I do not know what a hotel needs to get 5 stars, but in my opinion, this is a 5 star hotel modestly claiming to be a 4 star hotel. Very comfortable. Service excellent - even given the covid-19 constraints. Will be returning soon

7 of us including 2 children had lunch today- 03/09/2021-and it was most enjoyable and extremely safe. The hotel has a most comprehensive and varied adult and children's menu. I opted for hake and it was beautifully cooked and succulently delicious. I followed with ice cream (raspberry and vanilla flavours), mouthwateringly super. All of us agreed that our meals were excellent. A great sign of a gastromically excellent establishment is to see lots of patrons (socially distanced) enjoying their meals and the Shannon Springs Hotel exhibited this today. Angeline was the wonderful Lady that served us, with excellent efficiency and friendliness. Joan (Maitre'd) checked every so often, that we were enjoying ourselves. Míle Buíochas Joan, Angeline agus Foireann Óstán Shannon Springs le Lá go hiontach.
