Service
Dream Paradise Mountain Resort is the very first resort of its kind on the island, inspired by the neighboring lush green environment, the surrounding beaches, the untouched islets and the underwater wonder of the region. Confined to the warmth and generosity of spirit so unique to MIMAROPA culture, while allowing nature to reign supreme. The genuine and heartfelt service creates the ambiance of a welcoming private home where guests can relax and rejuvenate in beautiful natural surrounds. Located in a secluded coconut grove overlooking the bay, the resort is located in a slope facing the sunset of Panay islands. The top view provides guests a spectacular view, while other facilities include resort club, swimming pool, outdoor BBQ garden, outdoor lounge and a restaurant situated in picturesque locations around the resort. Step out onto a private terrace, surrounded by lush tropical island gardens and only a few skips from your very own natural forest. Our rooms wrap you in 360 degree view of natural air comfort, with bed type choices of your desire, stone flooring, marble bath fixtures, hardwood accents and indigenous touches of Filipino decor; you'll never forget you're in a truly magical island setting. Our rooms offer direct access to the resort's tranquil garden and pool. Offering spacious space to unwind, our combine studio style room that includes living area as well as a kitchenette, which invite you to truly make yourself at home in our island paradise. Cool marble, terracotta and wood, all bathed in the warmth of the island's natural sunlight and the inviting touch of cool cottons on the plush king-sized bed. Getting there: From Manila: sea: ferry Batangas – Romblon; air: Manila – Tablas Airport Tugdan (TBH), ferry San Augustin – Romblon. Regional Highway 305, Romblon – Sawand – Sablayan, 8.7km (1km hillside off the main road). Malay Airport (MPH) Caticlan or Kalibo (KLO) on Panay need at least 1 day for ferry & road transport.

The promising name got our attention and we visited the resort on a bike tour for evaluation without accomodation only. View over rice fields, entrance decoration, garden & swimming pool, façades, marble zoo & playground provide the impressive & inviting ambiance for a stay. The external shape & beauty have potential for 5 star rating. We liked to see a room for couples. We had cold drinks and a nice talk with the female manager under a sun umbrella at the pool. We were told, the growing resort currently gives accommodation for up to 300 guests in 26 rooms shared in dormitory style. Several halls make it an efficient location for effective conference, parties & ceremonies. Kitchen GF & stuff FF in a small house poolside. We were invited to make pictures. For mobility rental scooter or motorbike recommended. Poor WIFI Signal. Visitor’s fee to Resort 25P/P. This huge capacity resort was not a place for us.

So I had arrived on Romblon Island and 1st thing I did was to check-in. DPMR, as they called it, was a little more in land than I expected. Nonetheless, the place makes a great first impression, despite the fact that when I visited, some areas were under renovation. It's very charming and seemed sparkly to me.
And so I got escorted to my room, a quaint standard that could accommodate 3. It had 1 queen bed and 1 single bed, cable TV, AC and a standard bathroom with hot and cold water. Overall, it was clean, ambient, and cozy even :)
I had misunderstood bike rentals to be for bicycle rentals, and it was one of the reasons I chose this place. However, I soon found out that "bike rental" meant motorcycle rental. It was kind of a "'doh!" moment for me, but I think that the resort could clarify how they advertise this, other travelers could easily make the same mistake, I think.
The sunset view kept me occupied as I found that I couldn't go exploring that afternoon. Tricycle rides would be difficult to come by as the night approached, advised the resort lady and I didn't know how to drive a motorcycle. She actually offered to drive me but I decided against it and just have some drinks and have a dip in the pool instead. And then... it rained :/ Last option was to stay in and enjoy the room.
The TV set wasn't set up well, so my night in didn't go so smoothly at first. The resort staff was quick to fix it, to their credit. But on this part, the service would've been great if I had been in the loop with the serviceman, he didn't speak to me. The serviceman and front office lady talked among themselves, and I was, well... just there. They didn't tell me how long it would take, didn't apologize or give any assurances. They actually just left me there, and I figured the TV was fixed because the images started to show.
It was raining again in the morning, I felt almost defeated since this was the last stop for my week long trip and I wanted it to count! Ms Joy has visited me over breakfast after I had inquired about the availability of an ATM in town. She'd made very helpful suggestions on how I could spend my day. I had taken my chances and went to the beach Ms Joy had recommended, Bon Bon beach, where there's a sandbar that leads to an island-mountain nearby. Thankfully the weather cleared up and I had enjoyed the beach to my liking :)
I went back to the resort to check out before heading to explore the town. It was an easy check out and they had even given me a souvenir to remember Romblon by. After that, I was shuttled out to the nearest tricycle stop free of charge.
To be fair I had only spent a night, and I would've liked to have experienced more of the facilities. They had karaoke, a bar, a spa (closed during my visit) and a charming swimming pool. Overall, I still think DPMR is a gem of a place though it needs a bit of polishing.
