We had difficulty finding the place since it was our first time in the area but the owner was very accommodating and met with us where we stayed put. Rooms are for budget conscious people. You can rent the whole place if group is big. Owner also chooses who she wishes to let in to stay if couples looking for short time or groups looking for drinking spree, they would need to look for someplace else. There is a barbecue place nearby that is good for dinner.

A great place to stay if you want to visit Enchanted River. It's just 30mins away from the hostel. There's a BBQ restaurant at the back where we enjoyed every dinner time. The room is small but enough to accommodate 4 pax, with ac and it's clean at a reasonable price. Ms Angelique, the host is very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and looking forward to visit again Hinatuan and stay at Marky's Hostel.

If youre planning to just have a place to stay overnight before heading to enchanted river, Markys Hostel is definitely a good place to go to. Their Fan room for two will cost you around 400 pesos. And their ac room will cost you 800 pesos. They have mini store where you can buy things along the way. The place is easily accessible, you can just tell the tricycle drivers from Hinatuan Terminal that you'll go to Markys Hostel and they already know it.

We are backpackers from Manila and landed through Davao airport. Travelled to Hinatuan via Bus bound to Butuan and get off at San Franz then travelled to Hinatuan through a van (we didn't catch the last trip at 8PM). Nanay Lumen (the owner) was very helpful in giving directions on how to get to the hotel. We came late at night as we didn't expect that travel from Davao would take that long due to the stop overs. She and her husband waited for us until we were settled in. She even recommended a tricycle driver for our tour the next day. Her husband woke up early in the morning to prepare our "breakfast" as we have to leave early for Tinuy-an falls followed by Enchanted River. The rooms are kind of basic yet clean so not bad for the price of PHP1000/night. The room she gave us is enough for 6 persons so beds were cramped up inside the room. We have our own toilet and bath but there's a common comfort room outside so if you are in a hurry you may use it. If you plan to stay longer and prefer to cook your own food, you can ask Nanay Lumen and I believe there's a charge of PHP200 as the sign says. There's a mini-store inside the hostel where you can buy coffee portion packs, crisps and what not. They also sell souvenir items. Check out is at 12NN. Nothing much to expect about the rooms but enough for a short stay. What made me give them an Excellent Rating is the owner's care towards the guests at least from our experience as we were the only guests during that time. Our itinerary was quite tight so she had to remind the habal-habal driver to brought us back in time as the last trip to Butuan is at 6PM. Note that Nanay Lumen only charged us 1 night for the room even if we checked out at around 4PM. CAUTION: If traveling back to Davao or Butuan, bus is the preferred mode of public transportation as it is a lot safer and comfortable just make sure to allot time for your travel. There are a lot of curves/blind spot and highways are not well-lit during the night. People we have asked in the terminal suggested to take the bus as most accidents involve vans. "Barkers" will sway you to take the van as it is faster but please don't unless there are no other choice (i.e. if you miss the last trip). RECOMMENDATION TO OWNER: Consider renovating the rest rooms as the one where we have stayed in looks rather dilapidated.

The hostel is very basic with a shared bathroom and a kitchen for all their guests. But what really made this place special is the hospitality of its owners, Nanay Lumen, and Tatay Toto. Their kindness made this experience far beyond my previous hostel experiences. They will make you feel like you are part of their family, so much so that you will hardly miss home. They were very helpful even when I was still on the road, traveling my way to Hinatuan. They guided me on how I could get to their hostel via call and text. During my stay, they recommend a good habal-habal driver for my Enchanted River tour, advised me to always take care wherever I go, always checked up on me even I was out touring, and even introduced me to a contact of theirs so I could get discounts for my Britania Islands tour. They also kept in touch with me until I arrived back in Manila just to make sure I’m safe. I always remember this couple with fondness, especially my long and lovely conversations with Nanay Lumen.
