At the foot of a hill — in the shadow of Ireland’s most iconic medieval site, the Rock of Cashel — stands another architectural masterpiece, the five-star Cashel Palace. Built in 1728 by Sir Edward Lovett Pearce, the architect who designed the Parliament House in Dublin, this red brick manor was once the residence of Ireland’s archbishops. It is a brilliant blend of classicism and sophistication, with a façade that hides behind its symmetrical layout a world of surprises: a majestic colonnaded hall, walls covered in detailed wood panelling, staircases with handrails carved in the shape of candy canes, and rooms that seem to have been taken from a fairy tale. With its English-style gardens, comfortable sofas warmed by the cosy fire of the bar, and a spa bathed in light, Cashel Palace takes its guests on a magical journey. It is an idyllic refuge where you can recharge your batteries before plunging into the area’s Celtic history or wandering through the enchanting moorland.

The Cashel Palace Hotel, nestled in a central location near the Rock of Cashel, offers guests a charming ambiance with its cozy fireplaces and equestrian theme. The service receives high marks for being exceptionally warm and attentive.
While some travelers consider the hotel overpriced, the luxurious amenities, including a spa and fine dining, along with the spotless and comfortable rooms, often justify the expense. However, there are occasional remarks about the rooms being on the smaller side and noise disturbances.

Detailed Reviews
For my birthday my husband brings me to a mystery location every year. His choice for this year was out of this world.
We were greeted on arrival by very helpful staff, our luggage was brought to the room where a welcome letter and a little cake awaited us.
I was impressed by the tasteful balance of old and new elements in furnishing the room. It felt cosy and home from home. Proper reading lights are part of the headboard and the coffee making facility pleased me very much. The choice of fabrics was especially beautiful: not a shred of chintziness in sight, fresh blues coupled with shades of cream and accents of gold. The little touches made all the difference: A living plant on the desk, lights on the moment one hangs the key beside the door on arrival, music playing when entering the room and a fridge tucked away in a sideboard filled with refreshments.
We ate dinner in the Buttery. This was another highlight of our stay here. The menu offered an exciting choice of dishes which reflected locally sourced ingredients. My sweetbreads with morels followed by goats cheese filled pasta pockets with truffles were divine. Sadly, the dessert of strawberry with white chocolate must have been created by a different chef on a different planet since all it had to offer was an impressive look, it was otherwise devoid of any flavour or sweetness other than a herbal basil note. A disappointing end to an otherwise memorable dinner.
The Cashel palace is a new star in Irish hospitality.

During my recent stay in The Cashel Palace Hotel, I enjoyed first class service and a lovely warm welcome from a thoughtful, caring and very pleasant staff. The foyer exudes a lovely cosy feel the minute you step inside - with warm open fires to greet guests. Breakfast in the Queen Anne Room is served in a very relaxed atmosphere and dinner in The Bishop's Buttery is a dining experience extraordinaire. The hotel, whilst in the town of Cashel, is extremely quite due to its long elegant avenue guaranteeing a peaceful nights rest. Adriaan Bartels and his team can be ever so proud of fruits of their hard work.

This is our first visit to Cashel Palace Hotel which proved to be a success. The recently restored and refurbished building has been completed very elegantly and tastefully. We stayed in the main house which is being maintained to at high standard especially in relation to cleanliness. The location of the Hotel is ideal in that the front driveway leads directly into the town and the lovely gardens at the back overlook the Rock of Cashel. The Spa also overlooks the gardens and is positioned well. The recent spell of glorious weather allowed eating out on the terrace as well as drinks in the evening before dinner providing an oasis of calm. The staff are all very friendly with a professional approach to enable guests to get the best out of the Hotel and surrounding area. We received a very warm welcome on arrival with an efficient check in procedure enabling us to settle in quickly. The choice of restaurants is a bonus especially dining in the Buttery which has a relaxing ambience is of a high standard both with the quality and presentation of the food and excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble to the staff which would definitely encourage a return visit.

Just back from a one night stay in The Cashel Palace Hotel. We stayed in the main building in a deluxe room overlooking The Rock of Cashel. The room was nice with a very comfortable bed bathroom very nice , tea and coffee available in the room but milk has to be ordered from reception. Pool is rather small with I think maybe just 5 loungers I was a bit disappointed as several of the loungers looked liked they had been used towels left on top therefore no choice but to sit on a chair not very relaxing , eventually a member of staff cleared the loungers I feel this should be a priority as it can make the area look very untidy.
We dined in The Buttery which was fantastic the service and food were 100% it is definitely the place to dine I only wish I lived closer to Cashel so I could dine there more often. Overall we had a very enjoyable overnight stay.

From the moment we entered the lobby of The Cashel Palace in Tipperary it was obvious that this would be a special experience. The magnificent restoration with a warm regal vibe coupled with an amazing welcome from every member of staff signaled a very enjoyable stay. The Room was impressive with everything one would expect in a 5 star but the little personal touches made every guest feel special. We dined at the Bishop's Buttery and no fault could be found, excellent food, excellent service and Michelin will definitely be 'staring' this restaurant. This type of experience only happens when Management and The Team combine to ensure superb service at every level and that is what happened - Well Done to Adrian and all the Team. We will be back.

