The price was reasonable at £137 for two weekend evenings, room only basis in March. However there were quite a few points were improvements could be made. Our three biggest issues with our stay, were as follows:

1) Not enough power points in the room. Had to unplug a lamp, the clock radio, or the TV, in order to plug the kettle or hair dryer and not to mention charging a mobile phone.

2) Not enough light (very dark indeed), no ceiling light at all.

3) Noise - our room 'Grey Jenet', in particular the beds headboard, backed onto the main door of the block. We were woken by a loud bang, pretty much every time someone came in or out of the block, due to the noise of the main door slamming. As we were only here 2 nights, and had already settled ourselves for the first, we didn't make a fuss. If we ever returned and this room were offered - we would stay elsewhere.

4) The pillows were the most uncomfortable we have EVER experienced. Far, far, far too soft, and the extras in the wardrobe, were no different so didn't even have an alternative. This should definitely be looked into.

5) The bathroom mirror was a little distance from the front of the sink, and no shaving mirror provided??

6) The arm chair provided in the room, really does need to go, as this was very uncomfortable to sit in.

7) No real space to make a cup of tea or coffee? Had to either use what should have been the dressing table or a pull out draw under the TV, which meant kneeling on the floor to make a cuppa.

8) Although we appreciate the building itself as being very old - there 'are' ways to bring modern necessities in, without losing character & charm.

On the plus side, the bed itself was fairly comfortable, the room was warm, the shower was powerful/hot, and the WiFi reception was good throughout. Planes going over were not a problem at all, and the hotel grounds were nice & well kept.

Would only stay here again if we were guaranteed not to get the same room & could check the items above first.

Regards

We were impressed with being able to book in early. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Overall, this is a lovely place to stay in a nice location with good pubs within walking distance

The room quality was good but a little warm for us during the night
The hotel itself is in a beautiful building with lots of character. The thing we liked least was the bar area in the hotel was limited

This was a return after a number of years to a favourite. It was excellent all the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The room called Willow was fine. Well decorated,, clean and warm. The receptionists on both arrival and departure were very kind, one actually showed us our room we had stayed in before called “ The Beams” it had continued the theme it had before and was interesting to see again. The dinner was excellent, a good range of choice and the fish dish superb. Breakfast too offered plenty of choice and was again well prepared. We will certainly return.

Dear Guest, Its always wonderful to see previous guest return and we are delighted to hear that your recent stay with us was as enjoyable as in previous stays. I am glad to hear that you found the room 'Willow' comfortable and that you were also able to see previous rooms such as 'Beams' in which you have stayed before; the feature rooms defiantly have something different to offer. Your comments with regards to your dinner and breakfast were also greatly appreciated. We do hope that your return in the near future. Kind regards Katie

We had a “buy a gift” voucher for our silver wedding and 50th birthdays so were looking forward to something special.
However, we were disappointed. Room was ok and clean but the bed was hard with springs that pinged every time you moved. The radiator couldn’t be
turned off so it pumped out heat all night and the big window
couldn’t be left open all night as we were on the ground floor. The bathroom was in need of maintenance - messy sealant everywhere, stained grout, mouldy ceiling and a net curtain with a big hole in it.
Breakfast was poor. No range of fresh fruit, only yogurt available was toffee, sausages didn’t taste of meat at all, scrambled eggs and tomatoes were sloppy and the fresh orange juice taked like it had been watered down. We enquiried about the hash browns at 8:55 we were told there would be no more despite breakfast being served until 9:30! The breakfast serving staff were great, particularly Patricia, who understood how to interact with customers and she had a lovely manner.
To be honest we have had a more comfortable bed, a better maintained bathroom and a nicer breakfast at a £29 a night Premier Inn.

Location was good for where we wished to visit which was brighton.

My very disabled Daughter Angelica and I stayed in disabled friendly Courtyard Cottage.
The room is spacious and pleasantly furnished, bed very comfortable with white cotton bedding.
The bathroom is ideal for disabled person, spacious, accessible shower with plenty of handrails for support.
The staff involved were exceedingly helpful, I wish I new their names!
You certainly made a difference in Angelica's life. After 6 months stay in hospital this was her 1st short break in two years. She was very happy.
We will certainly come back!

Business trip for 3 employees, (MD, Operations Manager, Technical Support Assistant from overseas.

Hotel went above and beyond on every aspect, arranging taxi from the airport to the hotel and return journey from the hotel to the airport.

All the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, will definitely book again and also visit on a personal basis.

Had a change of our first room as it was quite worn with carpets and walls. Was very spacious with not a lot of furniture, so didn’t feel very comfortable. The lack of WiFi for work didn’t help. Thankfully they changed our room! Second room was more modern and enjoyable.
The location isn’t so great if you’re looking to do things during the day with Brighton being the closest place at an hour away.
If you’re after a quite stay away from the city then probably for you!

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us . Please accept our apologies regarding the standard of the furnishings in your first room on arrival , I am glad to read that we were able to rectify this for you and that the second room was more suitable making your stay pleasant and enjoyable. We are currently looking to refurbish some of our bedrooms this year so I do hope should you return you will able to benefit from this. With regard to location we are situated in the rural village of Rusper a beautiful and quite area. Brighton as you say is approximately an hour away however Horsham is the closest town located 15- 20 minutes away which offers an array of facilities , bars and restaurants. Thank you again for your feedback and we do hope that you will look to return to us again in the future . Kind regards Amanda Maglennon Reservations

We had contact with three members of staff, your wonderful receptionist and the two male members of staff who were in the restaurant on the evening of Wednesday 5 February, none of whose names unfortunately we cannot remember. We were celebrating our 54th Wedding Anniversary and these three members helped make our stay so memorable. The amazing friendly welcome, the wonderful service, the careful attention to detail, the spotless comfortable room and the excellent choices of menu, all for a very competitive price certainly made this a day and night to remember. I think person or persons behind the scenes, who we and probably most others never meet is the person responsible for the recruitment and training of such first class staff. Our thanks also go to that person.
