were just fillers from 'Unitop' a local bargain supermarket. They had people without any hospitality training do the waiting without any supervision. The kitchen is not fully stocked to accomodate the complete menu. Average wait time for the food is 1hr dine in or room service. On the security aspect: We lost an expensive item while dining at their restaurant. The management was not cooperative. We had asked them to review the cctv but 4 hours into the situation, they still did not have a copy of the cctv. The management boasted that they had multiple cctv's in the area, but after more than 4 hours of grueling wait for the footage, there was only 1 camera in the whole restaurant. Overall a horrible experience. The beach has jelly fish and the sad is filled with jagged pieces of rocks. If you wish to have a great time in coron, do not stay in this resort. Prior to booking with them, we checked the reviews which gave negative feedback to the establishment, those reviews were dated 2022 early , 2021 and 2020 so we expected that maybe theyve made improvements since then but to our dismay, the negative reviews were accurate, nothing has changed.

Costing more than double the best hotel in manila, we arrived 3pm, room not ready but you can have buffet lunch for Php1200. Room had one chair and no table (desk only), and a large empty space where it would've been. Only tea, coffee and sugar are free. All else you pay for. Five restaurants but you must make a reservation, and every visit only had a few people. The portable aircoolers in the Garden resto couldn't keep up so we ask to turn the ceiling fans on. No Sir, they are broken. All 12 of them?
At lunch I ordered a pizza. Sorry, Pizza's no available. Our reservation for dinner - steak not available at Steakhouse resto, so we reserved the Japanese resto. Sorry Sir, half of the menu is not avaiulable. That left us with 6 choices. Hopwever they insisted we make our order for dinner during our lunch so they can prepare. We booked for 7 and was told we needed to be out by 8. The only other customers also told similar stories to ours.
We hired a jet ski. Top speed 14kph for first 15min. When I complained, a secret key appeared and we could then do 45kph.
Bikes are free, but sorry sir, limited number only.
Every was provided on an economy scale to reduce hotel costs. The marketing gets you in and the price reflects a 7 star luxury but in reality it was 3 star amenities at best. Everything was geared to ensure economy for the management.
That said, it is a simply beautiful location and island. But value for money I would never go again.

Was not expecting much from Sunlight but they exceeded my expectatiins. The resort was just beautiful. The beaches were divine, fine white sand with clean ans clear Garbage Free Water, amazing reefs around the island, no need anymore to go far. Food was good, though there were some dishes that needed some tweaking. Staff were friendly and attentive. Wifi was a bit slow and not all areas covered but was not really an issue. The room we got, the Studio was spacious, clean and cool, beds were comfortable. Balcony gives you an amazing view of the sea. They also have a Gym, KTV, different Restaurants though you have to reserve for the Hotpot, Steak Room, Shabu Shabu and Teppanyaki Room. It was overall an immensely enjoyable stay!

I stayed here during the opening of their new Mangrove Restaurant. The whole concept of this restaurant is that everything is Filipino and all about educating the importance of Mangroves for the ecosystem of the Philippines. Think high end quality interpretations of cuisine from all around the country paired with some amazing locally crafted beer and liquor. Food was really tasty and well thought out. It was also very reasonably priced. You must try the beer of Coron Brewery too! Wow!

My Amihan villa on the water was really comfortable and peaceful. Unlike travellers in other reviews I had absolutely no problem with the room or contacting reception and guest services. They were attentive and more than happy to pick me up in a buggy and take me wherever I wanted to go.

They have a fully stocked diveshop with very professional dive staff. You can also get snorkel gear here and even rent a bike to explore the island and its many cafes and restaurants. Access to the sea or the amazing swimming pool with poolside bar was so easy and relaxing.

All in all my stay was short and sweet. I'd go back in a heart beat.