Myself and my daughter went for a spa weekend.
Our room was in the garden wing which was really nice, very clean and came with its own Christmas tree.
We had dinner in the fine dining restaurant on Friday night the food was good but people were whispering rather than talking, after dinner, we had a few drinks in the residence bar and everyone was very friendly even a sing song broke out.
Breakfast was really good, freshly cooked and the waiting staff were very good and friendly.
The Spa was really disappointing I’m afraid - the waiting area before your treatment was in the pool area, all beds, I think there was only 3 were being used so no where to lay down and the heat in the area is not suitable before a treatment, so we ended up waiting in the dressing room before the therapist came to bring us to the treatment rooms.
After the treatment we were brought to the relaxing room, which was tiny only 4 beds anything but relaxing everyone too close, this area needs to be bigger and more beds.
Just to say the treatments were good and the staff in the spa were very good.
The staff were very friendly

We stayed here for three nights in January and unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations of a 5 star hotel.
On arrival, we got allocated a small room in the eves of the main building, with a bath which had shower inbuilt to bath! Not very 5 star! My husband spoke to manager, and we were able to pay an extra charge and upgraded to a better room. The beds are very uncomfortable- very hard mattress- but the new room was more spacious, so worth extra money. It’s hard to know from website what different rooms are like.
My overall problem with the hotel is that all the bars and lounge areas were so cold, unless you got spot by fire. I am happy to pay 20e for glass of wine but I expect to be warm and not have to wear my coat. It was so bad we actually left hotel and went to local pub for drinks.
The first night we ate in mikey Ryan’s, the service was good but food was just average. Then we had terrible nights sleep as fire alarm went off and was on and off for an hour. I understand these things happen but there was no apology from management in morning or no acknowledgement that peoples sleep was disturbed.
The spa was lovely, however the main pool is freezing, it was much better last day, but with it opening to outside, you can’t sit in it long. Also in spa a few of the fixture and fittings are v rusted, not ageing well given it’s only open since the summer. Finally on our first day, the spa manager asked me on arrival if I have a phone, I said I did, instead asking me to put it in locker, she confiscated it and put it in a drawer with other confiscated phone!!! Like been in school!!
We really enjoyed the meal on bishops buttery, we have met sommelier Farrah in chapter one and Adare and she is very knowledgeable, the food was lovely and was highlight of the trip.
In summary, if they could heat the building better, make the service more five star, then this could be lovely hotel. When you go to hotel you want to immerse yourself not have to go to local town for drinks. I would recommend go to Adare instead If your looking for 5 star service.

We had a wonderful overnight stay. The service was of a high quality whilst remaining friendly, the facilities appear to have left no expense or quality spared and our room was spotless, peaceful and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed dinner in the Bishop's Buttery and our Spa experience- they really do make it an experience, with really good therapists.

I've been to cashel palace now on 3 occasions, once for afternoon tea, once breakfast and finally to stay for a local staycation!
I would rate the afternoon tea 3/5. I've had much better in similar hotels. The room it's served in is small and was crowded and noisy the day we were there. For the price you would expect exceptional food but the sandwiches were standard and the cakes weren't memorable. I've had afternoon tea in numerous 5 star establishments and didn't get that 5 star feeling from service or setting.
The breakfast I attended for was also a 3/5 unfortunately. Staff did agree to accommodate us by phone the previous day but on arrival I was told I couldn't be seated as breakfast was for residents only. Some minor embarrassment and waiting ensued wholich I didn't appreciate given our prior effort to ensure we could eat. Breakfast is average, pastries are mass produced mini varieties. French toast was very nice.
Finally, I'd give our stay 4/5. I cannot fault the room. One of the nicest Ive stayed in. Gorgeous interiors, comfortable and cosy. The complimentary snacks in the room were a nice touch as was the welcome treat.
We did not eat in the hotel as the buttery price was beyond our reach and having been to mikey Ryan's numerous times and finding it only so so we chose to leave but this was a big draw back for me as I like to done where im staying. However my biggest issue with this was the spa receptionist who shamed us the next day for not availing of the superior experience that apparently is the buttery. We brushed it off but she continued to push her point so we stated we'd have to come back to try it to end the tedious conversation. She then replied that the time to try it was when we're staying and pushed the point once again that we had missed out on a once in a lifetime experience which really I'm not sure that we did the style of dining not being our preference in the first instance. I really didn't appreciate this snobbery from a spa receptionist. The same lady later scolded me for leaving a shower on (I thought it turned off automatically.)
The spa area is very nice but the outdoor pool is freezing so it is not possible to linger and enjoy the view which I found disappointing. The relaxation room is also very small.
The price of cocktails was exorbitant but the girl serving them was very nice and I enjoyed the little bars cosiness.
The large queue and therefore wait at checkout was rather tedious and I note there was no offer to assist with our bags on checkout.
All in all we did enjoy our stay but should I bd spending that amount ofonry again, I would avail of one of my preferedd 5 star establishments.

I am very critical having spent many years in hospitality & now enjoy travelling and visiting hotels in many countries. Today, my daughter & I stopped off without a reservation at the Cashel Palace Hotel. We wanted coffee at least and maybe a scone if possible. Well, it was a perfect beautiful window in our busy day from the moment we stepped inside the front door to the time we left. We ate the most amazing delicious mini warm freshly made scones with cream and preserves and a tray of mini patisseries. The coffee was to die for. It was 'real' coffee. It smelt, tasted and lasted ....of coffee. The staff were friendly yet not intrusive and so highly trained. The presence of management made us feel so looked after. There has been some comments in the press about over pricing here but in my opinion...'If you cannot afford the car, do not go into the showroom' The pricing is for the overall experience that you are given here. This is truly a special diamond in the rock of Cashel....there are many stones out there for the others.
