We booked when the hotel had their 25% discount offer for their early January sale, so we decided to treat ourselves by booking the Junior Suite which looked amazing.
The room was even nicer when we got there - it was such a huge room and everything about the decor was stunning! The room had a large bathroom with two sinks and a huge shower. A really comfy, large bed with a large ottoman which we found useful for our bags. Also had two wardrobes - perfect for couples! and a large lounge area with a fridge, kettle etc.
We particularly loved the Bathtub and pamper area (near the bed), which was also equipped with a Dyson hairdryer. The room also had a Nespresso machine but we couldn’t get it to turn on (we think there was a plug for this somewhere but we were unable to find it).
The breakfast in the hotel was lovely, as was the dinner menu. If you have dessert, you need to try the Hazelnut Cup!
We can’t wait to come back. 😌

This hotel was everything you would want for a short break away. It was exceptionally clean. I was extremely impressed by the efforts to reduce the risk from Covid-19. The dinner tables even had hand sanitizer on them and a lady was spotted cleaning all doors etc. We had our evening meal and breakfast at the hotel and the food was very good. The hotel is a good distance from the town centre but we had a car so it was not a problem.

The facilities were clean, quality, tasteful and what you would expect from a standard USA hotel: beds were comfortable, linen soft and plentiful, bath towels large, shower was warm and relaxing with decent water pressure. This location was convenient; it was easy to get to and right next to a SuperValu, and parking was plentiful. I will also add, that it is not far from an electric charging point, which was helpful as my husband walked back from getting our car connected to charge overnight.
The most impressive part of our stay was the staff, especially led by Chloe. We had driven out of our way from our Dublin destination to stay here, so I was a tired momma when we arrived. Chloe observed this and immediately started engaging with my kids, which gave me a minute to breathe. Of course, she was multitasking to check us in, so she didn’t delay our check-in, rather, she masterfully lifted any pressure from our fatigue and gave us an engaging welcome. When we told her we needed to leave early, before the breakfast that we had paid for was even open, she kindly offered to pack us take away bags, and arranged all the details for us. And when I mentioned the need to find flip flops as a bathroom shoe for my son, despite the town being shut down at 10 pm, she had house slippers delivered to our hotel rooms as a substitute plan. She was an incredible ambassador for the hotel and also for Ireland. Her grace and kindness were poignant and memorable. She is a talent that needs to be cloned!
After we left the hotel, our teenager thought he had left his watch in the bathroom. We were hours away, so called the hotel to check. Imagine my pleasure when Chloe again a answered the phone. We explained the situation of the missing watch. Chloe said, “leave it with me,” which normally means “you’ll never hear from me again;” however, as we had learned to expect from Chloe, she followed through. She investigated with housekeeping and called us back to report in a timely manner. She was efficient and thorough. We have a great impression of this hotel because of our interactions with Chloe. Thank you Chloe, and your entire staff who responded and worked under Chloe’s direction to make our stay so positive.

A couple of things to note, so you have a realistic viewpoint, there was no mini-fridge. Water pressure was on the weak side of normal. And as is typical in Ireland, there is no AC so open windows provide cooling—we had no issue with temperature. there was minimal noise that came through the windows as well, so our stay was not disrupted by the roadways nearby.

Stayed for two nights in the Master Suite. Shower and floors and some counter tops were dirty and we had to ask for them to be cleaned. The Shower tray was cleaned subsequently but that’s it. We went to the local supervalu and bought antiseptic wipes to clean the surfaces ourselves. Bed was spotless though. Food was mediocre and there’s no restaurant as such, just the bar so lunch and dinner served in the same bar which was disappointing. Staff service in the bar was fine but the Breakfast service wasn’t great.
Definitely would not recommend this hotel especially not the master suite if you want a nice break away. So many nicer places for less money.
If you do go bring your own antiseptic wipes!

