My parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and we all went to Kohlswa Herrgård. The experience was top-notch from the first email until we finished dessert, strolled by the pretty orangery and headed back to Stockholm. Through email we decided on a great three course dinner that we knew would fit everybody in our party. All of my questions and wishes were heard and acted upon promptly. The dinner was superb! The staff was charming, witty, and very helpful. If you are not in the neighbourhood - get in your car and find this neighbourhood.
One of the houses in this estate is a bit famous from a Swedish refurbishment TV show so we popped by for lunch while passing Kolsva. I would say that the lunch buffet was really good considering the amount of guests here in the middle of nowhere. The food hall was elegant and the staff very friendly. Price for lunch (120 sek or so) reflected value well. On the down side was the reason we came here: to check out the estate, but the area was full of private property signs so we could not wander around the premises. One could also argue that the main building is a bit worn down exterior wise. This is the kind of estate people dream about owning, fully refurbishing and living grand in (or turning into a hip confrerence centre/spa) Yes, I would recommend this place for lunch if you dont expect something extraordinary and happen to be around the area. …
This is a fantastic place to stay if you want something historical in a great surrounding (17th Century). This hotel is a living piece of Swedish industrial heritage set in the beautiflul grounds. The rooms are beautiful furnished and every room is different. If you are a tall person, than you should book a room downstairs as the upper floor has very low ceilings (ca 1.75 metres) due to the fact that people used to be very small in the old days.
What a wonderful place with excellent lunch and dinner. Comfortable rooms with lectus beds. Just perfect for a countryside trip. Very friendly staff!