Responded Aug 4, 2020
Dear Guest, Thank you for you feedback on your recent stay with us and I am genuinely sorry that some issues caused a negative impact on your experience with us. Our Master Suite is a superb asset for the Hotel split over two levels and I am sorry that after the facilities in the suite were tested by our team prior to your arrival that the shower tray and some surfaces did not receive the necessary attention required. Our dining facility is an all-day easy dining Brasserie offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and the food offering has been very well received since we opened last November. That said, obviously it wasn't for you and that is perfectly fine. Our usual breakfast buffet operation whereby our guests would normally queue and select what they want themselves at their own convenience is no longer in place as recommended by all Hospitality and Health experts so our team bring everything our guests require to the table which may be the reason it may took longer than would normally associate with breakfast service so again I apologise for any inconvenience. I personally drafted a letter to all guests to advise of some operational changes to our 'norm' such as table service breakfast instead of buffets, advising of peak breakfast periods and so forth. I am aware that we did cover the cost of your dinner as a gesture of goodwill and as an apology for any inconvenience you experienced. Feedback is so important and as much as I appreciate the many positive comments we receive on this particular forum I also remain positive if the reverse is the case. For a guest such as yourself to take the time to communicate what went well and what they feel should have been better is so valuable to us as it undoubtedly will improve us as a team and what service we provide to our guests. I do hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back to Fairways sometime in the future. Thank you for your custom and your feedback. Kind Regards, Andrew

Booked tayto park stay. Initially happy with check-in and nice modern room. Really good day until we ate in the brasserie! Awful 20 min wait to order then another 50 minute wait Minimum for our food to come, with two young kids. The food was ok in the end maybe a little expensive for what it was the kids fish goujons was one larger strip of bredded fish with the skin still on was side. Garlic mayo tasted like butter? Asked twice for a refill of water which didn't show up, so we were left drinking our kids water with our meal (not pleasant). We watched the same waitresses walk up to other customers drinking alcohol and asking if thed like another drink, so maybe theve been asked to push sales. We had to wave frantically at staff to get there attention. When we finally got to pass on our complaint to waitress she laughed, then we were overcharged when given the bill. Issues weren't addressed so we were left very disappointed. (Decided to go to SuperValu across the carpark for our desert and ate it in our room. Breakfast was a little better because of selection of fruit cereals and cooked food and the waitress was friendly. However a long wait again on cooked breakfast so kids again got bored and where full of toast by the time it came (at least 30-40 minutes). So they didn't have any hot food in the end. Kids were playing in the bedroom (hide and seek) and my daughter came from under the table covered in dust. I would have expected a higher standard of cleaning with covid and not just the sight spots of room. The room was absolutely sweltering at night! I had little sleep tossing and turning, no Aircon available, we were given a fan that helped a little (but was then worried about what dust it would be blowing around)

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us at Fairways and I am pleased that our location was convenient for you and your family to enjoy the fabulous Tayto park. I trust a super day was had by all! I am sorry that you experienced some delays to your service at meal times and I can appreciate that with young children it can be a challenge to ensure they are kept occupied during the wait, so thank you for your patience. With Covid in mind we have a full programme of protocols and procedures called 'Caring for You' and some of those are more obvious than others such as screening in dining areas, social distancing, PPE for our team and so forth with the view of ensuring everyone on site, guests and team members, are safe and feel safe. Attention to detail is of the upmost importance and I am sorry for any areas that you experienced that did not reach the levels that we all expect. No excuses offered but simply an admission that clearly some areas of your stay did not reach the levels of expectation and for that I am sorry. I want to thank you for providing this valuable feedback and I am confident that should you return to stay with us once more some time in the future that your overall experience will be a positive one. Kind Regards, Andrew

Very disappointing. We had previously been for lunch and expected better. I made a reservation for Brunch. The first issue was that there were nice sheltered pods, and as it was a bit breezy, we asked could we sit in one of them as most of them were empty, and they said no as they were reserved. We had booked online, and nowhere does it provide an option to select a pod? A couple arrived 5 minutes after us and were seated in a pod, with the majority of the pods remaining empty. We were there for nearly 90 minutes, and during all that time, only one other couple arrived and were seated in a pod with most remaining empty, so somewhat confused where were the phantom reservations? The next issue was that the glass tabletop had been wiped with a wet cloth and not dried off, so covered in noticeable water stains and looked dirty.

We ordered two brunches with Tea. My husband ordered the black pudding and scrambled egg, and I ordered the Eggs and Bacon. Our Tea arrived 15 minutes before our food! When the food arrived itself, they had given me two boiled eggs instead of the fried eggs on the menu, and not even a spoon to eat the eggs? In any event, I asked for the eggs to be replaced with fried eggs. Apart from that, the bacon was rock hard, and by the time the fried eggs arrived, the bacon had become cold. The fried eggs were greasy and tasted like they were fried in the same grease used for frying the bacon. My husband’s food, on the other hand, was tasty. The waitress who took the order and served us was lovely and was quite apologetic about the eggs. Overall not worth the €27 we paid. We, therefore, cancelled an outstanding reservation for six people for Dinner.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to dine with us at The Brasserie in Fairways and for taking time to provide some feedback on your experience. Our outside dining pods are certainly causing some interest which is great to see and I am sorry that you did not get the opportunity to dine specifically in a pod on your most recent visit. Unfortunately like many other outlets we take bookings in good faith and make plans accordingly but should a party not make good of their reservation and fail to show without notice then I can understand when someone who is onsite like yourself for example, and has been informed that something is booked and see's no-one there, that this would cause some resentment and disappointment. Fair enough. It is disappointing to learn that you did not enjoy the rest of your meal experience with us and I apologise for that. Our food is of a very high and consistent standard which is evident by feedback received from our guests on a regular basis and I am sure that should you return to visit us again in future you will find that for yourself. That said, our aim is to provide good food and service on time every time and feedback from yourself on your experience will help us to ensure that this is achieved on a more consistent basis. Thank you once more for taking time to pass on your feedback and we wish to welcome you back some time soon. Kind Regards, Andrew Walker General Manager

We booked a 2 night stay for the Fairways via Pigsback.com. The deal included bed and breakfast, 20€ dining credit and a late 1pm checkout. Despite the pandemic, we felt really safe & clean and the room was lovely and spacious. The staff were so helpful and couldn’t have accommodated us anymore!
The meal in The Brasserie restaurant was just something else! The service was fast and the food was amazing. The crispy wings to start were so tasty and the beef and steak were for mains were cooked to perfection. We also requested room service for our breakfast and this was delivered at the time we had asked for and it was delicious. A brilliant 2 days away & we couldn’t have asked for more. We will definitely be back 😊.

Stayed at Fairways on their Tayto Park deal. The hotel is located 45mins from Tayto Park, 60mins from Dublin and 60mins from Belfast, making it a very useful location to base yourself/family for moving around.

We stayed for one night in room 010. The room has been recently renovated and has all the usual amenities (TV, hairdryer, safe, phone etc). The bathroom had a really good walk in shower.

We had dinner & breakfast in the Brasserie. Reading some of the recent reviews prior to arriving, had left me apprehensive on what sort of service we would receive. However, drinks orders/delays aside (only one staff member on table service, rushed off feet), I couldn't fault the staff's friendliness, professionalism and effort during our time there. Both dinner & breakfast were enjoyed by all. We were looked after by a very courteous young man at breakfast (James?) and he couldn't do enough for us ⭐

Would stay here again. If the Tayto Park deal is on again, it's a certainty.

The Fairways hotel has recently been rebuilt and provided the perfect setting for a birthday treat. The stay was highly enjoyable from start to finish which included a very spacious and well-appointed double room, a superbly cooked three course meal served by very attentive staff, a wonderful Irish breakfast served both hot and freshly cooked and a complimentary late check out. I would happily return and have no hesitation in recommending this new hotel to anyone.

My partner bought me a voucher last year for a two night stay for my birthday and due to covid we could had to reschedule to November 2021
When we arrived we had an Executive King Guestroom with breakfast and evening meal booked and we got put into a small, dark room at the very end of the corridor on the ground floor. When we walked into the room we could not hear ourselves speak or think due to the excessively loud noise of the extractor fan in the bathroom, we tried to turn off the fan every way possible even asked at reception but we were told there were no maintenance staff on site so there was nothing they could do. We requested another room on the second floor and it was average, the highlight of the room was the bathroom. No way of turning down/off the heating and the room was overly warm and clammy, windows barely opened to allow for any cool air to come in.
Our evening meal in the restaurant was lovely and the staff went above and beyond. However our two morning breakfasts were ice cold and food looked as if it was sitting there all morning (at 8.30am) not a great selection or choice of food either.
Unfortunately we would be very hesitant to stay here again, pity our experience was so underwhelming.
